Coach Richt on South Florida three stars

82 are you serious? You really are amazed that a 18 year old became jealous. He was looking for an out.. I think he will bust in college... Another Byron cowart

Dude this was a different type of jealous. This wasn't no, "Yo that's my girl bro! I called dibs on her!" type stuff. He could brush that off. This was legit envy. To where he didn't want anything to do with UM as a whole anymore let alone the DE room.

Most guys transfer because they aren't getting playing time. Lets keep it 100..this guy transferred because Garvin was eating his lunch and taking all the shine and wearing the TO chain on national TV and he couldn't stand to deal with it not one minute longer. Couldn't even wait around until Spring ball to see if things would change in his favor. He just through up the deuce and was out.

Some of the things I had heard was he was extremely inconsistent, would look great one rep then get mauled for several reps. Also didn't have much bend. I guess he complained frequently about playing time and Garvin being ahead of him, but whenever they put DJ in a game he'd either lose the rep or have a mental error.
My boy @Dwinstitles broke it down perfectly. D.J. was an exciting prospect but he was raw as ****. Loooong way to go. His ceiling was way up there but it was going to take a couple of years and a lot of hard work.

Still doesn’t beat randy Shannon saying that Shawnbrea McNeal came to him “boo boo cryin” about transferring closer to home

I think DJ taking a shirt and getting his body right would have helped him more... always saw him more of our next Chad clone

Prbly was use to being THE MAN on his Dline unit and having a future couple of 1st rounds picks like Joe and Garvin wasnt something he was use too

I think physically he was fine. Mental toughness is what he needed. You can have all the physical tools in the world, but if you give up at the first sign of adversity, you're going to have a difficult time. He was probably used to dominating his whole life and when that didn't happen, he didn't want to put in the work.

He got a dope tat out of his commitment though...I guess not all is lost for him.

I am not sure what you expected him to say. He said the same **** when he was at UGA. Notice he said middle GA, and not metro ATL or south Georgia.
Your Georgia infatuation makes D$’s South Florida QB obsession look like a fleeting glance

If kids could transfer at will, and in my opinion they should be able to, they wouldn’t have to make up silly excuses like “family illness”. Kid probably had 50 reasons to leave Miami and lack of playing time was only one of them.

But it is stupid to on the one hand say he’s a ***** and then give credit (which is deserved) to Garvin for playing like a 5* - but saying DJ got beat out by a 3*. DJ was beaten out by a “misranked 5*” - which is kind of Richt’s point and it also applies, so far (talking about practice) to Rousseau.

There are worse mistakes an 18-year old can make than leaving a school to early and maybe he learns from this one. I wish him well.
I can't wish a kid like that well. As a coach and former player, I just believe you finish what you start unless it's an serious situation(s).

You guys talking trash about how bad or over rated or how low the competition was for DJ Johnson must not be remembering how fast he ran the 100 meter sprint. All the track circle jerkers blasted me for suggesting a DEFENSIVE LINEMAN train his body to play DEFENSIVE LINE in the offseason. Boy did they show me. He is going to be sytiling all over the college football world with his straight line speed.

You're right. I don't give a **** what a DL runs a 100 meters in. Even a 40 yard dash isn't that meaningful.

Despite the family reasons, does anybody have a idea why DJ Johnson underperformed here.

He was weak. I tried to tell ya’ll I didn’t trust his stats. Sac sucks at competition. Even DJ took his talents to the best high school team in the nation at that time in De La Salle in Concord.

DJ Johnson was playing against OL who will be lucky to be equipment managers for the girl’s volleyball team in their future. His #’s were inflated. Played against other grown men and found out he wasn’t that great.
