CFP Needed Cam Ward

Indiana and Tennessee both did not win there league nor made the conference championship game. Penn St. did not win there league. OsU did not make their conference championship and lost their last game just like UM.
AGAIN those programs get the benefit of a doubt and UM does not. ND lost to NIU but since they're ND they get a get out of jail free card. I'm sorry but if FSU or UF has Cam on their team this year with the same record as UM they both get in the CFP!!
After FSU last year, there was no benefit of the doubt. The ACC is not a Big 2 conference. Thus why FSU and Clemson fought to get out.

B1G: Oregon, OSU, Indiana, PSU
SEC: Georgia, Texas, Tennessee
ACC: Clemson, SMU
XII: ASU
G5: Boise St
At Large: ND

1. Oregon - Undefeated, B1G - Conference Champ
2. Georgia - SEC, Conference Champ - 11-2 - losses @Bama (#11) and @Ole Miss (#14)
3. Texas - SEC, Lost in Champ Game - 11-2 - lost twice to #2 Georgia
4. Penn St - B1G, Lost in Champ Game - 11-2 - lost to #1 Oregon and #6 OSU
5. ND - ND - 11-1, bad week 2 loss to NIU, won 10 straight - only 1 within 1 score
6. OSU - B1G, 10-2, loss by 1 to #1 Oregon and by 3 to rival Michigan
7. Tennessee - SEC - 10-2, bad loss to Arkansas, loss to #2 Georgia
8. Indiana - B1G - 11-1, loss @ #6 OSU
9. Boise State - 12-1, G5 Champ, loss by 3 @ #1 Oregon
10. SMU - ACC - lost in Champ Game - 11-2 - 3 point losses to BYU and #16 Clemson
11. Alabama - SEC - did not make playoff
12. Arizona St - XII - Conference Champ - 11-2
13. Miami - ACC - did not make playoff - 10-2 losses to GT and Cuse
14. Ole Miss - SEC - did not make playoff - 9-3 losses to Kentucky, LSU, Florida
15. USCe - SEC - did not make playoff - 9-3
16. Clemson - ACC - Conference Champ 9-3

People can argue all day, but the losses for Georgia, Texas, Indiana, OSU, Penn State and Tennessee are going to get the nod over our losses. Very few people will feel bad for the team that blew a 21-0 lead with the playoff on the line.

Would have been cool to see Cam in the playoffs

Trouble is that would have to come along with our defense. Instead of playing “what ifs” today it would have been more posts trashing 1,7,2 etc and how they cost us a chance for a run

Two teams that navigated the ACC better than us just got their asses kicked

But this is also why the Pop Tarts bowl matters even if the fans are butthurt and deem it “meaningless”

I said what I said...if FSU or UF have the same record this year as UM and either of those teams has Cam Ward as their QB they both make the playoffs. The only reason FSU did not make the CFP last year is because they lost their all everything QB; sucks but that's the truth!!

Perhaps the hard truth is.....the committee actually got it right and the playoff should have been only 8 teams (for now)? In every single game the favored home team won by 2 or more scores.

Just about every school plays only 1 P4 school OOC so it's hard to figure out which conferences are stronger in any given year (unless you allow preconceived bias into play like the SEC is immediately stronger). I think they picked the right teams based on the resumes out there.

And the reason for the playoff is to find a champion, not TV ratings. Do what is best for the sport, not what is best for the TV networks. If they do that, they will get the ratings. Chasing the ratings is part of the reason CFB is as screwed up as it is right now. Dictate to the networks how the sport is broadcast instead of giving the networks that power.

CFB is also dumb for putting the playoff eggs all in one basket in ESPN AND giving ESPN the power to sublet their games. In this case, 2 games on TNT while the FCS Semi-finals are broadcast on the big network (ABC). Are you kidding me?

Just look at the NFL. Have multiple TV partners, have confidence in the strength of your product, and they will pay. This isn't an up-and-coming sport trying to break into the TV airways like pickleball or the UFL.

That was the rationale given. FSU won 3 games to close the year out without Travis, including at UF and the ACC Championship Game.

Freaking Guidry had half the season to shore up his Defense somehow.
He clearly over his head at this level

I agree....but.... I'll throw a bit of a twist to it.... Last year we were sour on Dawson and the offense.... We get Cam and end up with the #1 Offense in the country.... If by chance Mario got Guidry the pieces needed to shore up the backend of the D could we possibly see a more improved Defense??? And by no means am I saying we would turn into the #1 D in the country.... Just saying good enough to better compliment the Offense...
Of course this is under the assumption that Guidry is still here next season..... Most here including myself think he's gonzo.....

Yeah, man. The first team Paul Finebaum mentioned was Miami, insinuating the Canes likely needed to be in over SMU and Indiana and that the committee got it wrong.
I hate this. The committee didn’t get anything wrong except the seedings. Somehow the conf champ losers got easier paths than the winners.

They had no choice but to put these 12 teams in. You can’t put Miami or Bama or whoever in over SMU or Indiana. If we’re just throwing in the best or most entertaining teams in regardless of results on the field, then why play the games?

They put us down all year and now this? Lol

Exactly.

All year long we've been hearing about how the ACC was weak and how the ACC refs were TRYING to help Miami so that the ACC team could get 2 teams into the CFP (though Miami was the 2nd-most-penalized team in the ACC behind SMU).

Then, when they have **** all over us for a 5-point road loss and a 4-point road loss (to a Top 25 team currently) and the ACC ends up getting 2 teams into the CFP Top 12 ANYHOW, suddenly everyone remembers how awesome it would have been to have the #1 offense in the country, led by a Heisman finalist, going up against, say, NOTRE DAME...

Nope. The SEC-SEC-SEC conducted a months-long propaganda campaign that resulted in the "It Just Means More" conference getting exactly ONE MORE TEAM into the CFP compared to the ******-****** ACC.

And don't even get me started on the massive effort the CFP spent to make the first four games, essentially, HOME GAMES in nearly every respect, as they belatedly bemoan all the blowouts that happened. SO SHOCKING. So unforeseen...

Good job, everyone!

And he will continue to be employed until at least the 28th of December
