Maybe. But that’s non contact.

100k seems high.

Non contact injuries can happen on the field or in practice at any time. I am not sure what the policy covers but it would seem reasonable any injury related to bowl prep is included as well as actual game.

I’m usually the first person to make fun of “culture” but this is what good culture is. Dudes who have nothing to gain personally but care about their teammates and the program enough to put together one last chance for a victory. Gotta respect that.

In the bowl game

This is not only risky.... he is STUPID!

He is a potential top 10 pick and that means lots of $$$. There is a chance, probably small - but a chance he can get hurt in the game (see Mel Bratton). If I'm his parent, I would NEVER support this. Take off the orange and green glasses - the kid gave enough - let him go - safely.

i travelled over here from the lowly iowa state forums just to tell you guys my #1 fear is cam ward and him slicing up our porous run defense.

A couple of points:

He’s already a millionaire. NIL has made sure he’s already worth millions before he ever plays a professional game.

He’s likely got a significant insurance policy that will pay him a ton should he experience catastrophic injury.

Regardless of what happens in the game or the draft, Cam is already set for life financially. It’s not like the old days when player’s didn’t have a penny before signing with an NFL team.

Cam chosing to play in the bowl game shows the NFL he’s a team player and all in. Since players starting opting out of bowl games several NFL executives and scouts have said they prefer players not opt out, although it is understandable in many circumstances.

I’m glad to see Ward and Martinez set an example. Hopefully other Canes take the opportunity to get that 11th win.

I’m glad to see it among at schools too.

There’s no reason not to play unless you’re nursing an injury or you’ve chosen to add your name to the transfer portal.

Not to mention its a really good look. In this NIL era pro teams have to appreciate guys who just want to play football. All he needs is one team in the top 10 to fall in love with him come draft time. Sometimes small data points make all the difference when they have a couple of guys slotted similarly.
