Are we though? I am not a betting line expert, but on a neutral field, I feel like we would be favored over SMU, Indiana, Arizona State, Boise State, etc, even with that awful defense. Some pretty good discussion here in all honesty appreciate the effort
Recruiting is definitely hard. More complicated than it’s ever been
Mario still hasn’t climbed to the top 12 teams in the country and others have and that’s all that really matters at the end of the day
The program “feels” closer to me to being a consistent playoff threat than it has in the past even though the record doesn’t necessarily support that yet but still seems we are very far away from that top tier
We’ve made significant investments at a foundational level of the program so yes that’s why I said it feels like we are in a better spot as a programAre we though? I am not saying that is good enough and I understand the "Cam Ward Effect" and agree that we are still a ways away from the top tier, which should be the goal. But this year it feels like there are 6 truly good teams and after that we are splitting hairs and you could argue we are as good if not better than anyone else you want to put on that list.
If there is a significant backslide next season then okay, let's revisit.
I agree with every part of this and it is absolutely possible that Mario is not the right answer. We’ve made significant investments at a foundational level of the program so yes that’s why I said it feels like we are in a better spot as a program
But obviously on field results are not there and I have no idea if Mario is the guy that can pull it off
When Manny, Golden, Richt etc were here we were a ****show on every level. Low bar but we aren’t that any more so when I say “feels” that’s what I mean
Yeah I’m with youI agree with every part of this and it is absolutely possible that Mario is not the right answer.
But off the cuff, there are like 8-12 programs that are, subjectively, in a better spot than Miami going forward (talent, recruiting, coaching, etc.).
And that feels like progress we can feel good about, for now, especially given what we have been subjected to for the last 20 years.
I get it, you have bigger things to do.
Learning how percentages work and inventing the famous 3 deep roster management style is hard work.
Sounds good, man! Happy to continue this once you have come up with any semblance of an actual argument. I'll settle for just one example of this 3 deep roster management tactic that you invented out of thin air.Whoooooooooooooa; u really burned me there, bro. It’s amazing how I’m told I don’t know how % work from a muh fcka, who admittedly, didn’t watched UO football.
That’s like u giving me tax advice when u don’t know **** about taxes.
But MikeyCaner, listen bud; u can believe whatever u want, partner. That’s the beauty of being human pal; &, w/ that I’ll bid adieu.
I wanted Kiffin. But in hindsight, you can obviously make the same criticisms of Lane that you can make of Mario.Yeah I’m with you
When we were making the hire I was against Mario
But after factoring in everything I was actually ok with it. I’ve said from Day 1 he would finally be a coach that would get to implement his plan here, I just wasn’t sure if his plan was actually one that would work
And for all the people talking about 2000-2002 and how we shouldn’t “lower expectations” that **** is not reality to me so if we gotta start here then that’s what we gotta do. Doesn’t mean I’m happy about it or won’t criticize Mario, there just isn’t much we can do about it. He’s in no danger of losing his job and frankly, that’s probably a good thing for such a dysfunctional program
Yeah I think Lane would have instantly made us better in the short term. I get why people wanted him here and I can’t blame them. It would have been a lot more fun to watch than 2022 and most of 2023 anywayI wanted Kiffin. But in hindsight, you can obviously make the same criticisms of Lane that you can make of Mario.
We've only been swimming in the deep end for a few years now and although I am fine with the expectation being that we should compete for national championships every season. But I also think it is important to recognize that we are not and never will be Georgia, Bama, Oregon or Texas when it comes to resources and advantages.
The game done changed since 2000 and 2001 and if we keep starting all over every 3-4 years, the cycle will always repeat itself.
Unless Urban Meyer is ready to come out of retirement, I am not convinced that there are any coaches out there that are CLEAR upgrades or would have Miami in a better position than they are in currently.

