0.0% chance that happens. Indiana is and will always be a basketball school. See UNC.
Throw in the B1G bluebloods and there's no way. Could I see them being a top 20 team here and there? Sure. Again, see UNC. Yearly Top 20 at worst? No way.

Don't take this personally.

Difference is they are committing to football unlike UNC. They gave Cignetti the 2nd highest assitant pool in the country at 11 million with a commitment to NIL. They have a huge alumni base that's just getting a taste of how good they could be.

What are the timestamps for when Tarvos and DJ made their announcements? I don't see it on the video.

Probably should have posted it here. Was this class supposed to be small to focus more on the portal . Dbs qb ?
I'm sure they'd have taken the commitments of Nix, Stubbs, Pickett, Alford, Vernon, Hanks and Carter - so no.

There’s plenty for people to pick at if they want to. We’re at 14 or 15.

In defense of Mario, if he doesn’t have top NIL dollars, he can only do so much in today’s day but that also makes him an awful choice as HC for us if that’s the case because he’s not going to overcome talent deficiencies with talent identification, development and coaching prowess.

I’m hoping we kill it in the portal but the same teams paying more to HS kids today can and will do the same in the portal.
That suck tax is gonna really gonna suck when it has to depend on Mario‘s coaching

Overall, the close sucked but the class is good. It’s not a top 15 class that got there by pumping numbers into it.

Nickel is the best qb recruit in Mario’s time here. It’s not close, like at all. Unless Coleman puts on some weight quick to challenge him Luke is a multi-year starter here.

Pringle, I’m not nearly as high on as others. He’s super small. I think he’s talented but we have shown no ability to utilize that kind of back.

Whoever called the receiver class below average is out of their mind. Upshaw is the most underrated kid in this class, and the only close second is Buchanan imo. Moore finally gives us some size on the outside. I don’t think Toney is a game breaker but if he can be a consistent slot, great.

Buchanan and SJ are as good as any of the other linemen we’ve signed in Mario’s time imo, outside of Francis. Those two are nasty. Not a fan of the tackles but I’ll trust them there.

Lowe and Scroggins are dudes. Newton is a tweener but has the body composition of the kind of dude that crushes it at Pitt or NC State and we wonder how people didn’t see it.

Wiley, dude. His senior film is hilarious, dude is just out there killing kids. With him and Pruitt, finally some speed at linebacker. Marcelin will never be more than depth but shouldn’t need to be with that room continuing to build. Not getting 3 here is the biggest whiff outside of secondary imo

No clue what to make of the secondary. I’m not an Ewald fan at all. But I also wasn’t an OJ fan at all. Gotta hope Jaboree and Amari come back from injury looking the same, and who knows what they’ll do with Fitzgerald.

**** 90.29 is good for 11th best in the SEC

That’s embarrassing
Will there be a Thoughts from the Bench Press on recruiting? Here is your opening statement.

No question imo the recruit that is the worst loss to me is Ben Hanks. Though with him being a legacy at UF, it's not a suprising loss especially with UF turning on the jets for NIL in the last couple weeks.

QB - Really like Nickel. And I've been saying Portal QB and a low 4 star to high 3star our of HS with potential OR Literally the top QB in HS needs to be our strategy. Ultimately what we do at QB in the Portal and how that effects how we spend on every other position is the most important thing for this season upcoming.

RB - Pringle. Like him and am fine with 1 RB this class. This is good. We may have to get a portal RB simply because Ajay Allen is probably leaving and Martinez probably declares. But I'm fine where we are at RB.

WR - Below average to solid class. I mean it's worse than last years class imo. But it's not like Moore, Upshaw, and Toney is bad... Think no matter what we need to get the best portal WR available.

TE - Schott looks legit and Luka seems like he can be a good developmental piece. Better than like Carver potential wise. Seems like at worst he'll be like a McCormick type that is useful in the blocking game. Good TE class. I could see us getting a portal TE, but Don't think we need to or anything.

OL - Another good class imo. I really like Alofaituli and Buchanan a lot. The other two have good long-term potential to be developed. Again I really don't question these types of takes much with Mario. OLine is something you want to get like at least 1 guy that can contribute within 2 years, but the others are more 3 year projects. No problem with this class for me. I think next year is the class we need to land a 5star OT. And again I think we don't need to hit portal at OLine. If there is a top guy that wants to come here, sure. But otherwise not super necessary.

DT - Below average class 100%. Donta Simpson and Mykah Newton. Its not very surprising given last class, which was legit at DT. But still not a good class. I think we have to let the young Dline take over. We could still use a Good DT in portal just as a floor setter. But Moten and Horton should be counted on to step up along with our young guys.

EDGE - Solid average class. Again like DT not surprising that we don't get super elite guys given last class, but ultimately I like Lowe and Scroggins. So This is solid. Nothing crazy or very bad here imo. We legit need to get an EDGE contributor for sure imo.

LB - This seems bad, but ultimately Wiley + Marcelling is probably as good or better than like Alford + Nix... This all depends on Wiley. Lots on here have been saying they view Wiley as legit the best LB in the country. So I mean if that is the case, can you really say this is anything but a good LB class? Sure maybe it's not what we ultimately wanted, but it's still good imo. I like where we are at LB entering next season, and don't think we need to hit the portal.

S - This imo is a complete failure. We sucked at Safety this year, and got no safeties. Need to hit the portal hard. Like we need 2 guys that can start AND a guy with multiple years still. So I'd take 3 total Safeties in the portal.

CB - Honestly this is a better class than most will want to say WHEN compared to our previous handful of classes. Not what we needed though so still a fail. But the class is fine as a whole. Antioine looks legit to me and was a massive recruiting win. Fitzgerald is a CB imo and I think can be a good one. Good ball skills and athleticism. His physicality means he's not a safety. Ewald is a solid to good player. If Carter recovers fully he seems like he could be legit good too. Problem is we needed a class like we signed at DLine last year or Oline two years ago. That didn't happen. We need MINIMUM 2 starting level CBs in the portal.

PORTAL summary, Need: QB1, 1 WR, 1 Rotational DT, 1 Starting level EDGE, 5-6 DBs....
Mostly agree but I think you're underselling Edge quite a bit. Scroggins is technically sound with good size & Lowe was the # 3 overall player in all of Cali, think of how many kids play hs ball in that state.........yeah that'll do, and he's already 240-245 ready to go.

HS class was underwhelming, but don’t worry boys, the path to winning is simple

- Replace 8-10 NFL players
- Replace the best OC in CFB this year
- Replace his DC and multiple position coaches
- Sign a top 5 portal class

What could go wrong?
Bruh you're losing your **** today... get it together.

Great point on Newton, fits that description to a T. A lot of the ceiling of this class will depend on what we get from the db's. I like Antoine & Wallace a lot but they gotta get healthy asap. Fitzgerald I think is better served as a WR but we gotta turn him into a CB (maybe he becomes dynamic kick returner), he might be biggest boom or bust kid in the class. And Ewald seems to have some tools to work with but in same vein looks to be very limited athletically. Hitting on 2/4 db's is critical, 3/4 would be a God send.
