"You kind of get caught up in the stars and all that kind of stuff. But when you recruit at the University of Miami, and this South Florida region, you are going to find some gems that are three-star guys because there are so many other great prospects down here.

If Rousseau was somewhere in the middle of the state of Georgia, dominating the league he was in, he might have been a five-star guy. But he's in an area with a lot of population and a lot of football, so he didn't get those big star ratings. But the guy is going to be a heck of a player.

Garvin was the same thing a year ago. Not many people thought Garvin out of Lake Worth was going to be anything, three-star guy, and he's turned out to be a heck of a ballplayer, too. One guy left and went back home because Garvin played more than he did. We're going to play the best guys."

He just said DJ Johnson is the kid that takes his ball and goes home before the street lights come on because he wasn't picked by the captains.

Difference between greatness and mediocrity is mental. Dj had a lot of tools to work with and I had high hopes for him.

Despite the family reasons, does anybody have a idea why DJ Johnson underperformed here.
Some of the things I had heard was he was extremely inconsistent, would look great one rep then get mauled for several reps. Also didn't have much bend. I guess he complained frequently about playing time and Garvin being ahead of him, but whenever they put DJ in a game he'd either lose the rep or have a mental error.

I seem to remember even during DJs recruitment posters questioned his competition in HS. And he didn't look all that hot at the UAA game.

I have no doubt if he had been patient he would have been a star but he let that ego get the best of him. Amazing that at 18 years old you can still have jealousy and envy in your heart. He couldn't even stand to be around UM anymore he was so jealous. Made him sick to his stomach. Thought that was a trait you develop when you are in your 20s and 30s. He was envious of Garvin. Smh. Shame.

I think DJ taking a shirt and getting his body right would have helped him more... always saw him more of our next Chad clone

Prbly was use to being THE MAN on his Dline unit and having a future couple of 1st rounds picks like Joe and Garvin wasnt something he was use too

I don't have any inside info, but we also need to remember dude was a true freshman. Some guys pick things up quicker than others. The kid was here for basically 6 months. Wish he would've stuck it out, but he didn't. It's going to be interesting to see how things turn out for him. Leaving so quickly is a red flag imo.

Any '19 freaks like Greg and Garvin out there that we should be evaluating?

He did well in the All-Star game

82 are you serious? You really are amazed that a 18 year old became jealous. He was looking for an out.. I think he will bust in college... Another Byron cowart

So basically he complained about not getting playing time and Garvin getting PT over him. When it was time to shine, he showed the coaches why Garvin was getting snaps over him. No, Richt's just an *******. jk

He also got here late. Garvin early enrolled. These kids are just impatient and expect everything to happen so quickly. He would've been in the rotation this year easily if he busted his *** over the offseason. Especially with us losing Chad.
