Carson Beck

Who are the better perceived options?

I was labeled a Cuban supremacist for saying Mendoza would be a good addition. Now he went somewhere else and he’s Johnny Unitas.
Well, I think most people here would take Mendoza over Beck. Definitely over Emory.

But, the vitriol is being directed in our direction because I think most here would’ve been like, ok, Mendoza it is, despite what was said here. Let’s roll into the season,

but somehow, the head man in charge is passing on Mendoza and that decision is being blamed on the people here on CIS that don’t have the power to make decisions.

Are we are supposed to buy “yeah, let’s invest in the 1 arm QB from Georgia” whatever the finances will be and roll with him because we aren’t naming others not in the portal as options.

What the **** was the plan?

Please tell me they didn’t have only Mateer. What if it didn’t fall our way? It sure as **** doesn’t look like there was a plan beside him and if there was, it can’t possibly be that the plan was to pass on Mendoza and try for Beck or Ewers .

What The **** is going on at Hecht?

Bringing in a turnover machine with an arm that needs surgery would be hilarity lol. I’m sorry. Spring ball matters especially in the portal era . We need all the snaps in the world for skill guys . If he had two functioning arms then it wouldn’t be as bad. Give him money and hope he recovers fully. Then hope he plays well which is a crap shoot in itself. Where’s Ben Stiller from Along came Polly. We need some risk management in Coral Gables / CIS.
It would 100% be indefensible.

@DMoney Beck got his surgery from the same surgeon as Purdy, correct? Do you know if there are other QBs who have gotten the same surgery from the same surgeon and how they have fared after? I worry that we're speculating that Beck will be good as new come Spring/Summer based on a sample size of 1.

Is there no senerio that emery is ready in their opinion? Is you can't get a clear upgrade you roll with him
Or is he the same kid he was 4 months out of school 2 seasons ago?
There was a time in college football kids sat and developing developed
I'm not saying he's the guy but no dipshlts on here know he isnt

I think this would be a decent move. Who would pay millions for Mendoza...idiots? Same with the Tulane QB. The portal is really becoming Russian Roulette with high prices to pay for mediocre players. There is no Cam this year--not even Mateer.

I don't even think Beck is the target. I am just hoping they get Emory enough playing time Sat to be better informed of what to do. Both defenses in this game are so bad I don't know what playing well tells us, though. I just want to feel as confident in Emory as the staff talks. They lied about Jacurri the whole time he was here while their actions told you the truth. We saw how terribly inaccurate he was. I have to see Emory's improvement for myself.

Carson Beck is a phenomenal option. He plays great in a clean pocket and within the structure of an offense. He is the ideal version of Emory Williams. He would do great here with our skill position players especially if we are willing to run the ball next year.

Yeah, well, @DMoney is implying that everyone here rather roll with Emory, who hasn’t proven anything vs going with Beck or someone else. Obviously, most here don’t want to roll with Emory.

The staff is looking for someone better than him.

Hey, if Mario wants to roll that dice and risk it all on Emory, well, have at it.

I see what you are saying and it certainly looks this way at this point but there’s no **** way Mario is risking next September or all of year 4 with Emory Williams. I always assumed Mendoza was the guy but looks like we passed. Obviously MC has something up his sleeve.

I'm sure if an upgrade becomes avaliable he will look.
Beck sucks
Maybe ewers is there but if it's always a gamble to play prospects why do recruit anyone. At some point we got to go with a home grown qb

All due respect and speaking only for myself - I am past the “MC has something up his sleeve” stage.

I feel like he’s playing chicken one too many times in this new era of college football and sooner or later, that risk tragedy will end up burning up his face.

Mario wears short sleeves most of time too. Castellanos already signed with FSU, so not sure which other QB he could hide up his sleeve

I said it would be smart to play emery a half Saturday to see what he can do. Would make a decision easier the goon squad went ballistic about getting him game experience in meaningless bowl game

Beck is a shiny name
Bet if we watched emery and beck play not knowing who was who the majority would like emery over Beck
Come on man. This is an absurd take. What is it even based on? Literally no one except members of his fan club, would watch Emory limp noodle the ball 3 yards beyond the los and think he's better thank Beck.

I'm not even trying to call you out. I just can't understand what the "Emory should start" stuff is based on.

Is it because the coaches "like him"? What if that means they like having him in the locker room, but not as a starter? I mean.. They're actively trying to recruit over him for a reason.

@DMoney called him a game manager. @Memnon has repeatedly said he's not the answer.

What is it?

So basically if we take Beck he has, what, 20 something practices with the offense until we take on ND?

We can go back and forth about his performance at UGA all day, I just don’t see how you take him as a plug and play when he is about to undergo major surgery on his throwing arm.