As for punctuation and sentence structure, I feel like that ship has sailed for you.
You okay over there? I had to reread this three times and I still don't get it.U’re probably the guy who drives a Corvette w/ a big stache, huh? I’m sure there’s a mustard stain on ur shirt as we speak, w/ ur belly slightly protruding over ur belt buckle holding up ur Wrangler jeans, huh? I’m pretty sure when u pee, u’re petrified of peeing down ur leg, aren’t u? I’m sure u’ve looked at Top Gun about 12x, looking in the mirror pretending ur name is Pete Mitchell, don’t u? I bet u hit on girls by saying, “hey, I drive a Vette; wanna ride?” don’t u?
If u don’t get ur Tricks R 4 Kidz, Corn Flakes dumb as posting self off my dyck…
You okay over there? I had to reread this three times and I still don't get it.
Feels like you are crashing out because you made some **** up about Oregon running a 3 deep and can't actually defend your point.
Regardless I am still here to debate whether or not Mario is a decent talent evaluator when you are ready.
Driving a corvette and rocking a big mustache does sound kinda tight though.
Whoa.Nah, I just don’t have time to waste on simpletons or fck boys.
Nah, I just don’t have time to waste on simpletons or fck boys.
(Guyzum, pls 4 give me):
1. If u don’t know what a guy who drives a Vette w/ a big stache represents, u’ve already proven my point.
2. Every yr I get a new a fan, an imbecile if u will, that tries to banter w/ me on something I post that doesn’t fit their fandom. At first it starts off as something innocent, then gradually the snide remarks starts to become increasingly flagrant attempting to rattle my cage.
3. Luckily for u I’m in the spirit of giving, & here to prove once again how some in this fan base is as ill-informed as any fan base in America.
So u say my % are off, right? U know what, I have to agree w/ u, here’s y:

Now, let’s address the conjecture that u proposed in a previous response:
-Were some of the HS recruits committed to Mario b4 Lanning? Yes; but, anyone w/ half a brain knows when a new coach comes on board they have to re-recruit any players their predecessor recruited, which is y this board was fairly confident Luli would follow Mario & Joe here. So kudos to Mario for getting him to Oregon, & kudos to Lanning for keeping him in Oregon.
-In regards to Conerly, U don’t know if Conerly would’ve committed to Oregon if Mario stayed, b/c if that was the case, Conerly would’ve committed to Miami after Mario became coach here!
U see how conjecture & hypotheticals don’t mean **** in reality?
Anywho, back to the recruits:

Now let me stop right here; u made an absolutely asinine statement, & what’s bothersome about this statement is the pontificating behind it. You admitted you haven’t watched Oregon Football, yet u willingly make an *** out of urself to do what? To show u’re a white knight fan?
From ur post history it shows u rarely post, & between u & I, u should keep it that way.
Let’s talk about how deep Oregon’s roster is:
WR-X: 3 deep w/ 5* 2023 ****ey as the 3
WR-Z: 3 deep w/ 4* 2024 Gresham as the 3
WR-F: 4 deep w/ 3* 2024 Ressler as the 4
LT: 3 deep w/ 4* 2024 Crader as the 3
LG: 3 deep w/ 4* 2024 Brooks as the 3
C: 3 deep
RG: 2 deep
RT: 3 deep w/ 3* 2024 Ferguson as the 3
RB: 5 deep
QB: 4 deep
TE: 3 deep
DE: 3 deep w/ 4* 2023 Porter as the 3
NT: 4 deep w/ 4* 2024 Johnson as the 4
DT: 4 deep w/ 4* 2024 Breland as the 4
Jack: 4 deep w/ 4* 2023 Purchase as the 4
MAC: 4 deep w/ 4* 2024 Mothudi as the 4
MONEY: 4 deep w/ 4* 2024 Platt as the 4
FCB: 4 deep w/ 4* 2024 Obidegwu as the 4
SS: 3 deep w/ 3* 2023 Davis as the 3
FS: 4 deep w/ 4* 2024 Lopa as the 4
BCB: 3 deep w/ 4* 2024 JUCO Laulea as the 3
NB: 2 deep w/ 4* 2023 Austin as the rotational
Do u know how many 3+ positions we had this season?
11:
WRX (2 of them will be gone by 2025)
WRZ (1 will be gone by 2025)
WRY (1 wil be gone by 2025)
QB (2 will be gone by 2025)
RB (2 will be gone by 2025)
TE (3 will be gone by 2025)
LDE (2 will be gone by 2025)
NT (3 will be gone by 2025)
DT (1 will be gone by 2025)
WLB (1 will be gone by 2025)
MLB (1 will be gone by 2025)
Which is why EVERYONE is freaking out about the transfer portal, genius.
What’s the old saying; it’s better to be quiet & let ppl think U’re a jackass then to come on CIS, pick an argument w/ a guy who has a ton of credible receipts to prove that u r one?
How Oregon’s roster is constructed is how our teams used to be constructed in the early 2000’s. Now, here’s a million dollar ?; why in year 3 are we struggling to be 3 deep w/ quality? Fck it, since u’ve proven to be a jackass & I’m in a giving mood I’ll answer it for u; it’s b/c not only were Manny’s players a wash here, but the classes of 2022-23 have now been a wash. U couple that w/ poor portal evaluation sans a player here or two & voila!
But again, believe what u want. It’s ur human right.
I know! Son is doing great. Almost two months. Starting to sleep a little longer at night. In laws come this weekend to spend some time with us. Father in law is a huge Gator fan. Thanks for asking. That wasn’t for u, btw. How’s the family doing?
