Camp Notes Day #8

Tracy executes his assignment to PERFECTION.

This is gonna be fun this year.

Get the feeling we're gonna be seeing a lot of picks this year.

Tracy's biggest problem last year was that he didn't listen to the coaches. He did what he wanted to do out there. Caused some breakdowns and led to some strife between him and the coaches. This year it looks like he's put the ego aside and is doing what he's corched to do. He's going to be great for us.

Christ, Beau Sandland looks like a specimen. I hope we utilize him a lot, because I think he's one-and-done.

newcomers #82 Mustafaa, #78 Renfrow and #90 Kamalu at the 5:20 mark working on pass rushing as Chip wraps it up.

Renfrow looked like he was destroying that drill. I think Renfrow and Gilbert will have a huge impact on the team this year. Possibly allowing Moore to shirt and King to get half snaps, but really continued mental reps.

Kamalu looks way bigger than Mustafaa. I think the defense will cut itself in half at the minimum.
There's something to be said for having some grown men out there on the DL. Renfrow isn't a star but he's a grown man who has played a lot of football. He's not going to get abused out there like our freshmans and sophomores did last year.

Another example of a guy who in a perfect world( which didn't exist for this program last year) who probably needed a redshirt. But again, last year the D coordinator was the fall guy for everything so it couldn't possibly be a player who wasn't really equipped to handle playing at this level, quite yet

I remember when it was somehow the coaches' faults that Tracy was freelancing.

Players are starting to teach and police themselves. The culture change is just about complete. We need a big season to bring it all together.

Exactly. There are going to be a lot of idiots looking extra stupid when Corch Duh has some talent AND experience to work with. Gonna be funny watching them turn mute all of a sudden.

Then what we're gonna hear is that Coach D changed his scheme( Not that anyone matured or improved, because that couldn't possibly happen)

IT WAS THE SKEEEEEEEEM!!!!

Now that we have some talent and experience in place we better not see the defense get gashed repeatedly against FAU. Not asking for a shutout, but there's no excuse not to slap them around all night.

Nice that it feels that there is very little dead weight left on the team.

Gonna be some more (unfortunately) after next spring practice. But it's also good. "It's a process."

we are certainly closer this year then we were last year...

you have the feeling that its almost over and we will be back to competing on a high level every year
staying ranked playing in bcs games...excitement is genuine and we almost back
You are only as good as your weakest link. Until the D steps up and shows it in the games and against top rated opponents we are what we are.

WTF? this don't even make sense. You're only as good as your worst cliche.
I wouldn't expect you to understand it.

You're better than this. It was both last year and you know it. You really believe we had the worst talent in CFB last year? Really?

With some of the fans on here predicting a top 20 D, we better have a shutout. I'm with you. I want to see us show pressure from our front 7, and some adjustments from the scheme we ran last year.

All teams don't play the same schedule. If we had played a Sun Belt schedule, we wouldn't have finished 116th.

That ranking isn't a proportional correlation to talent ranking and you know it.

We probably had middle of the road talent, little experience (we were one of the youngest defenses in the country last year), and a difficult schedule.

to me it is simple, support the canes and their coach or not. to expect more from this coaching staff is laughable. I am not a blind follower ,but to expect more is insane. with our depth and roster most professionals had us at 3 to 5 wins last yr.

Like the ACC is some juggernaut...WOW!

I think the argument, if the defense improves like it should, is that it's the kids, not the coaching. It's only when the kids like Rodgers whiffing on that play against FSU last year, that people notice the mistakes. It's hard to see the blown assignments leaving men completely uncovered or holes in the defense for the offense to exploit.
