Clearly below Mateer. Maye not as purely talented as like Jackson Arnold. But dude is honestly the clear 2nd best Portal QB thus far if we are being honest.

I didn't want him earlier because of the Injury and the money he'd cost. At this point if the injury checks out and we are sure he's going to be helthy by summer, I don'tthink we even have a hope at a better prospect. And as far as the NIL is concerned it just is what it is. And he's surely just using Texas Tech to raise the price even more. Hopefully its <$4M. I don't think he is the best performance/$ in portal (I'd have Mendoza and Morris above). So like at worst he's probably the 4th best Qb we could have gotten?

If it works out, Its pretty good.

Again I said this weeks ago, but you don't get projected as a top overall pick in the draft as a Senior like he was entering the season if you aren't at least a good college Qb.

I don’t think beck is clearly below mateer. I think a down year for QB’s in the portal made mateer shine brighter.

One of my least favorite QBs I’ve watched of late. Primarily because he didn’t get off his spot well at all, yet was spoken relatively highly about - I mean, some claimed he was a Top 5 pick or higher. So, that made him fully dependent on others - run game, OL, OC - to be competent. ‘But, isn’t that all QBs, Lu?’ Absolutely not. Some can get off their spot. Obviously, we cannot expect Ward every year, but Ward could do that and so much more.

I do expect a QB to occasionally ‘beat’ defenses and extend plays either with his pocket movement, his brain, running ability, or a combination. For a ‘highly rated’ guy (forget the #1 overall pick chatter), I find not having those abilities to be aggravating, at best. Highly rated, expensive QBs should provide offenses competitive advantages and scare opposing defenses. But, hey…

What do I expect of Beck if he joins us? Definitely more than I expected from Emory, and probably more than we got from TVD. I tried to think of a comparison off the board and the best I could come up with for Beck is a LESSER version of Mac Jones or Goff and those types. **Edit: since it was already misunderstood or manipulated, those player mentions are about style of play - NOT results.

If he ends up with us, I hope we significantly adjust what we do and what we focus on. Or, that Beck finds a footwork/movement coach.

It's got to be national champs or bust for OSU. They lose to Texas and they have another reason to fire their coach. First, was losing to Michigan. Now, they're the overwhelming favorite to win it all, so he definitely can't lose.

The portal will fill with buckeyes... so we'll win out a QB battle as we have a coach that's not going anywhere.

His 2024 season would be the second best season by a UM quarterback in at least 20 years.

Remember Can Ward was a walking turnover who was going to fumble away at least three games for us in 2024, right?
 
When I hear the "source/agent" say, "We arent going to make an emotional decision"...thats him saying, "Im trying to convince this idiot to let me do my job and get his head out that blonde chicks puss for one second and let me land him the best possible deal but he wont listen!" LOL. Beck is probably on South beach as we speak. Giving away all leverage. lol.

Any chance he would enter the Portal? Heard he hasn’t been around since he’s been hurt. Isn’t he dating one of the Cavenders?

More than TVD when TVD was cooking, or post Georgia Tech fiasco? If it's the former, that's good enough for me with a bigger emphasis on running and pray to God a better defense.

So then is it your opinion that this is about as good as we could have realistically got in this portal class at QB *With the major asterisk being depending on how he recovers/rehabs from his injury then?

All good points. I think our fans don’t really understand the standard of a place like that where Day is still on the hot seat despite blowing out UT and Oregon

I just personally from what I’ve heard already don’t think OSU is actually interested

But lord knows I’ve been shocked before

Interesting that you think that I still think he's safe but it's only because people have seem to galvanize around their program

Well there were other names that were a possibility and didn’t come to fruition so no. But he’s better than meteer TO ME. Meteer is just much more fun with a higher ceiling
