Clemson DTackle gaining interest in Canes[emoji848]

Yep, Butch knows talent and knows how to get it and develop it - whether it's undiscovered talent or top-ranked talent.

Not just DTs - all positions - though QB was probably his weakest group overall.

Would much, much rather have a defensive guy as a HC than an offensive guy.

And this IS the defensive guy.

But Richt wasn't a bad choice. I'm just not sure if he can win championships. We'll know soon enough.

Butch Davis went out and signed the # 1 and 3 JUCO DTs. One is 6-4/300 and the other 6-5/350. He beat out a lot of sop schools for their services.

What does Davis signing two DT's have to do with TE's?

That is a complete lie.

The reality:

1. Tart-Spencer: Got kicked out of Last Chance U for fighting, lost all of his major offers.

2. Humphrey: Demanded to be a package deal with his brother, a 2* OL.

This is why they're at FIU. Look at the rest of FIU's awful class. If you think Butch actually beat out top schools for these two, you're delusional

People gonna make up **** to blow Butch up.Butch is /was a great evaluator of talent and a great recruiter but he's not beating out P5 schools for recruits at FIU

Boy the butch slurpers creep out real quick! Thanks for the free entertainment and showing your ignorance. I'm a butch fan but advise letting go of the past.

He will have to sit out a year. Miami needs bodies now and with the 2019 class loaded with DT's I am thinking this may be a reach on the staff's part that could back fire.

Clemson DT Sterling Johnson announced intention to transfer

Go Canes

Johnson (6'4/300) entered the collegiate ranks as a three-star recruit in Clemson's 2015 recruiting class. He played sparingly during his two active years with the program, amassing a total of 14 tackles and two sacks in that space. With his new program-to-be, Johnson will be eligible to play immediately come the start of the 2018 campaign. As tends to be the case with most transfers, he is currently being barred from moving on to any program on Clemson's schedule for the upcoming season. Feb 7 - 5:22 PM

He could've just answered the question with "looking forward to guys competing" without any reaffirmation of rosier as the starting qb just one example

I thought he had already said that there would be competition starting in the Spring but as of now Rosier is the starter. Someone still has to beat him out which is understandable.

Bethel played the season at 280-285. Shaq's dad came on here and said that he's gotten bigger. He's not playing at SDE.

Yes, we know Bethel is a DT. However, if necessary, he may have to play DE. We have five DEs, one coming off injury, one perennially injured, and one a skinny FR.

Sort of like Patchan last year -- we all know he's a DE. But we had no one to play TE, so we had to use him there.

We need recruiting to get to the point where we don't have these situations. No excuse in year 3 not to have close to an 85-man roster.

People are ****ed about the DT recruiting. I'm totally fine with it. Obviously a 3rd DT would be great. The DE situation is ******* bull**** though. What exactly were we doing with our recruitment of DE's? Not happy.

So now we're going to try and beat Clemson with players that couldn't get on the field for Clemson? That seems like a questionable strategy.

Please let this happen. Listed as a SDE in Clemson's scheme - would play inside here but might have the ability to play outside as well. Would be an immediate impact player with two years of eligibility left and would MAJORLY mitigate some of our recruiting problems here until we shore up the numbers.

No-brainer.

He weighed in at 301 lbs in August of 2016. He's a DT.

Yup. We could use one more DT. We could use two or three more DEs. Going into 3rd year, numbers still aren't where they should be on defense.

Better than using air. These are guys that likely were going to start next year if it wasn't for their across the board 1st round talent coming back for their senior year.

Well, we beat Nebraska in the 1984 Orange Bowl with a RB on the roster (Jimmy Austin) who transferred from that program.

That doesn't mean the kid can't play. I dont know if he's good or not but I'm just sayin. Plus, who in their right mind saw the ENTIRE line coming back for another year? He probably thought he'd have a much better chance of playing this upcoming season.

Of course it depends upon the situation.

Texas may have been happy to get rid of Colbert, but he worked out well for us.

Same with Berlin and Vogel from UF.

This could be another one if he does transfer in. And we do need more DL for this coming season since the staff under-performed on the recruiting trail.

Clueless.
Go pick a fight with a track guy.
How about Dylan Thompson who was a stud coming out of high school who is finally healthy after battling injuries and rehab for the past 3-4yrs? He benching 495 two times on his Twitter and is interested in coming to Miami. He can play DE or DT.
