C.J Henderson

Agree. Im sure both are torn between wanting to be down for the hometown team or riding the wave of the "hot" team. (this moreso for Jobe)

Henderson is stuck between a wanting to appease an old family friend (Shannon) and following his heart. I really believe his heart is in Coral Gables.

Will come down to the wire.

Not much of a friend if he is trying to get the kid to do something he doesn't want to do.

sounds pretty selfish to me

Dont get me wrong, I dont know the situation personally..but all reports have said that CHs dad and RShannon are old buddies. If he wanted to be a Gator, it would have been easy to just do it already. Wouldnt have been a shocker. So me thinks that he is legit torn. Like DSmith and like JHolliman will be once the euphoria of a great weekend in Miami with the family and his homeboy goes away. UGA is going to be tough to fight off.

Someone said it best, easy for your parents to say its "his decision and I will back him 110% wherever he goes" to the media..but behind closed doors..only they know what mama is really saying.

("Boy you know I like Richt, he is a god-fearing man and I know he will take care of you. But I just think staying closer to home and playing at UGA is the best thing for you. Miami is just a little too fast for my taste. But of course its your decision and I will stand by you no matter what.")

Talked of Friday night with a former high school teammate of mine from Columbus who is a coach there, he said that he's not sure about Henderson. It can go either way, btw us and UF

Thats basically what bandy said about henderson and jobe. He said he doesnt know about them guys because one day its one thing the next is some else.

Cristobal told Jobe that he is at the top of their CB board next year, even though he isn't going to be playing next season if he remains at CCHS/goes to Prep.

I'd love to have Henderson back in this class. Kid has high potential at corner. But I'm not giving my hopes up.

And it's amazing that Randy has recruited South Florida so much while in Gainesville. Never did it while he was here.

If you're referencing Holloman's situation in this post, I can promise you that's not the case.

It is 100% his call.

And his parents won't mind making visits to Miami, if that's his choice. Miami isn't "too fast" for them.

Amen, outside of his first "gimme" year when all of MNW and BTW had the local hero's back...It was Shannon that contributed heavily to losing Sofla int he first place!

Another one might be coming. JJ, Noticed some pro bama things lately and was shared a not so pro-Miami article today about the situation.

I talk to his cousin directly and he thinks he will stick regardless in the end and be at Miami but we'll see.

Did Antwan Smith really have on UM slippers?

What kind of reporting do you call this?

SMFH

Yes. & Jobe will end up here. But all this bashing of certain other recruits just to boost up Josh really isn't necessary. In the end he's a smart kid & he'll do what's right. There's a handful of kids in this class that you really can't go wrong with. He may be the cream but when you have attentive coaches mixed by a STRONG desire to be great well be fine period.it's not a knock on Josh to admit if we have al (who yes he needs work as ALL 17 & 18 year old kids do)& 2 or 3 other elite kids well be fine. Josh is extraordinarily gifted physically but he's not the sharpest tool in the shed either. When you get to a level where everyone is gifted your heart & your mind is what makes you stand out.

Miami will never be elite again that is just the reality

This is hard to argue...

As much as I hate to agree.

The internet and recruiting websites have put a spotlight on south FL that was never there in the days when we dominated.

So many amazing athletes that never got big time exposure were overlooked by all the other programs except us b/c we were the only ones who were plugged into it down here.

Especially in the 80s...

Miami rarely got the 5star players, they got 5star caliber players that were overlooked and rated low with few offers (Ed Reed, Sean Taylor, and Ray Lewis were all rated 3stars or under).

Recruiting websites have blown this thing up into a circus, especially down here in south FL.

It is very rare nowadays for an elite athlete in south FL to be overlooked.

Then you throw in the $$$$$ being offered to a lot more of these elite kids down here than you would like to believe...

We will only be able to sign elite kids from down here that grew up loving the Canes, and the further we get from our glory days, the harder that is going to become.

The kids coming out now have never seen a Hurricane team worth a ****.

It hurts, and I hate to admit it, but it almost seems like it is going to take a miracle for us to reach the mountain top again.

Just look at the teams that come down here and poach our top recruits year in and year out.

Then you hear the whispers of $$$$ being thrown at these kids (don't think for a second that Dalvin Cook, Patrick Peterson, Valentine, Sammy Watkins etc... weren't straight bought) and we can't compete with that.

Even Nevin's ***** a$$ said he could never out bid the $EC schools for top players, and if he did buy anyone, that would have been the first thing he would have told the NCAA since he was trying to bury us.

All the stuff that Nevin said happened goes on at almost every big time school, but those school's boosters would never give up that info b/c they are true fans and didn't become boosters to feel cool hanging out with football players.

But the buying of these elite level recruits no longer makes this a level playing field.

Look at the teams that don't play by the rules when it comes to recruiting...

They are usually in the top and constantly bring in top classes.

Cam Newton showed us that buying the right recruit can win you a NC, and he also showed these recruits that you can take the money, win the ****ing Heisman and the NC, get drafted #1 and nothing will go wrong.

Only thing you're sorely mistook about is in your thoughts that there's any difference exposure wise or competition wise from South Florida then to now. I played in the 90s & was raised with this program due to my father & godfathers. Since the days of Jimmy the whole nation has been after these kids. I'll tell you the true difference & quite possibly you or most won't want to hear it,but it's reality all the same. Several main factors. #1 kids in this day & age aren't raised the same. So much of South Florida football used to be kids that were crazy gifted were willing to do whatever to grind & get that life for them & theirs. Now kids the world across feel entitled for everything. They're scared to get out there & grow up. Do you realize in high school now physical education isn't even a required course... society is soft on our youths these days & it reflects mentally & physically on them as individuals. They got their cell phones & face book & Instagram. Kids are more interested in being social media celebs or Internet rappers than growing up on these fields. The rest really comes down to either bad evaluations or the fact that until recently we haven't had a staff that was willing to put in the work to bring out these kids skills. To coach them up & let that dog loose. Other than Searles who the book is still out on in my opinion, the rest of this staff can & will do the work necessary to bring these boys back.

I'm always leery of these "stand out" players who are a 1.5 years older than everybody. Tyler Byrd is one of them, Kid will be 22 next year as a true sophmore who couldn't earn a starting job this year. 1.5 years isn't **** in the NFL but in HS thats a world of difference.

How he relatesaid with the kids. As I've said before basically all of our o line alumni base loves this dude. But for me he's just sortve backwoods & laid back. True I don't really watch the oline at practice or have any clue bout how he is behind closed doors but to me I just don't know how he can relate to these kids & that's critical
