Canes commits/targets in action: 2023 season thread

Those were Judd's numbers this week. Idk if he was pulled or rotated or what. But dude definitely split time at QB.

The rest was sarcasm aimed at someone I KNOW wasn't a fan. Tbh, I don't think Judd fans exist anywhere.

Even if Judd isn’t the answer, we have three kids on campus that are D1 starter quality. If TVD leaves, we may need to sign a second HS kid or a portal kid. The GA ‘25 kid looks legit.

The long TD to smith could have been passed to the back side WRs for open TDs. In college that is a broken open play with the safety crushing Smith but most college QBs see the safety and go to the backside for easy TDs.
The whole point of play is to isolate backside, they send back in motion as eye candy and qb looks to hold the safety, the safety was no where near the play, he made the right read, Dawson/holgorsen offense actually runs that play alot also, with back in motion and all..

It was 100% a blown coverage with no safety help with both DBs diving on the fake screen to the RB. The QB has his choice of 3 WRs for a TD. Great play design as they likely ran that RB screen a few times to cause those DBs to give up assignments so fast. Maybe the coach told the QB to look at RB and throw backside. IMO, his read should have been RB, WRs on the same side IF DBs dive on screen then smith. It was four verticals with one deep safety. The safety was shaded to Smiths side which means the two WRs were the better target even with the eye candy of the RB screen.

Those Air Noland highlights look good. But I actually watched a fair amount of that game on TV and he is far less polished than I thought. I continue to believe we're doing the right thing with QB and not overinvesting there. Of course, we need to actually land those other national elite targets (e.g., DTs) the coaches were bragging about to make the bet pay off.

Wouldn't mind seeing that a few times from Dawson with our speed package on the field.

Kid needs to work on moving his feet on those pass plays. He was waiting for the DE and not moving enough allowing the kids to get better position. He over came due to his size but in college he would be run past.

No way is he an OT for the Canes. Poor footwork and gets lazy like most HS OL. Love his athleticism though. Has the right raw materials.

As has been shared in the Judd Anderson thread, he followed up his very shaky outing in a scrimmage against Buford by going 5-for-10 for 71 yards with 1 INT and a QB rating of 33% in a 33-21 season-opening loss to Northside. Anderson is splitting reps with a dual-threat backup, Devin Edmonds, who appeared to outplay him in the scrimmage and also went 5-for-10 in the season opener.

And here's a reminder, as has been shared on the board, that the staff considers Judd to be in the same horizontal tier as 5* OSU commit Air Noland...

Judd's interception can be seen at the 2:44 mark in this video. The TD throws by his backup, Edmonds, and 4* OU WR commit teammate Zion Ragins can be seen at the 1:49 and 2:15 marks, respectively.

Nolan’s isn’t all that IMHO. But Judd was just a bad eval by Dawson. Kids with a high interception to TD ratio carry that baggage into college. I can’t think of an exception.

The Judd stuff is bringing back Sitkowski/Allison memories. Hope there is some improvement over the course of the year.

On the bright side, Kavion Broussard looks to have made significant gains. I'd say he's the most likely to get a bump up to 4* when this film gets around.

Like many of us said, we're not worried about OL with Mario and Mirabal. QB, DT and DB on the other hand...

If you need MORE proof that the ranking system is just a joke watch Noland apparent highlights for a second or two... That kid has worse mechanics than Malik rosier had. If there's anyone who should have the athlete tag applied to them it's him. He's clearly a great athlete but an equally **** QB.
