He should have transferred to a JUCO for 2 years, transferred back to Miami after, and then would be a 27 year old 1st round pick. He just needs experience, fellas.
So, just to clarify. You think the coach that is billed as an "ELITE recruiter" shouldn't be judged on recruiting? I truly hope this isn't the hill you picked. You literally must make the same complaint against 15 other HC who offered these two scrubs. ND, Bama, Oregon, and Michigan all bad evals too? Mario wasn’t the only HC who offered these players.
Valid against Mario:
Defense (every aspect of it including decision on coaches), special teams play, in-game decisions, usage of portal (for the most part; there are a very few exceptions), undisciplined team (which is surprising considering his personal attitude)….all of these criticisms add up to equal a coach who shouldn’t be around long.
Recruiting and HS evaluations shouldn’t make the list, imo cause I think he’s right on par with most of FBS HC’s.
Defense and special teamsWhat is a valid Mario criticism or complaint?
You guys are all WRONG saying he and Moss were bad evals!!! Evals and development are 2 completely different things. They were evaluated correctly. They were top tier in high school football. They didn't take that next step to power 5 football. In Moss's case, he couldn't put on weight. There's no evaluation that could have predicted his outcome. Nearly all DL and OL recruits come in under weight and lacking strength for power 5, now power 4 football. They need time and development for weight and strength.Doing something wrong. I get it both had a lot of offers but horrendous evals
Brother, all elite recruiters miss. And they miss bad.So, just to clarify. You think the coach that is billed as an "ELITE recruiter" shouldn't be judged on recruiting? I truly hope this isn't the hill you picked.
I agree. It’s fair to judge if at least half of your recruits none of the big schools were offering and then half don’t develop into anything.Brother, all elite recruiters miss. And they miss bad.
Oregon 2023: ****ey, Pleasant, Purchase, Austen, Novosad, Dowdell (transferred out and was RB1 for someone else), Bowens, and Green. 8 of top 10 no impact on team.
Miami 2023: Stafford, Ray Ray, Wayne, Samson,
Robby Washington no impact. 5 out of 10.
But like I said, the same players Mario signed were top guys that EVERY coach wanted. All these elite recruiters went after Jayden Wayne, Cyrus Moss, Archeampong, and etc. Are they all not elite recruiters too? Or maybe predicting 17 years old athletes future is one of the hardest thing to do in the world. It’s easy to judge from our couch.
when we signed Archeampong over Harbaugh, CIS bragged about Mario shoving Harbaugh in a locker. Cyrus over Lanning the same. And what about Citizen over UF and LSU? Remember the skinny TE that Mario flipped from Saban on signing day? We all celebrated that ****. But all were busts. So Mario, Lanning, Saban, and Harbaugh are not elite recruiters? GTFOHI agree. It’s fair to judge if at least half of your recruits none of the big schools were offering and then half don’t develop into anything.
I think picking the number 1 team in the country that hired a first time HC is a very terrible comparison. I'm not here to change anyone's mind, so enjoy.Brother, all elite recruiters miss. And they miss bad.

Fine. For others then. Here’s UGA for 2023:I think picking the number 1 team in the country that hired a first time HC is a very terrible comparison. I'm not here to change anyone's mind, so enjoy.
Yep I think his last name was Skinner right?when we signed Archeampong over Harbaugh, CIS bragged about Mario shoving Harbaugh in a locker. Cyrus over Lanning the same. That’s itYep I think his last name was Skinner right?
Jaleel skinnerYep I think his last name was Skinner right?
Do you think it matters at all who is front of these guys on the depth chart? Do you think it matters at all what these guys are expected to contribute? Do you think Miami is in a comparable situation to either of these schools you want to use?Fine. For others then. Here’s UGA for 2023:
Jordan Hall 4 tackles 0 sacks 0 TFLs
AJ Harris transferred to Penn St
Joenel Aguero 22 tackles 0 INT 1 PD
Monroe Freeling four starts
Troy Bowles 0 tackles 0 sacks 0 tfl
Bo Hughley appeared in 3 games 0 starts
Sam M’Pemba 0 tackles 0 sacks 0 tfls in portal
That’s 7 of top 11 complete busts for UGA.
Once again. Predicting how 17 years olds are going to translate to the next level is effing hard.
I thought you were done? How very TOC of youDo you think it matters at all who is front of these guys on the depth chart? Do you think it matters at all what these guys are expected to contribute? Do you think Miami is in a comparable situation to either of these schools you want to use?
You are sampling the top teams in the country as if it's evidence while ignoring the fact that those schools have been stacking and acquiring talent at a rate higher than the other 95% of CFB. The margin for error for the top teams in the SEC and B1G are not on the same spectrum as Miami.
Those kids are losing competitions to more talented players. Meanwhile we are still trying to fix the offense OR defense year to year instead of both. I'm not sure the correlation here, but again enjoy this victory.
**** Naw!I thought you were done? How very TOC of you
And move the goal posts again, dude. Can’t compare Mario to Lanning because he has been at Oregon as long as Mario has been at Miami. Then I can’t compare Mario to Kirby because Kirby has been at UGA for 8 seasons.
How about you just admit that recruiting is hard and predicting HS athletes at the next level is very difficult but Mario does it better than most.

Portal isn’t the context; it’s HS recruiting and evaluation. If the portal was the context, there isn’t a debate, Mario has been pretty bad at the portal. Here’s a fundamental difference:
1. Those players u named at Oregon? They all r riding the bench b/c there’s better players ahead of them on the roster, as Lanning poached the portal.
2. Dowdell transferred out immediately b/c he wasn’t surpassing Bucky Irving, Whittington, or Jordan James. Novosad had to sit behind Bo Nix, & then Lanning brought in Gabriel & Moore.
3. Great recruiters over recruit, as it weeds out those who don’t belong or can’t compete. The problem w/ Miami thus far is that both our HS, AND Portal recruiting has been subpar, & I’ve already laid out the tangible stats verifying this.
4. There’s not one elite HC in the world who recruits at a 100% clip, so I’m not sure why this point keeps being made as posters r trying to compare our classes vs. The UGAs, Bamas, Oregon’s of the world. The elite teams r hitting at 33%+ EVERY cycle all the way to the portal. Mario here at Miami is now at 22%, which is y we’re constantly saying every year “we have to hit the portal hard.” We’re recruiting like a bucket w/ a hole in it.
5. The only reason this team wasn’t a 7-5 team this yr was b/c to Mario’s credit, he knocked it out the ball park w/ Cam. Cam was even better than advertised. W/o Ward, there’s no heroic comeback against Cal, VT. We don’t win against UL.
Now we’re back to square one, as we’ve lost a ton of production, & have ? marks around a lot of position. Collin was an eval take, the HS he played for was known for academic excellence, not sports, & the competition he faced was subpar. His natural tools (pause) was enticing, & w/ staff put together, it was alleged they would help him develop. Unfortunately, it was a miss, it happens, but what’s not OK r the continued misses.
Not to rag on moss but he can’t get burn at Portland state. Yikes! Gotta be the worst eval/development of all timeYou guys are all WRONG saying he and Moss were bad evals!!! It's like the big kid in elementary school that dominates everyone. By high school, everyone has surpassed him.
Moss is back in the portal againNot to rag on moss but he can’t get burn at Portland state. Yikes! Gotta be the worst eval/development of all time
