Yes we do...with better player development those guys could reach that level...imoUM fans consistently overrate UM players.

People keep saying this. Better coaching will help us win in college. It will put our players in a position to shine and people will call that ‘development.’ Better skill training (‘development’) may matter but truthfully, we’ve sent guys to the nfl through years of mediocre coaching. What is a largely false premise is that somehow guys who had fancy reps when they came here would have been manufactured into nfl players if only the coaching was better. That’s a delusional view, for the most part. The NFL finds kids wherever they are, and our guys have still been going to the nfl over time. The reason fewer have been going in the top rounds of the draft is because we’ve had less talented guys. We’ve recruited less well and evaluated less well.Yes we do...with better player development those guys could reach that level...imo
It’s not all enos. Our offense kept us in the game against UF, we blew 4 and 17 against unc, got raped by va tech in first half
raped by VT also had a lot to do with the scrub throwing 4 picks
Pointing to guys getting to the NFL is ananecdotal evidence. I think the point is that the guys who make it to the NFL are not high draft picks. How much would better coaching and development improve their draft stock?People keep saying this. Better coaching will help us win in college. What happens around these sites is people get inflated views of our prospects, then are consistently surprised that they don’t become nfl all pros. Then they blame the coaches. Well, our coaches have sucked, but the all pro team has guys on it from places like buffalo, utah state, BC, Pitt, cincy, west alabama, texas tech, colorado, cal, south carolina, baylor.... And not so many from Alabama. It doesn’t take Alabama infrastructure to get kids there. It takes the kid and his heart and ability and dedication. What Alabama does is get more better kids on average, and put them in positions to succeed in college, and they do, more often than not.
Better development development and coaching will help us, and is a necessary ingredient to making progress. Better evals and recruiting will help us, and is necessary for next level success. But believing all our kids are future nfl stars if only our staffs polish them is just not true and not how it works.
That's on the coaches doing the recruiting.remember when we had the same problem with dts.And whose fault is it that in a year that SFL was loaded with oline talent we got essentially shutout on oline recruits?
Can't argue with the Cam assessment. He definitely didn't look like he progressed at all...Chaney was coming here no matter what & it’s pretty obvious that Rooster chose the best of his remaining options. As far as Hickson goes, he’s sloppy & unorganized, his rotations suck, & Cam regressed a ton since last year. It’s like Hickson told the RB’s that they aren’t allowed to stiff arm or shake anyone. Cam looked like he was intentionally running directly into defenders.
Brown pulled Lingard & Cam which as a collective on paper is better than Chaney & Knighton.
Fire the bartender and get a real recruiter FFS.
Funny how Patke can swing and miss on Greene yet we don't hear about his job being in jeopardy. Where would we be without his mediocre special teams and development of like 2 rostered players?
I think that's more of a testament on DeeJay's work ethic than coaching...Deejay looked like he improved from last year. Hard to tell if that’s just because he shed weight, but he was making plays behind a terrible line.
He scored tds running and receiving despite anyone else on offense doing anything worth acknowledging...DeeJay was good for one chunk play a game & that really skews his YPC average. I would venture to guess that at least 50% of DeeJay’s runs were for 3 yards or less.
Against uf gave up multiple big plays. You can’t win big with this defense. Every trick play works against us and every competent qb picks it apart. It’s been this way since manny got here
Rumph is middle of the pecking order for me for dudes who should have gotten cannedRumph coming back is a travesty. Our corner play was at best mediocre. And of course his recruiting is poor.
You still living in a world where college football is played in the early 00s. Scoring 20 points in a high level game isn’t “keeping us in the game”. LSU’s offense kept them in the game against UF when that offense put 21 on LSU in the first half. Giving up 24 points against a top 10 team when 7 of the points were gifted by a muffed punt ain’t a bad performance. Throw in the fact that the defense picked UF off twice in plus territory too. It’s not all enos. My point was against top teams. We ain’t stopping them wifh this defenseYou still living in a world where college football is played in the early 00s. The defense has no strategy but blitz. It’s literally the blitz all function on maddenNot even top teams. If this defense absolutely needs a stop, they can't get it. How many games did give up a late TD drive. UF, UNC, VT, GT. Even in games against FIU, Duke and La Tech a defensive stop was needed to get the offense the ball back for one last try and the defense gave up a TD instead. Our defense is awful in certain situations. We don't start or finish games strong. We play well after making adjustments and still not elite.
Are you a member of the Ku Klux Klan?yet another of our black CIS members curiously dug in on his defense of corch Rumph. so pathetic.
He probably took a pay cut. More $$$ for the OC.Rumph coming back is a travesty. Our corner play was at best mediocre. And of course his recruiting is poor.
