Canes to B1G?

They would also love never to schedule us again…but they do.

UF doesn’t drive the bus.
The only reason they do is to avoid public shaming. When Spurrier became head coach, even he said UF should play Miami every year. It’s not ESPN that’s making them schedule it.

Miami has the minimum number of both men's and women's athletic teams to compete in the ACC. We have no men's soccer, golf, lacrosse, no softball for the women, to name a few. We're fortunate the ACC hasn't required us to add some. Football is king I realize but Miami doesn't have the financial resources to have a comprehensive athletic department.

Money talks, bull**** walks.

Personal grudges, friendships, public shaming, relationships, winning on the field, recruiting, all that ****.... IRRELEVANT.

The ONLY things that matter are cash, money, and funds.

The person writing the check is making the rules. Right now, that's ESPN. They look at Florida and they don't give a **** what Florida wants. They are property, nothing more. An asset on the books. It ain't about feelings... it's about numbers on a ledger.

I’m the BiG 10 we would. We’d have more then enough finances with the way that conference is rolling in the dough!

Exactly how would ESPN have shown love? More UM games on their channels? Maybe if we had a better product ...?

Well, they creamed their pants once Miami was under investigation with Nevin Shapiro and couldn't stop screaming "Death Penalty". I literally just made an argument that ESPN doesn't care if Miami's in purgatory and you respond with maybe if we were a better program. So provide a reason why ESPN wants Miami in the SEC.

If FSU and Clemson bolt for the SEC, then the Big 10 makes the most sense. The ACC will be on life support, and the Big 12 and Pac 12 both suck. As much as we fans may want to be independent, then would be financial suicide.

Notre Dame is going to have to re-think their approach too if FSU and Clemson bolt. No one in the mega SEC are going to schedule OOC games, sans cupcakes. If ND wants to sniff national contention, they'll have to commit to a conference.

Bama doesn’t give a **** either way. UGA might, but not enough to bite the hand that feeds (ESPN). UF might try to block, but ESPN would roll over them just like they did A&M.

College football has changed, man. These conferences have made huge money deals with the network and money talks now in a way it never used to.

The thing about selling your soul to the devil (or to Micky Mouse), as the SEC has done, is you give up a lot of control.

UF might want to block, but ESPN doesn’t give a **** about their whiney reasons for wanting to keep us out. UF vs UM vs FSU week after week is good TV, it’s $$$, and that’s all that’s going to matter
I agree with the bold. I just see some members wanting to grip onto their advantage as it relates to which conference they're in membership of.

Great News! miami in the big 10 means i can personally see the canes at Northwestern (i live in Chicago) every couple of years in 10 degree weather!!

don’t our kids love playing in snow?

We would also try and move BC and Cuse with us and ultimately Notre Dame as well.
Pitt? They are already well within the B1G geographic footprint. Moreso than any other ACC full member school. Plus, they've been AAU-accredited mamber since 1974 (a big deal with the B1G presidents); while UM is still not).

You assume ESPN is calling the shots. They need the SEC more than the SEC needs them. In broadcasting the money goes to those with the content rights. If the SEC walks on ESPN, they’re reduced to filling the time slots with Australian football, Northwest Texas State vs Sam Houston Institute of Technology and gripping ACC match ups.

And don’t think it can’t happen. No one thought seriously that the NFC would leave CBS sport after 50 year relationship.

An Administration that couldn't bear to spend 6 hours finding a FB head coach.
Is now going to move Heaven & Earth to get Miami into the SEC, or more laughable the Big 10.
The Heat must be getting to the aforementioned Posters..

If Kansas and Missouri can get AAU accredited, Miami can get AAU accredited. I think Pitt, UVA, GT, Duke, and Miami would all be desirable for the B1G. Pitt, UVA, GT, and Duke are already AAU accredited. I don't think the UGA will let GT into the SEC so they will be looking for a home if the ACC falls apart.

Fun fact: GT won a national championship in football more recently that UGA.

Yea Missouri is definitely reaping the benefits of SEC they have become a true juggernaut.
They made the $EC Championship 1 time!! 😂😂😂 Based on our sparkling number of ACC Championship appearances, I would hope that we could have equaled that, but have my doubts.

Think Nebraska is the only non-AAU accredited school in the B1G. And they made a "special exception" for them. Not sure if they'd go that route with UM. As for UM, I think re the AAU deal, "if we coulda, we woulda by now." Not sure exactly where we fall short in terms of becoming eligible to be an AAU member.

Ill say it again, the BIG logically would jump at Miami. It opens up new territory and Miami doesn't infringe on any school they already have. They get the same and at times more money than the SEC yet the SEC outperforms them on the field. For them to close that they need to recruit the south better conference wide, especially Florida. Miami is their way in. BTW just seen on twitter, Miami is 41st in revenue....yet we are #15 in social media impressions. Small private school, havent been performing for decades now and yet people still care about Miami, foes and friends. Its a gold mine that with the right administration we could be forking in money. The school is under served in the ACC.
