Camp Notes Day #NotSureAnymore

I guess Renfrow is the early leader in the clubhouse for the "Voice Least Matching His Appearance" award.

I have a fever and might be delirious but did Gilbert just say we're running a 3-4? I knew we were mixing looks in, but it sounds like we might be going to the 3-4 the majority of the time.

That makes sense. our 2 best pass rushers are 3-4 OLB types (McCord and AQM). Porter is perfect for NT at 325 and Chick is actually starting to get a little big for a 4-3 DE at 277. Pierre is like 305 which means he is a big **** 3-4 DE....and you have beefed up ILB in Perryman and Gaines. Figatron is in that same weight range as McCOrd and AQM so he is in that rotation at OLB.

The personnel fit is much better for 3-4 than 4-3 and we suspected all along that this is the staffs preference anyway.

I am excited to see the 3-4 we can get more speed on the filed resulting in more pressure on the QB. I think it's going to be a hybrid where the WDE will stand up and play WILL LB and the existing WLB will slide over to the middle.

Like I have said before with Perryman's experience in the middle he will not miss a beat at all. Green and Cain also have experience playing LB so when they are standing up at LB there shouldn't be much of an adjustment.

Being in south Florida we actually have an advantage in recruiting 3-4 personal. There is never a shortage of fast but undersized DE's who will make perfect 3-4 LB's and there are always quick and strong undersized DT's who will make perfect 3-4 DE's. this plays into our hands in a major way and I am extremely excited to see how it translates on the field.

Very solid post outside having Perryman in the middle. The kid is an OLB, and really fits the mold of a 4-3 OLB more than anything. Yeah he can play in the middle but that isn't his strength at all.

The reality also might be that, when Gilbert is situationally inserted into the scheme, it's often in a 3-4 look. Hence why he called it so. People seems to think coaches talk to players more about the overall scheme than they do the specific player's role in it. Gilbert could have been told "come here. We run a 3-4" or more likely "this is how we see you at Miami: killing plays in the backfield. Hand in the dirt half the time. Upright, wide, tight. Just seek and destroy".

I still think the 3-4 is one of their "multiple" packages.

If they were to go to it full time, you'd have a DL of Pierre, Porter, and Luther.

Yesterday they were told by 5000 Canes Fan's they were great. Today the coaches remind them that greatness is earned, not given. Golden :stormwarning:

Golden making them run, sounds like he's not very happy with the scrimmage.

Could be he was happy but doesn't want the team to become complacent. Also, after a day off it signals back to work time.

Yeah, cause coaches drop f bombs when theyre secretly happy...

Believe it or not, happens all the time.
Most people who've spent a lot of years in locker rooms, barracks or crowded highways use curse words quite liberally.
"Honey, that fuucking dinner was the Shiit! It was fuuckin great!"
"Hey motherfuucker, move that piece of Shiit over to the fuucking slow lane, you dumb asss **********!"

Those phrases sound familiar to anyone?

Pretty obvious Golden wants some big uglies up front. Its no wonder you have trouble finding kids from South Florida willing to play that style. They should be smart enough to realize those guys command big time NFL money. Regardless guys like Gilbert and Renfrow are going to play huge roles and hopefully our line allows some of our ridiculous athletes on the outside cause havoc.
