Pretty much that he enjoyed his visit and the coaches want him to play 3-tech.

Sounds like he hasn’t made up his mind yet TBH.

Also said he will OV Miami either this weekend, or next.

Uhhhh, I just read the article and nothing leads me to believe he hasn't made up his mind yet. He sounds like he just took a visit to Florida.

PLANTATION, Fla. – Two weekends ago, four-star defensive end Andrew Chatfield took an official visit to local Miami. The 6-foot-2, 220-pound edge rusher discussed his trip to see the Hurricanes.

""It was alright," Chatfield said of his Miami visit. "Just talking with the coaches and just showing me the playbook and where I would fit in their defense."

Miami head coach Mark Richt was letting Chatfield know that he wants to defender in the Hurricanes class.

"He just wants me to be a Cane, and he just wants me to take my time and do what I have to do," Chatfield said.

This past weekend, Chatfield took a trip to Florida State to see the Seminoles.

"Yeah, it was alright too. That was cool. Coach [Willie] Taggart was telling me to be patient and pray about it and let it come to you. Mostly all the coaches are giving me the same thing."

The Seminoles are a bit of a new team in the race as Miami and Florida battled it out for much of the fall. What was the reason to visit FSU this late in the process?

"My mom was telling me to take my visits so I wanted to take one there. One of my friends there, Brian Burns is there and I was just talking to him. He wasn't really telling me too much about the school and he said I just have to feel it and be comfortable with where I am at."

Chatfield was scheduled to visit Florida this weekend. However, he now says that trip has been rescheduled for February 2.

"I just want to get the feeling and be comfortable and see how the coaches are," Chatfield said of his upcoming UF visit. "That's really it."

Last week, Gators head coach Dan Mullen visited with Chatfield.

"He was just trying to keep it real with me and telling me how it is and wasn't hiding behind anything."

Florida's is pitching a defensive scheme that fits Chatfield's playing style.

"Their scheme is a 3-4, so they want me to play the outside linebacker spot and I could rush the passer and drop back."

Chatfield would not say if a 3-4 or 4-3 scheme mattered by simply saying, "I just want to play football."

Does Chatfield have a leader heading into these final two weeks of they cycle?

"I like Miami," he said. "I can't say that are on top, but that are up there. They offered me late, but I am not looking at that."

Ultimately, it will come down to how Chatfield feels around the coaches and players that helps him make his final decision on National Signing Day.

"Just the vibe with the coaches and see how it really is and get down to the bones and stuff," he explained. "Just really trying to see how I would fit with the team and see how the players feel about me and stuff."

Another very pro UM article. My only concern is UF getting him on the last weekend.

Richt still has the in home. Go Wednesday and get him to unofficially visit...again.

Just need to survive this upcoming weekend with no big announcements. Goals for this weekend - keep Nesta committed and TC/PS2/Chatfield uncommitted. Then, get CMR to do in-home visits early in the week, lock in their OV's for the weekend of 2/2, and then it's on us to secure them on the coveted final visit weekend. Go canes!

This exactly -

- Campbell: Kirby gunna try to close this week and get him to cancel Miami OV

- PS2: Saban gunna try to close this week or next and get him to cancel Miami OV

- Chatfield: UF gunna try to get soft commit on OV this weekend, prob In Home next week

- Nesta: UF will prob In - Home this week or next and try to get him to cancel OV to Miami

Miami/CMR Plan -

- Keep Nesta committed and the 3 others uncommitted

- Richt In-Home next week with all 4 to lock in 2/2 OV weekend for all 4

- Close the deal on OV 2/4, right before quiet period and NSD

Let's see what happens

I'm a UF student and lifelong Canes fan and I have absolutely no idea why he come up here. City is wack, team sucks, new staff. Kid needs to open his eyes. Look whats going down with Chad Thomas right now, the dude is about to get PAID.

Sounds like you need to track them down this weekend and yell “GO TO MIAMI. STAY OUT OF THIS HELLHOLE.” as loud as you can.

He has to be seriously considering them first for that to work and as you probably read that’s not the case. He only went up there to see friends.

nesta to the gators? LMAO.....that's funny as **** and they are hallucinating

If you post "inside info" and it's good news, everybody loves it.
Post some bad inside info and you immediately become a bad guy and an unreliable source.

We weren't getting trolled by the kids when the news was optimistic, now all of a sudden a group of teenagers has developed a master prank to get UM fans riled up.

How about this...
Be a grown man and stop acting like over-emotional little girls over the decisions of teenage kids. It's sad how worked up this **** gets some of you guys. Take every piece of information with a grain of salt, understand that recruiting is fluid, and let **** play out.
The only one getting emotional is you. Grab some high-quality beard oil and pamper yourself with a nice conditioning treatment. I'd suggest something with a little soothing peppermint oil to relax you.

Anyone with even a scintilla of intelligence realizes your positive info and negative info is just chatter. There's nothing really there of any substance on the positive or negative tip. Some of us are discussing where we stand with the recruits and proposing our own theories. The fact that we aren't automatically accepting everything you're telling us as gospel doesn't mean we're overly emotional.

How 'bout you sit on my face and give me some of Franchise's own homemade organic beard oil?

Sounds like a date.

