Coley and Burns

back to this topic,
3 thinngs that has raised my eyebrow after watching them race through my friend's instagram account:
1. Malcom needs loose weight- he seems to be eating a lot of chineese food and is inflicting a high dosage of sodium intake. I have high hope for this kid.
2. Coley is the truth- Burns won by a small margin, but give props to coley for stepping up and going against a fast ****.
3. Burns is fast period! A pure corner with some speed. Dorsett should not race him, cuz he might get served!

Pretty sure both of these guys are in the top 6 athletes on the team already. Turning that into production will be a mental thing for both.

For Burns it will be the ability to process information, though my hope is some of that is reduced by playing the Nickel "roamer" position where he's used closer to the line of scrimmage and to chase plays.

For Coley, my complete speculation is that it will be mental in that he has to stay focused and patient (because of the depth chart opportunities). Basically, he'll get a small window and has to convert. Lockhart got a tiny window last year and, for multiple reasons, couldn't turn that into anything. Hopefully, Morris' touch has improved because a guy like Coley could find a spot as a Red Zone target. We need one.

it would be a disservice to your team if your coaches asked these guys to process too much. not saying that is what you're saying, but that's what i took from your posts.

one of the things i liked about meyer is that with really talented young guys he just lets them play. i recall a story of him talking about janoris jenkins where he played man all year except a handful of snaps, he didn't want to overload him with anything just let him use his athleticism and cover. same with guys offensively, get them in space and get them the rock. burns and coley are those type of players, just let them do their thing and don't 'overcoach.'

Yeap, Meyer let them do their own thing in every way possible: robbery, drugs, assault, rape, pillage, plunder --- Took his coaching style from Attila. Our old Canes embarrassed college football by beating the crap out of grown me on their own fields so badly that new rules were made up to protect those little boys. Meyer just let criminals have get out of jail free cards. Please do not validated it by pretending it was some sort of coaching decision--he is a little girl and was terrified of those criminals you called football players once Tebow wasn't there to protect him.

Anybody Else see Coley absolutely TOAST Tracey Howard after slipping? WOW I didn't realize what a freaking stud he is. You can't jam him, he has crazy get off and insane burst in and out of his cuts for his size

Yeap. Clearly, Deon and Tracy and cover just about anyone EXCEPT Coley. Not sure anyone can cover him. I had no idea he was that good. No wonder wide right coaches were crying when Al snagged him. He starts this year before it is over and maybe before it starts. Love our WRs but no way they keep this kid on bench. 10 tds easy. Now I understand why this years top kids are thinking about any place else. None of them will get in front of this Coley. I say he take two to the bank against swamp scum. They have nobody that can cover this kid. We just thought our WRs looked good, wait until Coley starts getting double and triple coverage. you better have some serious fast lbs to cover our slots and TEs or Duke will end up with some DE trying to cover him out of back field. Can Coley block downfield too?

Wut?

Watch the SFE try out video again. Deon stays step for step with Coley and tips the ball. Coley got lucky it was a bad tip and fell in his hands.

I was thinkin of making a separate thread for this, but I'll just ask it here. Out of T Howard and Artie out of high school, who are you takin first? I know Tracy was the #1 CB in his class, but I'm taking Artie by a considerable margin. What say you?

/glad we have both

Burns.

.

No disrespect to Tracy though, love that kid too

Burns and it is not even close to me. Burns is going to be special. I dont think Tracy was the best CB in that class either.

Swasey is usually pretty accurate though. I remember we would hear some of his times in the past and fans would go "yeah right" but then the kid would post nearly the same time at the NFL combine. Mike James, Javaris James, Colin McCarthy, DVD were some of the kids that come to mind.

Yep. Olsen, too.

Dorsett is going to go to the combine and run one of the five fastest times. He flies. Just because he's not a wizard with the ball in his hands doesn't mean he can't run.

Theres a reason he got behind 3 Nc State defenders with 30 seconds left in the game, and its not because they let him...kid flies without the ball in his hands. Would like to see some YAC improvement but his speed and Morris' arm strength are a lethal combo. Other than the drops, this kid is as good as there was in the ACC last year and will only improve.

Dorsett can take the top off a defense with ease, he just doesn't have the wiggle to make plays with the ball in his hands.

We saw him blow by defenders plenty of times last season.

Now that I think of it, Dorsett took the top off a lot of defenses last season.

GT, one of the first plays of the game.
ND, twice in a short span.
NCST a couple times.

If Coley is anywhere near Dorsett's speed, with his talent, ooooh lawd.

Dorsett supposedly ran a 4.3 in HS. I think his times are legit although they are hand timed. He will no doubt run a sub 4.4 at the combine. He just doesn't play as fast with the ball in his hands but its not like he is slow out there on the field either.

Yeap, you're right. Love Deon, but as you noticed notice Coley caught the tip. When they start practicing against each other every day, I assume Deon will learn that a tip is not as good as a pick. That difference is something we have been missing for years. Get the pick and then get it to the house -- See Ed Reed. Coley is gong to make our dbs get better or get burned. Everyone needs to practice against someone better to get better; that was the secret on the old Canes. When Valentine and Chad get here, our Oline will make them better and they will make the oline better. The Blades borthers use to have real fights at pracitce. Staff is really crushing this recruiting stuff and the pieces are comng together. I've watched The Mad Stork, 1st NC, R.I.P., Thill's 3rd and a 1000 against ND, Switzer saying OU just can't beat Miami after Vinnie's "how many of you will it take to tackle me" scramble, heck I'll throw in Fins perfect season. It takes a lot to ge me excited, but watching this come together is starting too. Howard had surprise on his side. Golden is doing this with the whole college football world in a frantic fearful effort to stop him. I love the Pipe, but the Tie might just climb up to him.
