There can be no excuses in 2014. Coastal Division title or the season will have been a failure.

10 senior starters on this team:

Perryman
Dorsett
Chickillo
Feliciano
Walford
Gunter
Pierre
Armbrister
McDermott
Heaps

The last three seasons are in the past. It's put up or shut up time.

I think we all can agree on that.

I'd take Duke, Coley, Perryman and Flowers before taking the next-best player in the Coastal. We have more front-line talent than we've had in a while. Depth still isn't where it needs to be but it's good enough. This team should be expected to win the division.

It's too early to be making such concrete declarations. Some of you guys have no middle ground in your lives. With our conference schedule compared to Duke's and UNC's I don't think it would be an automatic failure to finish a game behind them.

If we completely tank and win 4 games, then the season's a failure. Otherwise, there is plenty of middle ground there. If the team keeps progressing and we start controlling more of the variables during games and the kids have fun and stay out of trouble and get their degrees, then I just can't be so callous as to call that a "failure".

there's been "no excuses" for years. the only ppl making excuses are the cowards who make excuses for subpar performance cause it helps them sleep better at night

It's not easy to make my "ignore" list in under 50 posts...congrats!

As for the question at hand, I tend to agree with Franchise, which would be more satisfying, beating L'ville, Neb., FSU and VT or winning the coastal?

We have to win the Louisville Game..these kids have worked their asses off and if they lose by 3 or 30 it could be a long year mentally...

we win that game...The coastal is ours

The QB situation is an excuse in itself. Not saying I'd accept it as an excuse but we're going to see if Cołey is half the coach as he is a recruiter.

At their positions, or overall?

In every season there are always variables. We could win a lot of games and not win the coastal, if we lose to the wrong team, and end up with the same conference record. There is always the injury thing, Duke proved that last yr when he went down and so did the team. Thats not a coincidence.

I feel like it is fair to expect to see some major improvement. We have heard for years how important senior leadership is and we have it this year. We have plenty of upperclassmen to lead this team, we have some ELITE playmakers, and we have some speed on this team as well. There are enough pieces in place to expect this team to improve on last years 9-4 record. Regardless of schedule. However, we could win ten and still not win the coastal, and that would not necessarily mean the season has been a failure.

The most disappointing thing for me has been the Louisville game. We finally get to a bowl game and come out and just plain **** the bed. I felt like AG lost the team, because if they wanted it you would have seen a much better performance than that. I honestly, would not care if we won eleven games this year if we came out and just plain sucked in a bowl game like that again I would want to see some heads roll. I feel like the pressure on the defensive staff is fair ( I don't agree with ppl moping about it in every single thread) but it is fair. We have the talent to have a good defense every year. We should not be that bad. Your scheme should require ten AA's for it to succeed.

I am getting really excited for the season. I come to this **** site daily, and its not because I want to crap on my canes. I support everyone on this team and wish them all the best. If they leave or get fired then see ya later and I will support the next round of players/coaches.

LETS GO CANES!!!!!

Show me another coach who has had to deal with as much adversity as Al has dealt with at UM who managed to win 9 games in his third season under the NCAA cloud. You can't because they don't exist. Al is doing yeoman work with this program. A lot of you fellas will be eating crow when Al resurrects this program.

College football experts have gone on record and said that we could have better team then last year however worse record.
