Canes Camp Report Episode 3

I've been slurping Williams since he arrived on campus.

Tagging this thread for servings of crow later this year.

Only an idiot can't see that RW is light years ahead of what we have been offered at the QB position for at least 5 years. ratards

Dude, I want to believe you. I just need some evidence before I can slurp that up. Are you that confident based on his high school play, his Memphis play, his greentree play, or his garbage time play?

All of the above. Go watch his film. He's not perfect but hes much better than anyone we have had in a while.

It's a cerebral position.

My Ryan Williams grades:1=Bad 10= Elite
Cerebral: TBD
Arm: 5
Eyes:6
Feet: 6 (was 2)
Mechanics:7

Everyone throws pic's even the great Snickers Morris.

Williams is the best QB Miami has had in years.

Isn't it great how when you see highlight films they don't show any of the 4-12 yd plays. I bet Williams had oodles of those today in practice.

On what do you base the conclusion that Williams is "the best" in years? There is simply not enough evidence to make that assertion with any credibility. The fact is, he was the clear #2 (in the coaches' eyes) to Morris.

We all hope he will be an improvement, but that does not mean he will be.

Don't do it to yourself... Too be honest, since 2011 we have witness the most productive years regarding our qbs since Dorsey... We'll see what Williams can do but all I see is exaggeration on basic throws from our fanbase... I'm not high on the kid but I'll love to be proven wrong...

The stats don't lie. Yds...TD's....hah...how bout some wins? Everything else is fluff.

RW will have a higher winning % than any Canes opening day starting QB in the last 5 years.

Book it. I'll ban myself from our last game this season until signing day 2015 if I'm wrong. You do the same if I'm right.

I'm not going to agree to that foolishness haha... You don't have to do that either... It's unnecessary... If you're right, that's great... If you're wrong oh well... The same with me... I'm just saying from the clips we're exaggerating some of his passes... We'll get an idea of his potential at the spring game and it'll continue until the 2014 season...

Nice to read a rational post every now and again just for the change of pace. Now I'm off to hunt for some bizarre gif to post ...

I am on the fence with RW. I tend to think he is more of a student of the game. I tend to think the coaches go with who the team will support the most for the sake of team chemistry, hence, why they went with JH his sr yr and why they stayed with SM this past season. I have liked what I have seen from RW in mop up duty and in the practice videos. However, there were like 4/5 plays in those vids and I just have to believe we are running 40-50 plays a day. So there has got to be something we are missing. Some good plays, some dump offs, some knock downs on D.

For now, I am tempering my expectations. I have faith in RW and I think he could be the perfect fit if he gets the ball out quickly and allows out playmakers to be playmakers. I want to see duke on a screen, catching the ball with time to run, I want to see wr screens to Coley, I want some occasional deep balls to EVERYONE! PD, Coley, Scott, Jones, Dobard/BO on seam routes. I want to see the TE used across the middle. I think he can do these types of things and hopefully do them well. But time will tell......

However, if he does then we will all be totally freaking out about the defense! LOL

Really, dude? You have no clue what are talking about.

Interesting seeing Ryan Williams on the move to his off shoulder.

That pick he threw didn't look good.

Yeah, that was the ONE throw Morris might have made. I can live with not throwing those long bombs. If we start hitting TE across the middle, safeties will have to pay attention and nobody will be around to catch Coley after he smokes cb. We will have plenty of long TDs, just more on if as RAC and less in the air. Once the TE start getting attention, Duke and Joe will have field day in passing game.

It looks like Figatron has taken it upon himself to become a leader on this team. I like it.

can not wait to see this dude play free and aggressive. Hope him and Perryman don't leave the field

He's been legit. Just needed to lose some of that baby fat.

Him and Jelani were on that Ice cream sandwich plan

I wouldn't say that lol

Standish's a big kid but he's got some wheels on him. Couple of the players posted a vid of him and I think Coley racing. Stan was step for step with him

Coley was filming. Stan was racing a walk on I think. Coley would smoke him

He wasn't step for step with Coley haha... I don't care if it was baby fat or 16% obese fat, if he was step for step with Coley he would have played.. The kid maybe talented but assertions like this is what make our fans vulnerable for disappointment which later results into suicide watch... Come football season...

Are we talking about Coach Coley? If we have TE who can stay with Stacy and he is not getting the ball every other play, just shut the program down.

Haha that's what I'm saying... If he's that fast we'll find a way to get him the ball... Richard Gordon had brick for hands and we found a way to get him on the field... You find a way to utilize the athleticism of the player...

Yeah. 2 separate OCs had him on the bench for the fun of it.

The only reason he was "on the bench" in Memphis was because the coach changed the entire offensive system to a spread instead of the previous pro-style system, and he then picked his running QB to be the starter. That's when Williams decided to transfer.

I believe he's referencing Fischer and Coley... However, your point only magnifies our curiosity as to why this poster thinks he's the best qb we had in years...

RW started the whole season at Memphis his freshman year. Spent most of it running for his life behind one of the worst O'lines in college football.

Hey I'm not here to convince anyone. I know what he's gonna bring to the table and I know what the last 4 opening day starting QB's have brought to the table.

Kirby Freeman, Robert Marve, Jacory Harris (best of the four), Snickers Morris. He's better than all four of those JAG's. And will have a better winning percentage than any of them.

I already tried to wager a self ban from the end of the last game till signing day next year that RW will have a higher winning % at Miami than any of those 4 guys....Any of you blowhards want to take me up on that?

I really believe that if Figueroa leaves here without being a ******* superstar, Golden and Dorito should never be allowed to coach at any level, ever again

It's not that serious... We'll all be glad if he proves us wrong... As of right now his evidence of work doesn't lean in your favor... Especially the win percentage... He won like 1 game at Memphis... That being said, I'm excited for the new year... Don't take it to heart man... We got it... You're expecting big things from RW... If he accomplishes all of your feats you have set aside for him then you can tell us you were right... If not oh well...
