Canes were 7-0 in 2013, finished 9-4

Why is the OP trying to say that a team corched by Al PHVCKING Golden is the equivalent to this year? I'd be less offended if you called my mother a poota sucia and tried to bang my sister at the same time.
Right?

Did Mike say we were title bound?

Did Mike say we had 50 11 1st rounders?

All he said was IT FELT LIKE THE OLD MIAMI.

Jesus

It was a spectacular atmosphere for a 4 hour game on a Friday THAT WE WON.

Please stop comparing those types of teams to our current one. It’s not even close. This team is light years better than 2013 and 2017.

****, we have ONE close game (that we still won) and all of the sudden we’re no better than we were under Al Golden? Come on now. Be better than that.

If you want to say we’re not quite at championship level yet, I can get it. We’re probably just below the absolute best teams but still good enough to make a run in the playoffs, especially if Cam keeps playing at a Heisman level.

**** good read, if you haven't already

This. We were severely outplayed by the gator, at home, and were lucky to escape with a win in 2017. That gator team was 4-8 that year, by the way.

We gave up 500 yards to UNC on the road and were lucky to win against a 6-6 team.

The following week, we were in a **** dog fight against Wake Forest at home, a 4-8 football team. We were losing with a minute left to go in the game.

Much like the 2017 team, it was clear as day the 2013 team was a total house of cards. When we played the noles, the eventual national champions, it was a complete mismatch. Which, there's no shame in losing to a team that wins the national championship on their field, but they beat the everloving **** out of us.

This ain't 2013 and it ain't 2017. This team is good enough on both lines to compete against **** near anyone in the country, and Cam Ward is legit awesome.

I've said on this board for 10 years, you can't look at every single game under a microscope. Seasons are seasons for a reason. They're longer than one football game. You're rarely as good or as bad as you think when looking at a singular game. So, if you think this team isn't very good, and benefitted from playing 4 garbage teams to start the year, OK. If that's the case, then we'll play very close games and/or lose the next 2, both on the road, vs Cal and Louisville.

If you think this is a legit Top 10 team who just had an off-night (and still won), then we'll play well and go on the road and beat two decent football teams.

Lot of questions get answered the next 2 games. Was the VT game who we are, or was it an off-night?

Last thing....the coordinators on that 2013 team were Mark Onofrio and James Coley. I'm not saying Dawson and Guidry are the best coordinators in the country, but just stop it with this nonsense.

Yeah, that team was on life support for all of that 7-0. Gave FSU a half of fight. Then went in the tank.

Thank you

Some of these trolls are energy vampires who complain mid-BJ that the sun isn't out at 2am.

See OP
Discussing game by game is one thing.... borrowing tomorrow's trouble by comparing it to 10 years ago is just asking for it...

Beat Cal!

Morris achilles was ****ed after that Savannah State game, Dorsett ****ed his knee up during UNC, and The Duke broke his ankle during the FSU game. Then add in Dorito being a bum *** DC. That 2013 team should have went 11-1.

Fast forward to 2024, Miami finally has a HC and coordinators worth a ****.
No it would not have it was void of high upper talent to be 11-1. The line of scrimmage wasn’t really good and skill spots were ok. Look at the nfl production and where guys got drafted as a barometer of what scouts thought of our roster. They played well though and had some pieces but not nearly close to enough

We would lose 3+ games with a SEC schedule this season. Not due to talent but depth. Of course I’ll get killed for saying that but it doesn’t make it less true.

Turned a corner is TBD. We’ll know that next season.

I don't agree with the Playmaker. We haven't turned a corner. We won't have turned the corner until the season is over, and we look up to see us standing undefeated headed into the playoffs.

2013 Miami Hurricanes faced a similar schedule and had lots of talent on that team, too. Guys like Perryman, Duke, Dorsett, Allen Hurns, Clive Walford, Stephen Morris, Tracy Howard, older Linder, Flowers, Chickillo, etc.

In Game 6, we played UNC and had many of the same failures we saw vs. Va Tech on Friday. Had to come from behind after Morris had 4 interceptions. Everyone was convinced we had turned the corner. In game 8, we lost to a Crab Legs-led #3 FSU, and we could write that off given his heroics in that game. But then we lost to VT and Duke in quick succession.

We don't face anyone like Winston this season. So how does 2024 sustain winning and especially avoid beating itself against lesser opponents? We've been total *** the last 20 years in conference play. And I can't take another 9-3 season with a secondary bowl loss.

Duke Johnson broke his ankle against FSU and was lost for the season. He was the top playermaker, as well as the heart and soul of the team. Should UM have continued on without missing a beat? Sure, but I think losing Duke emotionally gutted the team.

You know that business adage about past performance doesn't guarantee future results? That applies to football teams too. Let's play the games

That D line wasn’t any good. OL had some guys. Hurns, Dorsett before he got hurt, Waters, and Coley were a pretty good WR group. Walford was solid, and then The Duke was our best offensive player.
