buzz heading into saturday

What is the infatuation with Johnson? He’s fast, yes, but kid ain’t ready
not really an infatuation... i was surprised he wasn't even mentioned considering Brashard Smith left and he's been here a year longer than Lyle and CWH....

not expecting him to get a ton of touches but with his skillset and speed, getting him 5 or 6 touches a game at RB or out of the backfield and he can change the game...

This secondary is still the one concern based off articles and people we all listen too.

But I'm hoping this defensive line is as good as the reports are saying because the secondary isnt going to have to guard for 5-6 seconds and have qb's just standing in throwing darts. They are going to be running for their lives at times.

I also love the idea that if we are up mid to late 3rd quarter our OL is going to potentially just wear you down to the point you can do nothing. Then a 7-10 pt lead becomes 14+ and clock just gets eaten up. We all want 50pts a game but in tough match ups ill take the 34-20 type wins where LB's and DB's want no part of our backs because they are getting 3-4 yard starts.

i personally dont see more than at best a backup with emory. we really need to go hard after a QB in the portal after ward leaves.

im excited to see lofton after all the hype.
I thought Emory was limited as well but I watched the Clemson game again last night on the ACC Network, and Emory was better than I remembered. And yes I know Dawson protected him all game with easy throws into 1 on 1 coverage, but with UM’s running game that can work. I found myself wondering what JIm Harbaugh could do with Emory. Win the running game, force the defense to leave the corners isolated because the safeties have to help in the run game, and then take occasion shots on the outside.

The other UM has made a living off that for 10 years under Harbaugh. I believe this UM could do the same with Emory at QB.

that leaves you extremely limited. his arm strength was not good at all and his accuracy wasnt great in the games he played. he just seems limited. i dont prefer the harbaugh method bc it also took them knowing other teams gameplans to win. i just dont think emory is gonna start here tbh

hes got a trait no one else has on the roster esp at that position. we need to find a way to get him the ball in space (it doesn't have to be traditional, but they cant misuse him like they did with B Smith).

Bottom line with the improvement on both lines if their as good as advertised I expect us to be very successful with 10+ wins-

ST needs to be very productive as well-We have one of the best FG kickers in the nation who will probably have to win a game or two at the end.

Did Burroughs land anywhere out of the portal? He would have been a nice addition to the interior DL and not have to worry or rely too much on Scott. If we could have snagged him and one more DB out of the portal this roster would have very few holes.

- elite QB
- elite RB
- 3 elite WRs
- 3 high upside TE
- 4 elite OL and 4 capable OL
- 4 elite DEs
- 4 veteran DTs
- 1 elite and 2 veteran LBs
- 2 veteran DBs and 2 upside DBs
- elite kicker

Year 2 same OC and DC

THIS USUALLY MEANS 11 WINS!!!!!!!!!!
I think you and I have a different definition of 'elite'.

This roster is very good, but I would not say that we are going into the season with 15 elite players on the team.

They aren’t relying on scott. A kid with that size, athleticism and upside why wouldn’t you try to push him to get on the field?

Track speed and football speed are two completely different things. Then there's vision, wiggle, stop/start acceleration, instincts, etc. that make a dynamic player dynamic. Simply having speed isn't enough and we have no idea if this kid has any of the traits I mentioned.

Listen I know we have all been beaten down over the past 20 years.

You can buy the hype this season. The thing that could derail the season is injuries to important people. I am an Atlanta Braves fan, we were preseason picks to win the World Series. Problem is the first game we lose the projected Cy Young winner for the season in Spencer Strider. We lose our all star catcher the same game for 2 months.

Then 2 months later we lose the reigning MVP for the season in Ronald Acuna Jr. Then we lose our starting CF for 2-3 Months, and our all star 2ND baseman for 2 plus months.

No team can sustain that many key injuries and be the same team.

Back to Miami we lead the ACC in most 1st team selections, and that is with Jalen Rivers getting absolutely ROBBED. We should have had at least 1 more with him, and frankly Damien Martinez is 1st team worthy also.

We have most preseason projected top 100 picks for 2025 NFL draft in the league also.

This is the best QB we've had since Dorsey, best RB we've had in a decade, best WR core since early 2000's, best OL since Stoutland, and best DL since early 2000's.

it really comes down to staying away from the injury bug, and it all coming together on the field imo.
I promised myself I aint buying the hype before the year after how last year played out and I've lied to myself yet again.

But thinking about that D Line room, O Line, Ward and Martinez I truly don't think this is a case of me lying to myself about what will happen on the field. This seems different because it's so many proven commodities.

We saw in 2017 what a good D Line can do. If this D Line is what we all think then the secondary should be heavily aided and look better than they should.

Cam ward extending plays is huge. TVD was a statue and throwing outside the pocket wasn’t his strong suit. Nor was mobility in the pocket. So even tho his line was great he got himself hit a lot. Cam can extend plays and throw off platform which will lead to some broken play completions. Keep drives going. He can also scamper for a first every now and then. Maybe even a quick goal line keeper off read option
