This defense, if it keeps this up, will not finish in the top 75 in total defense. So, yeah, they "improved" from last year, but still horrible, especially in year #3.

The sanctions provided them with a great deal of job security, they have felt no pressure. The man fielded one of the worst defenses we have ever seen here last year and there was no question he was coming back. He'd have been out the door by midseason at most football schools.

no one attacks our offense for being a joke, our defense is suppose to be on the field the majority of the game? we went downhill because the big dummy wearing 17.
Coach D has a point, you can shine s$%t. Look at how Tracy howard, mccord, denzel, jenkins, and others with talent and ability have developed. who is he suppose to pressure
the QB with? AQM was used aggressively against fsu but he isnt ready. Aside from figs and grace, kirby and dp are the only lb's with any athletic ability playing. can you
blame him for aj and some of these other idiots making the same bad plays and poor tackling??? i really believe it is a talent issue along with depth. the last 3 or 4 games our def spent almost the whole first quarter on the field and u cant win that way.
 
Golden has has some serious soul searching to do. I'm not on the fire golden train cause that really gets us nowhere, but if he is going to put his relationship with his defensive coordinator ahead of the program and ahead of the kids that committed to him and continuously put them in a position to fail and then turn around and blame them when his scheme fails, well then he can get the **** out tomorrow for all I care.
 
We have better talent than Duke or Boston College, right? Don't give me that **** about it's the players. You can put ANYBODY in the position to succeed. Adapt and overcome *** hole. Not be stubborn and throw kids under the bus.

Sorry for my vent.

The staff is the one implementing the hold your gap crap. The kids have some talent. Take the handcuffs off, and let the dogs eat.
 
This defense isn't young. Most these guys are 2, and 3 year vets to this clown defense.

Year 3 is almost up sucka, and your defense is hot ******* trash. You are the reason guys are ******* up, because you ******* suck.
 
I got an idea for you coach D, quit putting your players in position to fail. Players like Howard and Burns should be playing press man. Souf Florida afletes should be attackin.

He blames the players. He throws them under the bus. Not just for last night, but for their bad play the entire year. None of the wide open receivers and 3rd down conversions were a result of his scheme or play calls. They were all blown assignments. Don't you worry guys, he's been telling the team what they've been doing wrong all year, but they just won't listen. I mean, I really feel bad for the guy to have work with such stubborn players who won't listen to him when he's proven time and again that he knows what he's doing, and that his defense can shut down high powered offenses as well as the I-AA Bethune-Cookmans of the world.

Well we need a non-mouthbreather D coordinator who can put McCord and AQM in position to actually pass rush rather than these stupid *** blitzes we been running. It'd help if our entire dline wasn't playing gap control every play also.
 
The players know what mistakes are being made all game long. The opposing offense keeps slapping them, all game with it. Yet, Al, and Ono keep putting these guys in bad positions all game long.

I'm done with all them personally. You can't stand up, and admit your **** is hot trash. When everyone, that is not in a coma knows what your doing is the problem, not the players.

This is what guys sound like before they get canned. Personally I don't see it, I can't see Golden letting this guy go but this is what they sound like.

Hate to not continue the piling on here, but that was some of the worst tackling I have ever seen. I have seen enough film of our practices to know they teach that. If our tackling is that bad one could extrapolate how bad execution of everything else is, regardless of how it is taught. Also saw a lot of two guys running to the same spot when it was clear one should be picking up the back out of the backfield. Or Perryman standing flat footed as the tight end or wide out flashed across his zone.

Watching the bama game last night there were multiple times when a back or receiver came open underneath and cj mosly tracked that player down when no one else was within 10 yards. We don't have players doing that. Instead we have four defenders bouncing off of a guy and letting him run 30 yards for a touchdown.

D'onofrio, golden, and the scheme could be a huge problem. I don't know. I can't even get that far because of how poorly the players execute. As for the whole "if the players aren't learning they aren't being taught well," I refuse to believe that if they can't learn to tackle. They have been taught that skill for their entire football careers. If you can't learn it in a decade, it might not be the teachers.
 
I can understand 'cutting a guy loose' here and there, its football, it happens. But how do you (Donofrio) explain the consistent drags over the middle that we get burnt on? Wake killed us in the under routes, FSU killed us in short passes, and now VT could just dump everything underneath, getting their guys in space. A missed assignment here, a missed tackle there, big deal move on; but why are receivers WIDE open all the time underneath? So Donofrio is saying that our players are so incompetent that we made VT, UNC, and Wake's offenses look spectacular? Maybe we should 'dumb-down' the defensive calls if our players have such a hard time comprehending their assignments eh?

How about NOT having Shayon Green as your Jack/Cat LB.
How about putting your pass rushing DEs on the field more than just 3rd and long
How about designing a competent blitz????
