might sound crazy BUT UGA might give Oregon a problem. they have good athletes on defense
We’ll see. Texas moved the ball against them with ease but then shot themselves in the foot with penalties to force field goals.

I think Oregon can do what Texas couldn’t. I would imagine it to be a 35-28 type win for the ducks. UGA hasn’t had a good offense and has a decent but not great defense.

I think for the future, instead of giving conference champions the four byes, instead guarantee the 4 champions will host a home game at worst.

If they had done that this year, Boise St would have been the 7 seed and Arizona St the 8th seed and you would have had these matchups

8 ASU vs 9 Tenn —> 1. Oregon
5 Notre Dame vs 12 Clemson —> 4. Penn St

6 Ohio State vs 11 SMU —> 3. Texas
7 Boise St vs 10 Indiana —> 2. Georgia

A couple other suggestions - get rid of preseason rankings. Adds too much bias.
Conference championships have outserved their usefulness. Nobody wants to play in a conference championship game unless a bye is on the table. So get rid of them.

You want to get rid of the automatic 4 byes, but you want the conference championship games to mean something. A bye was on the table for 4 of the 5 conference winners.

Alabama AD's official response to not making the playoff:

“Disappointed with the outcome and felt we were one of the 12 best teams in the country,” Byrne tweeted. “We had an extremely challenging schedule and recognize there were two games in particular that we did not perform as well as we should have.

“We have said that we would need to see how strength of schedule would be evaluated by the CFP. With this outcome, we will need to assess how many P4 non-conference games make sense in the future to put us in the best position to participate in the CFP. That is not good for college football.

“With that said, we do not need to hang our heads and now need to finish this season strong. We have a great group of young men who have led us with Coach DeBoer through the last year and we look forward to our opportunity in the @ReliaQuestBowl.”

Of course, all 3 of their losses came in conference play so of course, you threaten to weaken your OOC scheduling. SMH

Seeds:

All receive first round byes:
1 - Oregon
2 - UGA
3 - Boise State
4 - ASU

Host a first round game:
5 - Texas
6 - Penn State
7 - Notre Dame
8 - Ohio State

9 - Tennessee (@ OSU)
10 -Indiana (@ND)
11 - SMU (@PSU)
12 - Clemson (@ Texas)
I will say, the G5 team (Boise in this case) doesn’t ever deserve a bye week.

That is bull****.

I think a really great solution would be to expand to 14 teams (wish they had this season) and only give 2 byes to top 2 conference winners. Make the other 3 conference winners guarantteed to host first round games.

Those OOC games deplete your team for the conference games. That’s why they lost. At least that’s their theory!

They played one P4 team OOC. Blowing out Wisky at the beginning of the season must have really rocked their world to never have the lead against Vandy and lose by 3 TDs to ****** Oklahoma team as well. Can't argue with that Bama logic. :snoopfacepalm:
