For a number of reasons, I'm surprised by a lot of what I've heard about Berrios during Fall camp.

#1 Coming off a knee injury, I didn't expect him to be full go.
#2 As a True Frosh with size questions, it'd be understandable for him to need some time.
#3 At one of the deepest positions on the team (3 likely NFL players and experienced guys in front), he'd have an uphill climb either way.

I can't say I've seen it live, as I don't have those privileges and therefore can't really talk about *how* he is doing what he's doing. However, 3 separate guys who get to watch a considerable amount of practice consistently mention Barrios made "this catch and move" or "found a spot in the zone" or "he catches everything" or "he's going to have to play." Some of these guys don't know each other, so don't bias their views by talking to one another. After yesterday's scrimmage, it was all but cemented that this guy, assuming health, may actually see the field this year. That'd be an incredible feat.

There isn't a lot of meaningful film to look through, as he played QB in HS a good amount, but this short clip was fun to watch:

Just a couple routes here, but my immediate takeaway was zero wasted steps at the line and tremendous burst. Looks like someone has polished up his steps. He also pretty clearly has insane quicks (think he had the best shuttle at The Opening).

I still can't imagine him getting extensive snaps. I imagine Malcolm Lewis will own the slot position when we're not throwing out the Coley/Waters/Dorsett trio. In case of injury or perhaps in mop-up, I'm really looking forward to seeing if the hype transfers to game action.

Great weapon on 3rd and long, if the OL can actually protect the pocket.

The slot receiver position has been a major weakness since, maybe Sinorice?

I have the feeling that he'll come up big in some tough situations - key 3rd down catches that are clutch.

Depth and being freshman will probably keep his playting from being consistent - but he strikes me as the type that comes up big in his limited opportunities.

I wouldnt call him a surprise at least not for me that is. Ive had high expectations for him since i watched his film.

One of my favorite recruits in the Golden era. Think about this, Berrios went to The Opening last year, and finished 7th in the Sparq rating. That is an incredible feat, and shows his explosive quick twitch, and speed. Him scoring a TD in the U.A. all star game on a torn ACL showed the toughness. I think the kid will go down as the all time best slot WR ever at the University of Miami IF he stays healthy. I think he is that good.

I remember watching the Dolphins - Jets back in the day and getting so frustrated over the number of catches Wayne Chrebet would rack up against us. I think Berrios can have that type of impact. One of those guys who is just insanely hard to cover.

Will be a star by the end of his career, I think he will even have the opportunity to leave early to play pro ball

He was a highly recruited Wr ( 4 star) that has hands, speed and superb route running.
Other than coley who has playing time...BB will be a star here..

Closer to impossible to cover. A guy with his quickness and feet, he'll have defenders tripping over themselves. In this day and age where teams like to have big corners, a short guy with insane quickness can and WILL get open, a lot. His skill set is unlike anyone we've had here in a long time.

I said it after the class was signed and I watched a ton of tape. The 2014 class is one of our best ever. Play makers everywhere. To think the 2015 and 16 classes are looking solid already... Man, it's a good time to be a Cane. Things are changing.

Agree with previous poster regarding skill set. I said Sinorice, but that's not right.

I guess Roscoe was the last threat like that.

The only issue with his size is his height. He is physically put together. Strong and explosive. Definitely further along physically than most freshman receivers.

Did you expect him to do this well this quickly? It's not a surprise he's a good player, I think. Moreso, it's a surprise he's doing so well that he may force himself on to the field at a stacked position.

The white Thearon Collier, clutch factor

Guy was incredible as a true freshman. Just made plays. He wasn't fast, but had great feet. Berrios is quicker and faster. Might not have the same wingspan.

JHall, when I say size issues, I also mean wingspan and arm length. Usually, it takes a period of transition to get accustomed to every defender being lengthy and strong.

He will be a 3rd down specialist and take pressure off the running game. Cat quick great hands and desire. He will get PT for sure this year.

Most important part you mentioned was no wasted movement. Berrios and Yearby could be used in textbooks on how to teach players to get the most out of every motion. I compared Berrios to Collier tons of times, though he is physically more explosive, in terms of production. That year Collier came in he was behind a few highly rated receivers but he was the one that made the immediate impact because his game was more polished coming in. You can abuse college DBs if you can run routes and have great hands. Berrios is that guy. Only thing I questioned was the injury, but ****, he balled out in the UA game WITH the injury so.....

Berrios just flat out knows how to ball. He's definitely gonna get some burn even if we do have Coley, Dorsett, Waters and Lewis.

Berrios going to get a lot of burn. And I expect Brady to get burn too.

Berrios has great hands, great moves, great quickness, good speed, and overall is a demon in the slot. And he's strong and physical as ****. You would be surprised, he's not so tall but he has the fight in him.

Even though I expect Coley, Waters, Dorsett and Lewis to get the chunk early on. I see Berrios making a splash and coming into that rotation with them in the first few games. Solid 5 man rotation and I expect Brady to work in there as the season progresses.

Both Lewis and Berrios are very nice slots and they bring different things to the table.
