at some point you're going to have to deal in facts, rather than your opinion.... the reality is that history suggests al golden can put football team together and a good defense togethe. History also suggests that it's going to take more than 2 now 3 recruiting classes to get to where we want to be..So golden is a poor recruiter and coach. Not good.
You realize that the talent that sucked on defense was brought in mostly by Randy Shannon, right? You either lack perspective or aren't bright. This years seniors are the class that Al cobbled together after randy hadn't done **** in recruiting his last class.. the juniors and below, those are ALL golden though.
You realize that this talent brought in by Shannon could not be supplanted by anyone Golden brought in right? So again, either golden can recruit or he can't.
I see people harping on Shannon about being a bad recruiter yet Golden, who is supposedly some great recruiter, can't recruit guys good enough to replace these so called Shannon scrubs.
Fsu had frosh starting on its national title team. you mean to tell me Golden can't find young guys good enough to replace players who were a large part of the worse defense in school history?
Rather you realize it or not you are saying golden is a below avg recruiter.
Was FSU's defense largely freshman and sophomores? I'm guessing not... having one or two "frosh" starting on the D doesn't really detract from the upperclassmen they have elsewhere, that they've been developing for years. Freshman and sophomore Dlineman for example, don't normally come in ready to dethrone much bigger/stronger guys.. even if they have more talent then they do. All evidence points to golden being, at the very least, an above average recruiter... the fact that we weren't playing all of those young guys ahead of more mature guys, doesn't really take anything away from them.. feel free to show me a breakdown of FSU's starting defensive lineup.. i'd love to see how many of those guys were freshman and sophomores.. in fact, do that for the top 5 defenses... you'll probably notice it doesn't work how you have magically thought it up... "if he's a good recruiter, he should be able to replace the guys that aren't good in 2 seasons" that's not how the real world works.
Break a top 5 defense for what? Don't need too. They obviously didn't have their programs worst defense in school history like Miami did. Again, with these players being so bad and Shannon being scum a horrible recruiter why can't Goldens guys come in a take their positions? Let me give you some examples....if Sean Taylor isn't behind Ed Reed he starts in 2001. Same for Rolle. Same for wilfork.
The problem is Golden a recruiting has been equally as poor as his coaching. Darius Smith? What impact did he have? Cory king? What about the kid Golden bragged in the newspapers about benching 225 40 times? What impact has he had? Grimble? The kid Miami stole from temple? What's he done? Earl Moore? What's he done? Junior Alexis ? Dequan Ivery?
The same issue you had with Shannon is now being done by Golden himself.
Alot of the better Shannon guys left early which is normal in cfb these days. At that point it's up to Golden to replace these players and he's obviously failed.
I mean, it's also obvious you feel that Shannon should have left Golden a complete team. Lmao. Well he did on offense and Golden screwed that up too. Lastly, there is zero evidence that suggest Golden would be any better with a talent advantage. The reality is his history suggest it doesn't matter. He still loses games he shouldn't be losing.