"Marco [Wilson] was one of my player hosts, James Houston, and Randy Russell. They were telling me it was a good school".

James Houston made it one full semester before he was suspended. Randy Russell enrolled two weeks ago. Marco Wilson arrived last June. So... Good school huh?

Could it be that Chatfield changed his UF OV to February so he can go to Tennessee this weekend with Nesta and TC? Just a thought

You guys saying "bags" for the AH4 are clueless. These 4 ain't Josh Jobe. They're too high character for that. This is going to be good ol' fashion'd man-up recruiting.

just passing along; FYI

PATRICK SURTAIN

American Heritage coach Travis Spiva told CaneSport on Thursday morning that Surtain has been home sick with the flu and might not take any visits this weekend. That could throw a wrench into having Surtain visit Miami the weekend before signing day, as he also wants to see Clemson (originally planned for this weekend) and Ohio State. Surtain’s father also wouldn’t be available to take a trip with Patrick this weekend since he’s attending the Pro Bowl as a Dolphins Coach of the Year nominee.

While Spiva said he couldn’t speculate on where Surtain might be leaning, CaneSport reached out to two other sources close to the situation:

Source 1: “LSU is first and then Bama and then Miami. I think he’s going to probably go on the visit (to UM) with Tyson and Nesta on the 2nd, that’s what they’re going to do and then go from there.”

Source 2: “I wouldn’t say Miami’s out of it, but Miami’s definitely not the frontrunner. I wouldn’t put them as 1 or 2. I would say it’s LSU first, then Bama, then Miami. Because of the family living here in South Florida, being happy living in South Florida and with two younger sisters in school they’re a possibility, though. I think they’re still weighing things out. I wouldn’t say he’s sure. I wouldn’t say Miami’s mathematically eliminated from the playoffs, so to speak.”

This source also said he thinks the family is “not sure” if Surtain will take an official visit to UM at this point.

TYSON CAMPBELL

Campbell is visiting Tennessee this weekend followed by Miami.

Spiva says Campbell is keeping his recruitment very quiet and it’s hard to say where he stands.

Here’s what two other sources close to the situation were saying about Campbell’s status:

Source 1: “Georgia is definitely ahead followed by ‘Bama and Miami. Miami’s running third in my opinion. He just likes the SEC type of ball and he loves Georgia. I think he’s infatuated a bit with `Bama because ‘Bama wins and plays for a national championship every other year plus they’re losing all their defensive backs so he can go and start right away.”

Asked if visiting UM the weekend before signing day can be a wildcard in Miami’s favor, the source said, “I think he’s just doing it out of respect for Mike Rumph.”

Source 2: “He’s going to Tennessee, maybe they can convince him but I can’t see him there. So I think it’s Georgia, Alabama and Miami. To be honest I don’t think he’s entirely sure. Where others may kind of know and are keeping it away from people, I think Tyson is really trying to sort it out. It’s a developing situation, use that term. He’ll take all the visits and then figure it out.”

ANDREW CHATFIELD

Chatfield is not taking any visit this weekend, per Spiva. “He’s done with visits but might be coming as a guest with Nesta (to UM the weekend before signing day; Chatfield already visited Miami officially).”

If that happens, of course, it would be a great chance for the Canes to try and send a final message as to why Chatfield belongs in Coral Gables. Spiva said he doesn’t have a sense for which way Chatfield is leaning.

The take of two other sources close to the situation on the talented recruit:

Source 1: Asked about the rumors that Chatfield may be swayed by having a girlfriend at UF, the source said, “I heard she’s involved but I also think FSU is a player also. The girlfriend is in Jacksonville, not in Gainesville. So Jacksonville and Tallahassee is closer, but I think ultimately it comes down to Miami and Florida.”

Asked his best guess as to which school wins out, the source doesn’t hesitate.

“Florida,” he says.

Source 2: “With Drew, anyone who thinks he would pick a school because his girlfriend is there is selling Drew short. He’s interested in his football career and wants to do really good things for himself. He’s going to make decision based on what would be best for him. There’s legitimate interest in Florida so no one should just discount them as distant in this process. But just how much interest he has in Florida is hard to say.”

NESTA SILVERA

Spiva confirmed that Silvera is set to take his official visit to Miami the weekend before signing day.

“He’s also going to visit Tennessee with Tyson this weekend,” Spiva said. “He said he’s committed and all that, is saying all the right things. But you can’t judge with some kids, they change their minds. It could be one thing one day, then the other thing.”

Here’s what a couple of other sources close to the situation said:

Source 1: “I think he ultimately decides to sign with Miami because his mother wants him to be close. He can be unpredictable, though.”

Source 2: “He visited Florida, now Tennessee and then will go to Miami. Anything can happen and I’ve told people that when it comes to Jade [Silvera’s nickname]. He’ll weigh things heavily, might feel one way at one point and then things can happen that can move him in another direction. He’s going to evaluate all the way up to the end. But Tennessee coming in late, I can’t see him winding up there.”

I really think anyone saying, "LSU" for PS2 is just guessing along with the rest of the people who read the Internet or Facebook. If you talk to anyone who is really close/r to that family circle, Alabama is the bigger threat by far. He may have grown up and LSU fan or whatever, but the Surtains aren't fools-- Orgeron isn't a compelling story in CFB at the moment.
