Bo Nix to Oregon

The QB position in College is the most crapshoot position to project kids. The crootin' sites get it so wrong that I'm surprised that they still give out stars for the position. From Kyle Wright & Kirby Freeman, to Nkosi Perry, Jarren Williams, & Tate Martell, crapshoot Bruh.
You certainly have a point but I think the evaluation of the QB position has gotten much better since Kyle and Kirby came out.

In terms of positions that are the toughest to project I think OL is tougher than QB generally speaking.

All I know is that I wish he would’ve been on the field in the 4th quarter of the Auburn vs Bama game this season instead of that LSU transfer who was hobbling around on one leg.

So Brown is better???

They are about the same. I think Oregon did a better job of protecting Brown from himself. That is hard for me to admit because I hate Moorehead system. While Auburn was expecting Nix to be the Savior when he first got there.

The last name and 5 star gave him a longer leash. He also go thrown in QB1 way before he was ready. He flashed some talent but he tries to do too much… all the time.

I am glad that the Canes don’t have the Ducks’ QB problems. 😅😅😅😅Neither QB Brown or Nix could play here, so Mario inherits a much better QB room in Coral Gables.

Now let's compare the defenses they faced.....Brown was in literally the weakest division in college football.

I would take Bo ..not saying he is a world beater but he is better than Brown
You're getting expired meats at the end of the day at a Walmart like Joe Exotic with either of these choices.

Congrats to Oregon for getting their 7 days expired Oscar Meyer weiners.

Wright was considered by all the "experts" to be the #1 QB in the nation as a HS senior. Turned out he couldn't hit the proverbial broadside of a barn at UM. How was an eval THAT wrong even possible?

He could hit a broadside of a barn. You're exaggerating a bit there. Wrights problem was that he couldn't process the game fast enough at the college level. In terms of the "experts" bring wrong, it happens quite a bit. My only point in the post you quoted is that QB evals have improved since the days of Kyle and Kirby. Generally speaking of course. The step up in competition from high school to P5 college level is significant. There is far more to process and less time to process it against much better and faster competition.

Over the last 15 years the proliferation of the spread offense together with the fact that high school players, QBs in particular are receiving much better overall coaching and preparation for the next level has had a tremendous impact on the ability to more accurately project QBs to the college level. One of the most significant factors is the fact that the spread has taken the high school level by storm and consequently QBs are in turn much more prepared for the spread offenses that they will be asked to run in college. Add this to the fact that there has been an explosion in opportunities for young high school QBs to receive specialized coaching to enhance their development for the next level through private camps and personal QB gurus.
