Bryce Fitzgerald is not slow

If Fitzgerald doesn't play offense versus us, we beat Columbus by 2 scores easy. He made 2 plays on offense that completely changed the game for them.

This seems easy. He is capable of making plays on offense, he's verified to have good speed, and he's not too fond of hitting people.

Put him in the WR room yesterday.

At Safety, he's NOT an impact all over the field. He back-pedals every play, stays deep, and if the ball floats through the air he's gonna snatch it. But that's pretty much it. He's not gonna punish a WR on a short/intermediate route, he's certainly not gonna fill the alley in run support, he's not gonna force many fumbles.

There's A LOT to playing Safety...especially in today's game. And you HAVE TO be willing to support the run. If he's reluctant to tackle 180lb high school RB's, he ain't gonna tackle 215lb college RB's and 245lb TE's.

CB, WR, KR, PR.

Displays “easy speed” on his film. Running by guys while not looking like he’s giving max effort. Doing himself a disservice if he’s intent on defense… Plays safety like a youth ball player that knows he’s the best athlete. Not a lot of great technique, just hovering/baiting QBs. Doesn’t come downhill to tackle AT ALL. Often “catches” or gives ground when tackling. Would be interesting to see his 100m time later in the season, might be getting faster as he develops physically/could get even faster at UM.

Seems simple based on those in the know. Kickoff day 1, compete at punt returner, and wr. Likely won't see much time as a receiver this year outside the 2 gimme games on schedule but that's fine if he can impact specials.
