CFP Needed Cam Ward

After watching the first four games, if I was on the committee, I am never leaving a team with a Top 5 QB out of the playoff again assuming his team is borderline deserving. I generally think most of the hypotheticals are lame and that each game shouldn't be a referendum on worthiness because football is a random sport and home field seemed like a massive advantage. But what is the best neutralizer for home field advantage? An experienced, battle-tested and playmaking QB.

I get why Miami was left, of course. And I am not saying Miami would have beaten any of the four teams that won (although Penn State felt the most vulnerable). And our defense likely would have made me pull every single hair out of my head en route to a 52-38 loss. But Ward and that offense were built to handle those loud environments and would have made those games way more interesting (apologies to Clemson, who did show SOME life offensively).

With quarterback play as mediocre as ever this season, the committee missed the boat by leaving Ward and this offense out of the playoff. At the very least, there would have been some fireworks.
Agree to disagree because I don't know why UM was left out. Miami lost 2 games on the road by an combined score of 9 points and had a chance to win one of those games. I'm sorry but the SOS and the eye test Miami is a better team then all first round road teams and some home teams!!

**** them all. I don't care what they have to say. Let them continue to hype up these whack playoffs as cfb spirals the drain.

I haven't heard ONE person in NY say to me, "You gonna watch the CFB playoffs?"

LOL.

Not a single person.

To be fair NY not really known to be a college football place. U guys are more big into the basketball scene

Sorry man but we passed no eye test on defense other than causing blindness. We did not do enough to bring in the talent on D for multiple cycles and it showed.

Frustrating.

Because Miami is in the ACC so their “eye test” came with more of a skewed view than others. The best thing these playoffs can do is prove that conference favoritism should be disregarded. That being said, I don’t know if it’s fair to go back and say Miami should’ve been in over these road teams just because they were blowouts. Maybe the higher seeds are just better teams in a better tier of football and doing what higher seeds do to lower seeds in tournament settings. Are good teams not allowed to win by a certain amount of points now? It’s like every game should’ve been a 1 point overtime thriller according to the public .. people forget this is a playoff and higher seeds are supposed to do this lol. I do think Miami’s offense could’ve made any of these games more interesting but we still blew our own destiny with the two losses we had so it’s hard for me to say we deserve anything other than what we got. Miami could’ve made things interesting with our offense and we still didn’t deserve to be in. Both can be true

If this is year 2/3/4 of the playoff the committee probably puts us in.. but unfortunately this is year 1 and lessons are being learned, us being one of them.

We had the number 1 offense and the worst ACC defense. What a nightmare combo to go into the playoffs. Fun lol if you're not rooting for the Hurricanes or whoever were playing

We also play OFFENSE....so no I don't agree!!
#1 offense in the country and defense may be bad but I bet we are not the worst defense in the country!! Math ain't mathing.

I can see that. Definitely more of a pro town. Don't sleep, though. NYers love football.

There is a HUGE Penn State and Notre Dame fanbase up here. Tons of front running casuals... In years past I'd hear people hyping BAMA, FSU, Georgi, etc.

Haven't heard anyone hyping this **** up. Not a soul.

Will be interesting to see their ratings. That ND game if Miami played would have drawn 15-20 million. Same if you plug in Bama against PSU. Instead Id be surprised if the ND/IU game drew more than 10 million.

I was wondering the same thing. I agree with you.

I'd love to know what ND vs Indiana drew nationwide.

Same for SMU and PSU. Or, PSU vs Boise (or whatever whack matchup they have).

It's Sunday, December 22nd. Guidry is still employed. Enough said
And he will continue to be employed until at least the 28th of December

there are a lot of Michigan fans in the city. usually a ton of people who moved to the city for work so there are some good CFB bars up there.

GT and Cuse did basically whatever they wanted and we could not stop it. It was really bad. Offense was incredible, but clearly not enough.

We have seen games like these play out in the past where once a team makes a mistake (or several - SMU) it goes down hill fast. ND and PSU were the better overall teams, but once Indiana and SMU shot themselves in the foot, it was going to be hard to win on the road against a better team.

OSU looked strong yesterday. Rematch with Oregon should be good.
