Canes were 7-0 in 2013, finished 9-4

Please stop comparing those types of teams to our current one. It’s not even close. This team is light years better than 2013 and 2017.

****, we have ONE close game (that we still won) and all of the sudden we’re no better than we were under Al Golden? Come on now. Be better than that.

If you want to say we’re not quite at championship level yet, I can get it. We’re probably just below the absolute best teams but still good enough to make a run in the playoffs, especially if Cam keeps playing at a Heisman level.
Exactly. And one name---

Mark D'Onofrio

who is the running for worst DC in cfb history. Guy was a clueless moron and Golden's butt boy

I don't agree with the Playmaker. We haven't turned a corner. We won't have turned the corner until the season is over, and we look up to see us standing undefeated headed into the playoffs.

2013 Miami Hurricanes faced a similar schedule and had lots of talent on that team, too. Guys like Perryman, Duke, Dorsett, Allen Hurns, Clive Walford, Stephen Morris, Tracy Howard, older Linder, Flowers, Chickillo, etc.

In Game 6, we played UNC and had many of the same failures we saw vs. Va Tech on Friday. Had to come from behind after Morris had 4 interceptions. Everyone was convinced we had turned the corner. In game 8, we lost to a Crab Legs-led #3 FSU, and we could write that off given his heroics in that game. But then we lost to VT and Duke in quick succession.

We don't face anyone like Winston this season. So how does 2024 sustain winning and especially avoid beating itself against lesser opponents? We've been total *** the last 20 years in conference play. And I can't take another 9-3 season with a secondary bowl loss.
Maybe we haven't turned the corner because we haven't shown enough long term consistency of competing on a national championship level like decades ago then we certainly are on that corner and Cam Ward is driving like it's he's in Fast and Furious: Tokyo Drift.

granted , we have been very mediocre the last 20, yes 20 seasons. VT game was a prime example of past 20 years in the fact that we would have lost . we made 3 TO's
and were down 10 in 4Q and came back and won.... thats old time Miami.hopefully we have seen a cultural change in program. talent level is way, way up, staff is strong as well as strong support team in place.team "seems" to be more mature and serious about the task at hand. Rome was not built in a day & program did not completely fall in a moment ...... take a deep breath and check back in DEc

I've said it once and I'll say it again: We have some of the worst fans in collegiate athletics. The mope is strong with this fanbase, it's almost like our fans can't stand success.

Will this team win a title? Who knows. Is this team significantly better than last years? Yes. Enjoy the **** ride, barring Cam getting hurt this is going to be fun.

I don’t think we can talk about the canes being back till next season after a successful season this year. It comes down to filing the holes after this season and continue to win at a high level. Otherwise this could end up being a one and done year.

That question can be answered each week.

This the answer is, Beat Cal!

Strong, and disciplined teams don't worry about next week and they damned sure don't worry about the past

We should win at least 10 games this year or more-

Every year your going to have some games that can go either way-

You need to develop the consistency year in year out with the right mindset, preparation etc.

A lot goes into -Mario looks to have turned the corner but, will see how it plays out-

It’s hard as **** to win every game in todays landscape-

I didn’t know much about VT except I didn’t think they were the VT of old as I was wrong from their QB on down they played a helluva game.

We have a lot of holes so we likely won’t “turn the corner” until we truly fill the talent gaps and create depth no matter what our record ends up this year. 1 year of heisman cam doesn’t guarantee future success

I dunno about turning this corner or that corner but I do know Miami is heading in the right direction. I've always maintained that if a team isn't top to bottom elite you gotta have an elite QB to give yourself a punchers chance against teams that actually are top to bottom elite. @grover you can't compare this team to the 2013 team because this Miami team has an elite QB. SteMo wasn't even that good of a QB. That difference is huge. Cam gives us a punchers chance all year long.

Yeah I know. But I’m really not sure this team is much better than that team outside of Ward and more depth. Certainly our defensive talent is subpar. How TF is it we can’t run the ball in the first half and we can’t set an edge with our OL and DEs? 21 missed tackles with Kiko and Meesh accounting for a good chunk of them?

But that really wasn’t my point. My point was the talk about turning corners and how we learned our lesson from this gritty win is premature. You turn corners when you win, then win again, then again, and again. Maybe Va Tech is the learning experience this team needs like BC was in that championship run. Maybe not. We’ll see after Cal, then Louisville, then FSU … all the way until and through Clemson at the ACCCG. At that point let’s talk about turning corners . Because one come from behind win is necessary but not enough.

i remember that season very well because i was a student at the time. we won a really flukey matchup over a massively overrated UF team (similar to cal's win over auburn, actually; we got outplayed and outgained but a got bunch of turnovers), then got all the way up to 7 in the nation after winning some absolute nail-biters against pretty bad UNC and wake teams before getting absolutely smacked by FSU. i think everyone in the country, including me and my friends at the time, knew we probably weren't the 7th best team in the country. however, the real nail in the coffin was that duke johnson had a serious injury against FSU and was gone for the year. he was having a special season and things unraveled after that.

obviously we'll see if things go differently this year. if we start to make these ACC nailbiters a habit, that will certainly be troubling. but this team has a stronger roster than that one for sure.
