Carson Beck

He was at atrocious as times , the UF was vomit worthy. This isn’t Bobo and Dawson has a qb friendly offense. I’m sure we add a stud or two at wr now that we have a proven qb. More than likely after spring.
that middle stretch of the season literally killed any shot he had of going day 2. he was that bad.

im happy w beck bc its a lot better than emory and we have a shot in those big games early on now

his eyes were bad in his picks. those picks were crushing and would have killed a team who didnt have as good of a defense as UGA did.

im hoping hes better this year especially w it being his last chance.
I agree. There’s moments he tried way too hard. The question I have is, if the sum of his parts on offense are better, does he still press the issue as much? He was much more dialed back with a good running game and dependable pass catchers in 2023. If we can provide that, not saying we need Bowers, but give just solid play, would he be the 2024 version or the 2023?

Did Beck come to us first and we said no?

Will be interesting if he starts against ND game 1 which is the team that injured him and ended his time at UGA.

This is fair. This year, his OL was awful, his WRs dropped a ton of passes, and UGA struggled to run the ball, but Beck also made some astoudingly bad decisions. He'll have a much better OL here, hopefully WRs that drop less passes, and we should be able to run the ball better than UGA did this year. Beck will have to make much better decisions next year than he did this year.

Am curious about this though:

Who are the QBs who went in the portal you would have taken over Beck? I have Mateer, and I think an argument could be made for Chandler Morris as a safer pick (no elbow injury, much more mobile, and he was okay when he started for TCU in '23) but with a much lower ceiling than Beck.

I would have preferred Robertson or Hoover over Beck too but they didn't enter the portal.

You did see TVD against MTSU, correct? Is that throw anywhere close to the first two INTs here?

A throw late over the middle into triple coverage? Yeah. It’s as bad as those two.

(And to be fair nothing from that game jumps first to mind since it was like watching a game through glasses that have the wrong prescription)
