Business decisions

I just got off the phone with the engineering department at MIT. Good Will Hunting told me that DMoney's comparison is suspect at best but it's not his fault.

It's not your fault, DMoney. It's not your fault. It's not your fault.

Not you, man, not you!!

Failing to land TC is a big miss. Slice that up any way you'd like.

I don't think anybody is debating that one. He's a 6'2 corner running 10.4. Those guys don't come around often. It's a huge loss.
Add the whole quote for context of why I stated it. Also, there's a previous post suggesting he's no different than the guys we have. No need to bring those guys in. They can be excellent and even star. But, TC brings a rare package.

Get the **** outta here with this soft *** take Rumph was brought here to recruit and recruit only he serves 0 purpose on this staff Now

he wasn't brought here to coach DB's? That's weird.

You really think Mark Richt hired a HS coach from a huge recruiting hotbed school, with ZERO experience coaching college, b/c of his "coaching" ability?????

Naive.

Tyson Campbell just stated in an interview his decision came last night at 9pm and it was between bama and Georgia

So dudes crying when miami wasn't even it the whole time. So the coach at heritage who said they were just visiting out of respect for rumph was right.

Respect. For. Rumph.

Hahahahaha.

I can only imagine if they didn't like him.

Rumph must be about as likable as Joaquin Phoenix in Gladiator.

Simple, Bama, UGA, Clemson, OSU and others are still perceived as the better programs.

We are making our way back, but have to get over a hurdle or two.

Our end of the season, that certainly didn't help. I think had we won the Pitt game as well as our bowl game, we would've had a better shot at some of the AH guys.

Watch the defense this year. If anyone thinks Diaz is more competent than whoever at OSU, Bama, Clemson, UGA....let me know. Diaz will have to prove he's not a busy this year and his job got a lot harder without Surtain and Campbell.

They're not PERCIEVED as better programs.... they ARE better programs.

They win more and recruit better. We did nothing today to close that gap.

I agree with them being better programs. All you have to do is look at the **** show at the end of the season minus Clemson who would've won no matter who was coaching us.

The problem with putting the blame on Rumph to me is this. You could put any coach in his position and it wouldn't matter. We are still Miami who is fighting an uphill battle against the powerhouse programs. Until we prove we belong with them, we are at a disadvantage in a head to head battle.

Surtain and Campbell weren't picking Bama and UGA's DB coaches over us, they were picking Saban and Smart. The way we got mauled by Clemson to see them dismantled in the BCS, that didn't help either.

Sucks, but that's the premise of this thread. They made a business decision and while we might not like it, they made the right one.

And how the **** do you propose we get to that level? We sure as **** aren't "out coaching" anyone, so we need to "out talent" people. It's painfully obvious we aren't getting to that talent level any time soon, so here we are. It's the chicken before the egg scenario.

I'm not sure, but I have some ideas on that. At work, maybe will get back to a response. Short version, just keep having better seasons and hopefully strike oil with a QB.

You get us Saban, Meyer, Dabo, or maybe even Smart in place of Richt, where do you think these guys would've signed? When you can go anywhere as those two could, the HC was probably the ultimate tiebreaker.

I mean that's basically it right there.

I expect to see people calling for Rumph's head. I don't agree at all, but I get the reaction. Losing those two monsters from his old school was a failure. I also expect to see the usual suspects complaining about South Florida kids choosing to leave town.

Here is the hard truth. If your son is an engineering prodigy, you can't blame him for going to MIT. Alabama and Georgia were in the championship. Saban is the best DB coach alive. These kids want to win championships and go pro.

We need to become the business decision for DBs. That takes time. Nesta Silvera made his own business decision to sign with the best defensive line coach in America. Brevin Jordan and Will Mallory made business decisions to sign with TEU. Jarren Williams made a business decision to sign with a proven developer of QBs.

This is a big-time class. Best offensive class in the nation and very good defensive group. Nesta was the guy keeping me up at night. Him and Ezzard are nasty human beings. Jordan Miller was a gift from the nose tackle Gods. Bethel will be next development project for Rumph. Mike Jackson and Adrian Colbert turned out pretty well.

Richt is one of the most proven recruiters in America, along with Saban and Urban. This class is another feather in his cap.

D$,

I always hear Saban is the best DB coach alive... If true, why is DB always Bama's weakness and why do they rarely pan out in the NFL? Maybe I'm an idiot but I can't be the only one that sees it that way. Their front 7 always outshines their backend and at least they do something in the NFL. Outside of Clinton-Dix who from their secondary since Saban got their has starred?

Forgot about Landon Collins.
