Bryce Fitzgerald is not slow

If he would've ran a 10.68 from the jump there never would have been a question about his speed.

When he ran an 11.5 it was, "100m times don't matter", but now that he's a sub 11, it's he's not slow.

So either the times don't matter or they do?

IF they do, then stop trying to explain away slow times & call a spade, a spade.

Fast athletes run fast times. as evidenced by him running a 10.6.
Like everything there's somewhere in the middle. It's more like the bad 100 times wasnt viewed as indicative of his game speed.

It's like plenty of NFL players who run bad 40s doesn't mean they are slow. Some guys may have slightly faster 40 times than youd think from film also - like Mathew Golden recently. How much do you value it vs film though?

Really, really hard to convince kids to be physical football players when they aren’t at 17 years old.

You either enjoy snatching souls, or you don’t. Or at a minimum, you do it for the betterment of yourself and your team. If you’re just not very interested in contact, it’s very hard for me to believe you’re going to be much of a football player.

Open to being proven wrong. But there are a LOT of kids who can run 10.6 and aren’t very good at football. I’m more partial to the kids who are really good at the sport and not so much how fast they run on a track.

He’s not slow. That’s great. Genuinely, I’m not being snarky. I enjoy football players who aren’t slow. But is he a football player who isn’t slow. Or is he just not slow?

I think he is a soft ball player that isn’t slow, lol. Not to be a fence straddler but you can be soft and be a good ball player…more so at certain positions but it has happened plenty. Do you want a team full of them? Of course not, but again … it happens.

I don’t think he plays much if at all in 2025, especially if he is starting at CB, but intrigued if Etheridge can get anything out of him. He is an extremely smooth athlete at 6’+ and has the long speed to match. If I knew he was going to be forced into action next year then this would be a bigger deal, but he is way behind the 8 ball in the pecking order at that spot.

Until we turn it around on the field when it matters, throw all the bodies at DB as possible. If he can’t cut it, he will be gone in 2 years, simple as that 🤷🏾‍♂️.

This.

Fitzgerald knows how to play. He has great ball skills, is a smooth runner with the ball, and overall has playmaking instincts.

It's really just about the physicality. It's the only trait that's missing. But it's a hard one to teach.

does Bryce have feel for KR & PR. We saw CJ last year (probably the fastest player in the country) with all his speed & suddenness struggle to develop any vision or timing. The young man Bryce can move but can he add value to the return game rn.

Maybe added weight gain in college will give him the confidence to play more physical. Primetime wouldn't tackle either but overcame that deficiency by sticking to WRs like glue.

Let's just not waste time and make him a wr, his more natural position.

Contact confidence has to be taught. He'll never be Ray Lewis but he can at least be a stick in bike spokes.

If we’re being honest D money, it’s almost an impossible trait to teach. You either have that built-in aggression that you were born with or you don’t. When it comes to physicality, it’s really as simple as that. Can someone who wasn’t born with that aggression up their physicality a little bit to be at least average, yeah but it’s no walk at the park.

If Fitzgerald doesn't play offense versus us, we beat Columbus by 2 scores easy. He made 2 plays on offense that completely changed the game for them.

He was an impact on offense and special teams.
On the flip side, our offense racked up 450 yards and had their way with Columbus' secondary. (and they didn't avoid Fitzgerald)

🤷🏻‍♂️ Do with that info what you may.
(Did I say that right?)
