Carson Beck

I don't see the hatred for Beck. Is he great? Nah. But any QB won't survive under Bobo. If his arm is fine, he'll be fine. He's a good QB that would put up very decent numbers if he came here.

Dawson made Clayton Tune a 5th rounder. The notion that Mendoza would for sure be better here is conjecture at best, as we simply don't know that.

Beck is being graded on a harsh curve based on his preseason projection (#1 overall) and our QB this year (the best in America).

The guy would be a very good and experienced ACC quarterback, assuming his elbow bounces back like Brock Purdy.

Question, why wouldn't Beck just play for UGA next year? They clearly aren't ready to hand the reigns to Rashada if he's not getting the snaps now with Beck injured.
Kirby may think their struggles this year had more to do with their inability to run the ball and some defensive lapses, which he views as fixable problems than QB play. I don't think he'd be entirely wrong. He might be fine rolling with Stockton and being tuffer and moar fyzikal next year.

If we did get Beck, we'd obviously have a QB with an NFL arm who can scramble and pick up a 1st down if needed. He would have the arm to capitalize on the overall increase of speed for our WR corp and potentially make us a big play nightmare for any team that we played against.

The most concerning thing, and one that I assume Dawson and Mario are looking into is - why did he cave a couple of times this year? To be clear: not "Why did he lose a couple of games" but "Why did he implode" a couple of times this year? Beyond his health, that would be the number one thing I'd want to know.

Big picture: I still don't expect a serious run at a natty, but I do feel that we need to win at least 10 wins or the slow death spiral for Mario will begin and I just don't want that. I want Mario to pull a Harbaugh and finally win.

Bring on Beck, let's get those 10 wins and anything above that is icing.

Other people watch college football, too. I suspect that if Beck does enter the Portal, his Portal ranking from those people will be at the top of the market.

Cam Ward was special because he was money every game (at least under Cristobal). But good players have bad games. Go through the game logs of the players you listed. They all have multiple disasters. The guys who don’t (Manning, Sayin) haven’t played.

This is a player with traits, production and, most importantly, experience. If we’ve learned anything from watching QB play in college and pro the past two years, it’s that snaps matter. This guy has been tested against the best and produced.
Luke Kromenhoek is at the top of the portal rankings this year as well. Did you watch him play this year? He was awful. Portal rankings are a fallacy. Eyes don't lie and Beck has significantly regressed this year. Plus he just got Tommy John surgery yesterday which is a massive question mark.

The truth is you are just trying to pump him up because he is the targeted next QB and it is your job as an extension of the program to sunshine pump. Stop parading the lies around here.

Is Beck better than what we have right now? Sure, absolutely. He's a battle tested guy playing in the toughest conference in the country. He also had to suffer under OC Bobo the Clown, who'd make any QB look like ****.

However, it's a massive risk considering his injury. Likely wouldn't play in the spring. Too much of a risk. Also, why wouldn't he just stay at UGA?

I like Mendoza, too. I suspect his reputation on this board will increase now that he’s not coming.

One advantage I see with someone like Beck is that he’d be one and done to hand it off to Luke Nickel. Mendoza had the extra year.
This is a good point. Would be a seamless transition. His injury though is a massive risk. Purdy did respond well to it, but I don't trust our medical staff to make it work, as our guys seem to always have injuries linger much longer than other teams.

If I was trying to sunshine pump, I'd be hyping the QBs in the room already.

One of three things is going to happen: (1) Beck will go pro and get drafted; (2) Beck will return to Georgia as a preseason Heisman contender; or (3) Beck will enter the Portal and immediately jump to the top of everyone's rankings.

In all circumstances, the external valuation of Beck will far exceed what I'm reading on here.

He isnt going to be ready for next year. If that elbow isnt fully torn I'd be shocked.

I know JayCane mentioned one suggesting rehab. Anytype of tear needs some fixing.

If its a full tear just get the surgery, probably get drafted in the 4th-6th and get ready for 2026. If its a partial... maybe get lucky and be ready by September.
Purdy completely tore his and was back for training camp for the niners. Whoever his surgeon was, Beck and his people would be smart to contact him.

At this point I hope we end up stuck with Emory because ain't no way dudes in here saying nah to Beck, Ewers and Mendoza.

Tested against the best and produced? He was so bad against Texas twice. Defense saved him both games. In the sec championship uga looked better as soon as Stockton came in. He sucked against Uf, he sucked against ole miss. He was awful int he first half vs bama and that cost them the game. That’s way too many bad games

Reasonable or not, keep that mopey faced front runner as far away from Miami as possible. You couldn’t have two more polar opposites than Cam and Carson. A guy looking to prove everyone wrong and pursing a dream vs a guy potentially looking for a comfortable landing spot where his girlfriend lives.

The program needs to be player driven and led because Mario ain’t gonna be where it comes from. Not with the pulse of the team. I don’t know the options but if they’re paying top of the market money for a bus rider like Beck that would be money well spent elsewhere. Beck won’t elevate Miami. He’ll play exactly to Miami’s level. And unless I’m missing something Mario ain’t Kirby. So we’re staring 8-4, 9-3 in the face with Beck as a guy whose best attribute is “at least he’s not Emory”

Mahomes could enter and half the board would pass lol Some of these guys tried to tell us Cam Ward would suck here.

Since Dawson did such a masterful job with Cam, do you think Dawson might be able to coach out of Beck these lapses during key games or is your take that this is just baked into him and you'll get a couple of abominations a year along with some 400+ yeard passing/highlight games?
