Bowl Projections (12/1)

The only people happy about this *** matchup are the Louisville people. They gain everything.... they get to come to Florida, they get to send their recruiters out and pick off the partial qualifiers or whoever they usually get, they get the opportunity to beat a marquis opponent like Miami.

What does Miami get out of this? If we beat Louisville, nobody will care.... it's a ****ty Big East team and a basketball school. If by some chance we lose to Louisville, then we just lost to a big east team and a basketball school.

This is *** all around. I want a real matchup. Why can't we play Georgia or something like that?
Because we didn't take care of business and beat the teams we should have beat (VT & Duke).

Had we beaten them we'd probably be going to the Chick-fil-a instead of Duke. Also, newsflash, Dook is a basketball school and they beat us already.

Did Georgia take care of business? They lost a ton of games. What about Tennessee? There's a lot of football schools who had crap years who we can play. Not fuggin Louisville. We'll get like 2 people in Kentucky watching the game.
Odds are, they are related.

No way in **** Chick takes Duke over Miami, TAM vs Miami is a **** matchup and would get viewers. No one is watching Duke, period.

If you had beat duke and vetch you would be going to the acccg and probably a bcs game to replace FSU since they are going to the MNC

Bowl games are about filling seats, so that money is spent locally. The tv money is already guaranteed. You fill seats by having an attractive matchup, and/or having geographically desirable teams. Duke alumni will travel to Atlanta for their first meaningful bowl game in a long time. Miami fans will travel to Orlando, not so much to Atlanta for a non BCS game. I think the ACC would also want a Miami Louisville matchup, and will lobby for that.

You have this completely backwards. First, TV money might be guaranteed for this year, but they need good ratings in order to sell NEXT year. Duke will draw no one on TV. Secondly, the farther we are from Miami, the more confident I am that we will have a good showing. The LAST people I want to rely on for away games are the people who can't get up and drive across town for a home game. We draw well on the road because Miami fans in those areas never get to see our games in person, thus they show up.

ESPN has their picks out now:

Mark Schlabach picks Miami-Louisville in the Russell Athletic with Clemson-TAMU in the Chick-Fil-A.
Brad Edwards picks Miami-TAMU in the Chick-Fil-A with Clemson-Alabama in the Orange.

Both have Duke-UCLA in the Sun.

No matter if it is Louisville or A&M ugly things will be happening to our defense. Only can hope it is ugly enough to get Donf fired.

Not sure why everyone keeps saying this. The defense has been horrible all year, particularly brutal over the last five games. The dude's fate has been decided. Either he is getting fired or he isn't. One more game isn't going to make anyone say "holy sht, that guy needs to go".

What does this even mean? Georgia is 8-4. Georgia barely beat Georgia Tech yesterday. UGA is not a better matchup than Texas A&M or Louisville. Just because they have the name "Georgia" doesn't mean they're better than Louisville. Heck, UCF is probably better than UGA, especially without Murray.

If it had been decided already that he would be fired, then he would be fired. There would be no reason to keep him on the staff if you have already decided he's gone at the end of the year. Would give his friend a leg up in finding a job for next year and himself a leg up finding a replacement.

The hope is the bowl simply leaves Al no choice.

If you believe that, then he is staying. But it is entirely possible that he could be fired at any time before or after the bowl game.

No one is waiting to see how he does against one of the nation's top offenses before they make a decision. We couldn't stop Pittsburgh. Right now, the decision is done. Just like with Pease. That decision didn't come after the FSU game.

Most coordinators aren't fired until after the bowl games. Coaches don't like being short staffed for bowls and having to worry about doing heavy research/interviewing during bowl prep isn't very appealing.

I agree with this.

Golden already knows what he's gonna do one way or another.

Would rather play Teddy B, than Johnny Football.

Neither.

I don't want the storyline of a Miami kid that turned down the Canes torching us before he leaves for the NFL.

Likewise I don't want to see Johnny Football obliterate us.

You and your logical rational thinking have no place here.

It all depends on what the Orange does. If they go Fredo on the ACC, we end up in Orlando.

800 yards of TO & 6 passing TDs in a romp would most def **** someone off enough to make a change. All though there may be a change regardless or not.

But if they aren't already ****ed off about VT doing that, then they certainly won't be swayed by Texas A&M or Louisville doing it.
