Yes, I do. I expect the TEs to want to have William's children. He's gonna make them a lot of money in the NFL draft, IMO. His game lines up with what we have been lacking for 2 years. I think he can get us into the end zone as often as Morris did, although it will take more time, which will have the side benefit of protecting our pitiful defense.

Ok...but was he right? How bad was our 3rd down Offense last year?? You can mother **** him all you want, but he was right. In retrospect the D bailed the O out as well.

How bad was our 3rd down defense? The defense couldn't get themselves off the field. Why didn't he mention that?

In retrospect, the D never bailed out the O. If they did, we wouldn't have given up 40+ points and 500 yards for the last 5 games in our schedule (i.e. the meat of the schedule, not the cupcakes)

The North Carolina game? Problem is the we had issues on both sides of the ball. D couldnt get off the field at times and O would get out there and go 3 and out and put them right back out there..

I thought a ridiculous performance by Crawford and his game-winning drive won that game...

Howards int down by our goal line after Morris turned it over in our territory. If not for that NC prob gets a field goal...either way we gotta fix things

You can disguise it w/ a 4-3 look, run stunt blitzes, zone blitzes, roll a 4-6 coverage, 5-2 coverage, safety down; point is, you can flex it anyway possible. However, we run this conservative gap integrity bull which is not what the 3-4 was designed for. It was designed to confuse, and abuse the opposing offenses. The Baltimore Ravens ran and run a 3-4 D all day long. The Carolina Panthers along with the SF 49ers run versions of it as well, however the constant theme remains, it's ultra agressive and as soon as the ball is snapped, they run to their assignments immediately. It's the only D that can be flexed in to so many differnt looks, but Al stays in the same bland, react vs. attack mode and that's what's killing us.

Agreed but two words: Haloti Ngata. You gotta have a specimen at NT to maximize the 3-4.

Randy scapegoated 1 guy. Nix needed to be fired and it was obvious. Walton was the scapegoat and he got fired in season 1, which really isn't a scapegoat considering the team wasn't good anyways. Young left on his own. Whipple and Lovett were not retained by Golden. Where are all the scapegoats left and right. Everyone in the put up or shut up mentality is in for a rude awakening next season. The talent on the roster, combined with both the schedule and coaching, don't see how we win more than 7 or 8 games.

While I agree with most of what you post, I don't get the talent on the roster reference. I have been one of Gulden and staffs biggest critics of late but this will be the most talented roster he has had since arriving here.

Are we at the level of LSU, Alabama, or Florida State? **** no but we are slowly but surely assembling a nice squad in terms of overall talent.

That being said, I agree with the jist of your post. The 2014 schedule will be tougher imo and the coaching is mediocre at best. We should win 9-11 next year but I fear it could be 6-8 if the bottom falls out and Fat Albert flat out loses the whole team.

The talent reference wasn't necessarily meant to compare the talent level relative to Golden's past years at UM, just where we currently stand.

He's done a nice job recruiting and you can certainly argue the talent level (generally speaking) has improved since he first arrived.

However, as the poster below you alluded to, we're still weak at certain positions and it's going to hurt us.

Defensive tackle, in particular, is downright frightening. I still can't believe the staff managed to drop the ball here so badly. Our weakness there is going to hurt the entire defense as a unit.

I don't feel we're coached particularly well and combined with an exponentially tougher schedule, improving from a standpoint of wins and losses just doesn't seem likely to me.

Perhaps I'm just salty due to the end of last season and don't see any reason for optimism.

Keep the other teams offense off the field and you will win.
Take off the orange and green glasses...our offense sucked as bad as our defense last year.
Yea, we made some quick points and got some wins but it wasn't really efficient, tough championship football.
