I doubt Beard leaves Miami… Never say never, but he’s similar to Corey Raymond.
Maybe it’s not as simple as Beard wanting to stay. He has been a good coach and decent recruiter.

But, he did miss on JSmith, Innis and a decent amount of portal transfers. I’m not going to debate semantics with if we actually had a chance with any of those guys, but if Mario feels he can get the same level of coaching with better recruiting he’s going to make that change.

Personally, unless he’s landing an absolute monster of a WR Coach, this would be a mistake imo letting him leave. Miami ties or not, he’s probably the only coach not name Mirabel, who I’ve seen a dramatic improvement of on field play since Mario got hired.

Gaby’s posts in the last few minutes seems to suggest that there are legs to Beard considering Syracuse as a destination

Cooney’s about to get any sub 5’11 180 lb WR down in SFL he wants

Bowling Green was somewhat of an enigma last season.
They were very tough against the OOC big-boys, not looking
out-of-place vs those teams and they had some legit players.
But dropped some games they probably should not had, at least
on paper.

You can’t be serious with this.
Let me provide context. If Beard had the choice he wouldn’t want to leave. I didn’t know about the contract situation.

Like even if Beard was up for a bigger role with another school he wouldn’t ideally want to dip. Some coaches are cool with being position coaches.

Now let’s compare that to Matt Merritt, he has ambitions of wanting to be more than an RB coach. If he were given a path to help him reach that goal he would take it. Especially as an RB coach when it’s more difficult to get promoted to be an OC or HC

I agree, I was saying from what I know about Beard. I should’ve worded better, if it was his choice he would love to coach at UM until he couldn’t anymore. That’s more so what I meant

Every single WR coach in the country not named Brian Hartline missed on Jeremiah Smith and Brandon Innis. Although It’s more like dodged a bullet with Innis.

In two years he’s signed four 92 or higher rated WR recruits. It would have been five but Malachi Toney dropped when he re-classified. The only other position group that can say the same thing is Edge.

I’m not defending the decision. Does Mario think if he had a different WR coach he lands them? Maybe. Do I think that’s a dumbass thought, absolutely. There could more reasons that me as a fan with no connections to the program is missing. Maybe they don’t like his coaching. Maybe he played a role in Horton leaving. Could be a number of reasons.

The easiest thing I could find would be that. Again, I think he’s been a good hire. Probably the best he’s made. Actual tangible proof of his development. I’m not lumping Mirabel in for obvious reasons. Beard has vastly outperformed what my expectations were for him.
