Butch Davis and Al Golden

Neither Al or Butch are great game day coaches, but don't get it twisted. Butch Davis Sh*tz on Al Golden All Day Every Day! The only thing these two have in common is that neither are great game day coaches, everything else Butch > Al.

Say what you want about scheme and accountability, but if Golden brings in 2 more classes like this one is shaping up to be... We will be a top 5 team in any scheme

How is that even remotely factual? Butch was only seen as great after his tenure when the players he developed turned out to be amazing. Nobody on this board has given goldens players to graduate yet so there's no comparison.

Most cane fans were calling for butchs head and some were even pumped he left after our 11-1 season

Well Butch went 8-3 his first year ..no bowl cause of probation
and 9-3 his second year

so thats just incorrect

in fact Golden best win percentage so far is 9-4 0.6923 Butch Davis had a equal/higher winning percentage then that every year in coached at Miami except 1997. Butch Davis also never lost a bowl game 4-0 as Miami coach.

Why argue about this? The fact is we won't know how good Golden can be until he gets a few good classes in. He deserves a pass for the last couple of years, but it's game on now for him. If he had decided to leave, moreover, UM could have done better than digging up Butch (who isn't even being considered by other schools like PSU, Louisville or Texas). It's highly doubtful that Butch could replicate his recruiting efforts of fifteen years ago (particularly with a new staff) and his gameday decision-making deficiencies are well known. Sick of the Butch talk. For better or worse, Golden is our guy for now.

So shut up and support the program. Go Canes!

Well you know what will drive you crazy then, in a year or so when Al blames our struggles on those 9 ships.......
You know it will happen. I still don't understand why the school just doesn't force Al's hand on Dorito. Hopefully they are preparing that move for after NSD, doubtful but one can dream.....
