Clive Walford

The big tea bag sure doesn't look like a 4.6 guy when he gets in the open field. He's either fairly slow, or he runs out of breath faster than Eric Legrand.

Alshermond finally convinced Fish to make the TE a priority toward the end of last season. And look how that helped open up the offense. A big TE down the seam with the speed and talent we have at WR and with defenses having to respect Duke as a receiver is impossible to stop.

The sturdy Brit has hands like giant rotten plums too. The ball just sticks to them and gets enveloped. This dude is legit. No question in mind that Alshermond will certainly see to it that Coley makes him and Enter Sandland priorities in the offense.

And I'll say it again, Walford is not slow. The 18 yards per catch is evidence of that, and I've heard he runs in the 4.6 range.

I'd wager he smokes Sandland in a footrace.

Just an example of why 40 times don't mean much. Walford is pretty slow in the open field and we got to see that a few times last year.

Could have been conditioning though.

The Brit is the best Volleyball player on the football team. I agree though, he can get wide open but he isn't that fast and/or lacks the stamina after the catch.

Clive is a big time talent. He was a sleeper coming out of Glades and I think he has NFL potential. Like others have said though, we need to see what Coley does with the offense. Losing Fisch really ****ing sucked. Hate having such a huge question mark coming into what should be a big year.

Take comfort in the fact that Fish was an equally big question mark when Alshermond hired him. It would take a mongoloid to f#ck this offense up with the vast array of weapons available.

Knew he was going to be a player when I saw him practice in 2010. Watched him rip **** up on the scout team all year long.

I disagree, he lacks speed. He gets open in coverage and gets caught from behind. I would say he runs over a 4.7.

Walford wasn't getting open downfield by accident, or because Fisch discovered the secret of football. And how about KSU when he took a short pass 50 yards?

The guys running him down were corners that weighed 70 pounds less than him. Unless you're Vernon Davis, that's going to happen.

He definitely physically looks the part and he is still a pretty young guy so I guess it's possible. That and no other TE's stepped up and helped out in the passing game.

Still, he looked like he was running in water in the open field.

I'm not sure if I'd call him fast or slow, but he looks surprised/hesitant when no defenders are near after catching a pass.

On that play, I believe there was no defender in site for 20+ yards....what happened?

I think he is slower, you think he is not slow. I saw a guy get caught from behind or was winded. If he comes out thinner, I could see his speed/stamina improving.

Agree to do disagree.

He caught it in traffic, ran away from the backers and got run down by a corner that probably runs a 4.4.

Walford is either the luckiest slow guy in the world, or there is a reason why he averages 18 yards per catch.

Walford has caught at least one pass in 22 of the 24 games he's played. Averages nearly 15 yards/reception.

a 4.7 40 time would have made him one of the 10 fastest TE's at Combine this year.
Give me a guy who can find the open spot in the zone and actually catch the ball and we'll be just fine.

Agree to disagree. We will see if he can be a little faster this year.

Walford looks slow beause he doesnt have great burst or quickness. Most of what passes for speed in FB is acceleration and change of direction, not true 'speed.'
