Defensive end Brian Burns (Plantation, Fla./American Heritage) has a "very nice" official visit to Georgia this weekend, per his father Brian Burns, Sr.

"I think he really enjoyed it," Burns said. "The part I know he liked the most was how Georgia told him how they are planning to use him coming off the edge."

How does the father feel his son's recruitment is shaping up?

"This is just me but I think it's Georgia and Florida State with Florida three," Burns, Sr. said.

The Crystal Ball reads 75-percent for Florida, 17-percent for Georgia and eight-percent for Miami.

His father said Burns still plans to officially visit Florida this weekend and Florida State January 29.

Will Hurricanes cornerbacks coach Mike Rumph, who was Burns' high school coach, get an official visit for Miami?

"I doubt it," Burns Sr. said. "I don't think there's enough time yet unless they can make something happen midweek."

The four-star prospect is ranked as the nation's No. 6 weak side defensive end and the No. 15 prospect in Florida in the 2016 class by 247Sports.com Composite Rankings.

274Sports.com could have more from Brian Burns on his Georgia official visit once he returns to Florida this evening.

Then let's get something mid week just for him
Sounds a lot like a Matthew Thomas situation IMO in that the kid just doesn't seem like he wants any part of the program and may visit just cause he may feel he has to. He's not trolling like Thomas did though. I doubt we flip this kid

Its very telling when his own coach cant get his trust and even get a courteousy visit. I will lower my expectations for Rumph's recruiting talents

I don't know what to make of it. Who knows what the hellz the dynamics are in the relationship between Rumph and Burns versus Burns' relationships and experiences with other schools???

burns coming or not coming here doesn't have anything to do with rumph.

I know it's crazy to imagine but some recruits go where THEY want to go. They don't just follow some high school coach around. Burns has been off Miami for a long time and it's not indicative of Rumph's recruiting at all if he doesn't come here.

**** man things are worse than ever fire Rumf fold the program he shouldn't be allowed to leave wtf are the coaches doing lock him down man nvm I want TRUE CANES he's probably getting paid by $EC or wouldn't qualify his coach probably hates Golden, etc . k good talk bye ttyl

Nice excuse. Lets review all of Rumph's other blue chips that had serious interest in miami. Can you name one? Rumph was an all american, national champ, and first round millionaire. He cant inspire not a single player to follow his path? Most young players always look for a mentor to follow. No one chooses him

Burns wasn't coming either way. Brandon Johnson has been committed to tennessee for four months(both his Miami recruiters gone now).

Eubanks is rumored to be visiting pretty much soley because of Rumph. Herbert is not miami caliber. Rumph also played a solid part in getting malek young

not to mention he got hired just two weeks ago and the dead period ended less than a week ago. Before you go all prima donna, wait until it plays out. Also Heritage has a lot of talent coming in next year

My main point though is people believe that high school coaches have more pull than they actually do. If a kid loves a school and plays a different position. Why would he come to Miami just because rumph is cornerback coach? how does that benefit Burns? it's nothing against Rumph, it's just too late for some kids as our whole staff was just hired

Bad hire by Richt in my opinion. All he did was steer away his kids from Miami and now that he needs them they say **** no. I don't even think he is a good position coach, all I needed to hear was that first interview with wqam where he says back in American plantation high he was more focus on the administration, talking to parents, wants to be more hands on. That sounded to me that he was lazy as a high school coach, delegating teaching to the kids.

Any other marquee program hires a dude's HS HC, and it's pretty much a slam dunk.

This is what happens when the coach you hire had been talking **** about the program up until that week for the last 4 years to every blue chip who walks through the door.

I don't think he trashed the program - he trashed the staff. But your point remains - this is the biproduct of exposing UM for years. It's his own doing. The real test will be next year's class.

I bet if Rumph got hired by UGA they'd all follow him there like the Pied Piper.
