3-star OL Caleb Chandler has a few SEC schools on his mind

For three-star offensive lineman Caleb Chandler from Jefferson (Ga.) High, the recruiting process was a complete mystery.

“I really didn’t know what to expect at first because I didn’t expect this to happen,” Chandler told GN. “I’ve really enjoyed it, but there have been some times where I have thought, ‘I really can’t wait for this to be over with. I’m ready to just go ahead and commit.’

“The more that I thought about it and the more that I talk with friends and family, I realized I’ll probably never get this much attention again in my life. So I better enjoy it as much as I can and thank God for blessing me with this opportunity.”

Chandler (6 feet 6, 295 pounds) lives about 25 miles northwest of Athens and is ranked among the top 40 offensive tackle prospects in the class of 2017. But despite being listed as an offensive tackle, Chandler expects to play on the inside at the next level.

“I’ve been told I have the ability of a tackle but the body of a guard,” Chandler said. “Most schools have told me I’ll be playing guard. So it seems like I will be playing guard in the future.”

Chandler is planning official visits to Florida, Miami and Louisville. He has received offers from those three schools, plus offers from Mississippi State and Missouri, among others.

“I pride myself in working and trying to be the best on the field, point blank,” Chandler said. “I play physical, tough and I love putting people on their heads. I want to win. I come from a winning program here at Jefferson High School. I want to go somewhere where I can be successful on and off the field and be able to win.”

So he wants to go to a winner? Tell him he can be part of a future winner. He can help to turn it around.

don't understand why we haven't made a big push for him.. Cant have enough OL this class. I wouldn't mind getting 8

I'll gladly eat crow here, I said earlier we didn't need guards.. bring him. We need all we can get.

We got to stop playing ourselves re the OL! Guys like this are far better than some starters and all the backups! We are a "decent" line away from being a respectable team.

I agree OL is developmental position but you need players who have innate tendency toward physical violence ( in short big ole boys that like to fit and mix it up). George O'Leary had the best quote to date I have heard about what he looked for when recruiting linemen; he said he recruits big guys that don't like people! Chandler plays like he is trying to make someone quit every time he touches them.

With tbe two kids from American Heritage playing games I say Miami should accept Chandler's commitment and send a signal to other olinemen we are recruiting that the UM train is loading up.

For those that haven't seen 2017 OG Caleb Chandler's senior highlightss here there are ( FYI they look like a sequel to his other Jr year highlights). I can see why he was named a 3 time Georgia All State player.

Miami has to find room for this kid in the 2017 Oline class!

He's taking 3 OVs in Jan and we aren't one. Not sure if we even wanted him but this kid isn't coming to Miami

Coach Searels is missing the boat on this one by slow playing Caleb Chandler.

Ok St and Oregon just offered this young man.

Not only does Miami need OL's that can contribute next year we also need quality depth and Chandler can offer both. Miami has OL's currently on the roster that will be asked to move on this summer so UM will have the room. An with the OL's from Heritage playing recruiting games it is shame to slow play this young man.

FyreHam Gaynor is being brought in as a Center, where Caleb Chandler is OG mauler that can easily get to the 2nd level. So no more watching Miami RB's have to run into a pile at the LOS an just get 1 or 2 yds. Chandler can be a pulling guard.
