Camp Notes Day #8

Nice that it feels that there is very little dead weight left on the team.

Gonna be some more (unfortunately) after next spring practice. But it's also good. "It's a process."

we are certainly closer this year then we were last year...

you have the feeling that its almost over and we will be back to competing on a high level every year
staying ranked playing in bcs games...excitement is genuine and we almost back

Staying ranked and playing in the PLAYOFFS to be exact. Gotta be in it to win it. We're going for championships!!!!

I dont know what it, but I just really like this team. They are fully engaged, it seems, and seem to have a certain chemistry with each other

BTW, Shayon Green taking a pass drop 20 yards down field?

+1, and I pray that it translates into more wins

TH3 talked about disguising things more this year and u know seeing Shayon's 265lbs *** dropping 20 yards in coverage will have opposing QB's thinking WTF.

Ryan Williams looks, dare I say.... good. That QB spot is going to be WIDE OPEN next year.

Brierre is the man and he said it right when he said dorsett has been on fire this camp. he is playing like a man possessed and it looks like he really has worked hard on his game over the summer. If he is consistent this year he can break yardage records.

Shayon Green showing a little spring in his step. I like that the dline is competently batting balls. last year you can tell they really tried but most of the time they are just throwing the arms up like crazy people.

Tracy Howard was born to be a cane.

NOW THEM BOYS GON BBQ.

Tracy executes his assignment to PERFECTION.

This is gonna be fun this year.

Get the feeling we're gonna be seeing a lot of picks this year.

That's a nice observation. Hard to say without getting a look at the whole field, but that looked like Cover 3 technique with the pickup distance being >= 8. That dig/curl pattern by the outside guy would be an under responsibility. As a FS, that's really important to trust the Corner not to **** up that read. If he does, the corner route over the top (in the smash combination) is extremely tough to get to. For multiple reasons (not the least of which is lack of S range), this was a fundamental issue for our defenses during the short Bill Young era and since these guys have been here.

If these guys actually figured out how to "pass" receivers to each other, maybe we won't see gaping holes between our zone coverages as often. Hooray.

newcomers #82 Mustafaa, #78 Renfrow and #90 Kamalu at the 5:20 mark working on pass rushing as Chip wraps it up.

Renfrow looked like he was destroying that drill. I think Renfrow and Gilbert will have a huge impact on the team this year. Possibly allowing Moore to shirt and King to get half snaps, but really continued mental reps.

Kamalu looks way bigger than Mustafaa. I think the defense will cut itself in half at the minimum.

Howard is smart as ****. Good stuff.

Said it earlier this week, if you listen to his interviews this year he seems much more positive compared to last year where he seemed frustrated and had to deal with questions from carrying a burden of performing as a 5 star while also being a true freshman. Now he just seems like he wants to just come out and work and get better. Then you see the highlights and he is very comfortable in the schemes, when guys are jumping routes it means they know whats asked of them and their responsibilities and where they can make moves. Good to see him grow but when you really look at it, he is basically right on schedule.

Noticed that, even seen in some clips the linebackers being aware who is coming in there zones and bumping guys

That would be a huge jump in pass coverage and maybe mediocre QBs like Driskell wont have easy reads this season. Windows will be much smaller. I might faint if we grow that much in one offseason. Cant wait

That Renfrow IS A BIG b*TCH....At the least he can push the pocket in passing situations...his height will be a plus in our scheme.

Honestly i would shirt one of the dts..since we got dude for a year..Let them know this now in camp...Its actually for the better of the team for Moore to take a shirt.

Tracy Howard is starting to look like the guy is aw @ Miramar....and thats good...kid is sneaky...and will bait qbs in to picks.

Figs is just a play maker...to think that kid is a fresh..and is int he two deep is amazing. We're replentishing when kids like Figs just isnt automatically starting.

I truly feel Perryman will Bobby Boushay someone this yr..preferably the UF game.

If this dline shows up our defense can make the next step..which is a move up of atleast 30-40 spots in total rating.

Dorsett flat out is a tough cover...he runs precise routes..and is fast as ****. I like that we play Waters in the slot with Malcolm..those two are deceptive guys....

Dorsett is going to be a beast this year, no one can keep up with him

I wonder how Rashawn Scott is looking in Camp b/c i havent seen or heard about him at all really???

Allen Hurns looks a lot more explosive and he just doesnt drop balls.

Malcolm Lewis looks faster after the injury and he doesnt drop balls either.

Sandland looks like the playmaker out of all the TEs so far, at first i doubted he could start but now i think he can..... he has made a lot of progress from the spring.

The defense is legit this year.... i'm not even thinking about last year at all it's a completely different unit and Deon Bush hasnt even practiced yet, i hope he can get the green light by next week so i can start seeing him in some of these highlights. The safety position isnt the same w/o him in the line up.

I know it has been discussed allot but watching my Canes after Drosey left as the QB was one of the most painful things that never ended.

We had talented receivers, TE's, that our QB's couldn't get the ball to or they would just throw it up in the air and hope our guys come down with it.

Morris was a godsend. When this kid misses a throw you can see he tries very hard not to do it again and learn from it.

All offseason people have been saying how terrible the kid is. This guy can play. I think we will be in good shape whether he starts or Olsen starts next year. But, and maybe it was just me, I always thought williams had a lot of potential coming out of high school, he just never seemed very motivated. Maybe it was because Jacory was ahead of him, and Stephen morris won the job going into maryland. Now that he sees that he has a legitimate shot at playing time next year, it seems like he has been stepping up all spring/summer. No offense to Dewey, but I hope he does transfer. It frees up a spot on the roster when we're not really in need of his services.
