Canes Camp 11

In this vid, the two picks by Morris weren't actually that bad, IMO. The first was a great read by Dortch to peel off his man and break on the ball - Morris threw the out a little late. The second was tipped at the line right into the belly of the LB. Certainly any pick is a bad pick, but it's not like he stared down the WR or overthrew him by 10 yards...

Those picks are just a result of th same defensive style that people around here have been *****ing and moaning about

- I didnt know Jontavious Carter was that fast.... impressive.

- Nate Dortch looks real good at cornerback, its going to be fun to watch him continue to develop.

- Tracy Howard looks like the best cornerback on the team now.

- The safety position.... smh. I cant wait for Deon to get full healthy and we need Jamal Carter to get comfortable with the playbook ASAP.

The defense sees so many of the same plays in practice over and over again...sometimes there are gonna be picks that make the QB look really bad when it was just the DB anticipating a throw he's seen before.

All the hate that Rodgers is getting because of history and clips from highlights(Jenkins got roasted by Dallas Crawford in 1-on-1s in the play right before Duke got KC, btw) is in direct conflict with what the coaches are seeing through 11 days of fall camp. You can be a starter and not have a black jersey(Perryman, Crawford, Jenkins, Armbrister/Figs currently). All the **** being talked about him here and he keeps it.

I thin KC Rodgers has been doing a way better job then Rayshawn Jenkins out there and that's why Ray is now in the green jersey and KC is still in black.

Ray Jenkins obviously has more potential but he had the opportunity to hold down the safety position in the absence of Deon Bush and he hasnt done that at all to this point.

Looking good out there... However DP looks like he has gained too much weight to me.... But its just a few plays in a highlight section..

I disagree.... imo the only way he would look like he has gained too much weight is if he is looking 2 slow and stiff.... neither are the case though.

The only problem with Denzel Perryman has nothing to do with the physical its just his nose for the ball imo.... there still seems to be times where he gets "lost" on the field and doesnt get to the ball carrier.

That is what i think the coaches are trying to teach him to consistently be able to do. I do think instincts can be taught but most of it is just natural god given talent..... DP has good instincts but not great.

Yeah....anybody defending Rodgers doesn't have a clue.

If Rodgers starts because Jenkins is still struggling then it says more about Jenkins than it does about Rodgers. Bottom line...we spent all offseason worried about the D Line....but it looks like the safety position is our biggest question mark on defense heading into the season.

We need Bush healthy and Jenkins to step up. Otherwise we could be sporting the 2 worst safeties in the ACC in Highsmith and Rodgers.

Bush is going to start definitely in time for the UF game.... he is healthy for the most part, and is finally on the field practicing with the team, he's just not ready for full contact yet.

Honestly KC Rodgers might just be better then Rayshawn Jenkins at this point, as long as Deon Bush is on the field as a starter i dont really see a big difference between KC and Jenkins playing next to him from what i've seen so far this fall camp.

I would like to see Jamal Carter get some burn against FAU, to see if he can stand out, b/c i think he may, eventually, be the best compliment to Deon Bush.

Then you're talking directly to the coaches. Not only is he slated to start, but he keeps the black jersey, while guys that people here give message board blow jobs to like Figs, Perryman, Crawford and Jenkins have all lost it. He along with Howard are the only ones not to have a black jersey to start camp, get one and keep it through yesterday.

Ladarius Gunter has kept his black jersey as well.... ppl like to harp on him when he gets beat but i've seen all of our DBs get beat by our receivers. He is obviously doing something good to keep his black jersey as well.

5:15 - Gilbert beating Gadbois around the edge

5:34 - Seantrel vs AQM

5:44 - Renfrow helping to clog the middle

5:57 - Real excited about Jontavious' development. Shows his Spring Game performance was not a fluke.

6:10 - Moar Duke wheel routes this year!!

Is Jawand Blue a real player? I'm not one to expect every FR and SO to blow it up but wondering if he is in the rotation, on the special teams units, etc.

Usually we at least here something small about a player, good or bad. I cannot remember anything ever said about the kid.

Great question, you never hear anything about this kid. I'm not sure if he played any ST last year or not. I'm assuming he will at least have a role on ST this year.
