CFP Committee Ranking

I will never trust a committee or a computer to judge us fairly. With that said here's my best guess for Tuesday rankings:

1. Oregon
2. Georgia
3. Ohio State
4. Canes
5. BYU
6. Texas
7. Indiana
8. Penn State
9. Tennessee
10. Notre Dame
11. SMU
12. Boise State
They will definitely have 1-2 more SEC teams in the top 12.

I think they will rank it as if the playoffs are today, meaning top 4 conference teams are 1-4.

So Miami at 3 and BYU at 4.

If they just do a straight up ranking, we shouldn't be less than 4 (we should be ahead of Georgia).

They lost basically no spots for losing to a bama team that lost the next week to vandy. And they struggled against Kentucky and Gators (who they eouldve lost to if Lagway doesn't get hurt). Beck has thrown 3+ picks in 3 games already.

Georgia is getting a massive SEC boost rn.

The Georgia win over Clemson took a hit too. Now that we have a common opponent with them, that alone should have us ahead of Georgia, simply based on the results of those games. I think they are getting too much credit for beating a Texas team that was getting over hyped for wins over Michigan and Oklahoma. Texas hasn't impressed me to be honest.

I don't have an issue with Oregon and osu being ahead of us, but we should be 3. Also, if you changed Indiana's name to LSU, they would be top 5 as well

Ohio State will be ahead of UGA in my opinion. They have a better loss (close loss to Oregon vs close loss to Bama) AND arguably a similar win as UGA (win over PSU away vs win over Texas away).
I expect the unexpected as these rankings will have no correlation to the AP poll & none of this ever makes 100% logical sense anyways.

I was thinking of putting LSU in that 12 spot. TAMU would've been 10 or 11 if they hadn't choked last night. The media machine though has been slurping Jeanty Heisman campaign & Boise as darlings so I put them in at 12.

I don’t understand this line of thinking unless you don’t watch any other games besides Miami. Is there 8 or 9 teams better than Miami? If so, who? Because everyone has holes in their resume right now.

Honestly I’m not sure who should even be #2 behind Oregon.
Ohio State. Their loss is to Oregon and they just beat #3 in their house.

You could get the 5 and play Boise and then the big 12 winner. Which yes it’s an extra game, but an easier path than drawing an Ohio state or Oregon after the bye. I’m just spit balling here. But that 5 seed path is kinda nice
I think you are underestimating the advantage of playing one less game here. In terms of fatigue, injuries and prep. Ultimately you also play to win and if our goal is to try to win it all, we will need to beat the best either way so dodging those teams is irrelevant IMHO.

That all said, I think we should be 3 at worst 4.

With the first ranking coming out Tuesday, what does everyone think here. The committee needs to prove they are needed and always start their ranking way different than the polls. I think they will say they are not impressed with who we have played and put us in 7-8.
The committee was never needed in the first place, just a playoff to provide deserving teams and opportunity to compete. The committee was solely created with the purpose of manipulating the rankings for TV ratings.

First off, Beat Syracuse because nothing else matters. However, unlike the (albeit programmed with flaws) faceless computers that screwed Miami in the 2000 BCS, the CFP Committee is actually composed of humans...With bias, flaws and self-intrests. Lots of discussion here on the committees's releases, but no examination of the people putting out the end product which holds so much impact (especially $$$$) to College Athletics.

On the face of it Grobe, Williams and Gladchuck should be helpful if the unthinkable happens, but powerful SEC bias with Pinkel, Riley, and Yurachek are present. The Big 12 one bid argument may not hold swayed the conference gets a boost with Western guy Ault, Rhoades, Shields, and McDaniel. Oh the B1G in trouble? Nah, Manuel is the head of the commitee and holds outsized influence, plus the Miami of Ohio AD guy, Sayler, knows if he wants to move up in the Midwest, he better play B1G ball. As for the Whiteside wildcard, what conference has a cushy communications director job ready for her after this gig? "Journalists "now rate about the same on the cooked linguini integrity scale as "Buy Here Pay Here" used car salesman, so she is easily bought off by the highest bidder.

Any other thoughts on these esteemed paragons of virtue?
