Big Boy Talk on this new group of Hurricanes....

Disappointed that we didn't get one of the DTs and Thomas. Collins hurt on Monday but the more I think about RBs grow on trees in South Florida. Get Sony and Cook next year and we won't even remember Collins and the fat man. Sitting back and look at this class I see a lot of quality:

Coley - best WR prospect we have landed since Andre. If the kid keeps his head on right he will be a star. Huge pick-up.

AQM - terror off the edge and will give QBs nightmares

Olsen - the second coming

Beau - Gronk 2.0

Burns -the best athlete in this class hands down. Unreal speed and athleticism

Grace - looks like another Sean Spence.

Dobard - old school Cane attitude with talent to back it up

Carter - kid might kill someone out there. Good luck going across the middle with he and Bush lurking.

Gall - most underrated kid in this class. Straight mauler. Won best OL in his area his last two years.

Bond - another killer off the edge

Knighton - versatile kid that could play anywhere on the OL or even DT

RL3 - comes in a package deal with the great one. Whatever he gives us on the field is just gravy.

This new group of Canes reminds me of some old Hurricanes. Guys like Dan Morgan, Nate Webster, and Ed Reed and Santana and Reggie immediately come to mind. Those guys wanted to be Hurricanes, and they were grinders and hard-nosed guys. They came here when it wasn't the popular thing to do.

When those guys came here we were in the midst of dealing with the repercussions of our last struggle with the NCAA. The Orange Bowl was empty. We would go to games where there was literally 3,000 people in the stands no matter what the announced attendance was. But Freckles Davis, who was a monster at evaluating character, found a group of talented guys who, more importantly, were determined guys. They weren't 5 star guys, and they weren't front-runners; they were guys with that inner drive to succeed that is so tough to evaluate. Our program is in similar condition these days. Our stadium is empty. We aren't the "it" program. But Al managed to find a group of guys who are very talented, and who, most importantly, are no-nonsense grinders who want to be here and relish the opportunity to be Canes.

Look at guys like Carter and Burns and Coley. How much twitter ***gotry did they engage in? How much diva **** did they pull? How many times did they commit and de-commit or try to "troll" the coaches and fans?

Think about Alex Gall. Then, think about Martin Bibla, who was a rough and tumble dude from Pennsylvania. Does anyone think that Gall will be anything but a success with his grit and toughness? Come on. This dude's about as close to a guaranteed on the OL as you will find. F#ck the fat 4 star with the puzzy attitude who will cash his chips if things don't go his way. Give me this mean sumbytch any day of the week.

Think about Mr. Stantastic and how badly he wanted to be a Cane. And this dude has skills to go along with it. When the chips are down, these are the guys who will make plays when the divas are quitting because it's too hot or too tough.

Think about Kevin Olsen, who never got shook even when Fisch split. Then, think about Ken Dorsey.

Think about God'sGiftGus, and then harken back to a different era with Steve McGuire or Alonzo Highsmith. Tough dudes with skill.

How about Sonny? You think there's any chance that dude will let himself fail? His mom sleeps in dirt, and his little brother got kidnapped by a 200 pound mosquito last week. This dude is fighting for real life ****, not thinking about some dumb **** he can say on twitter. Big Bryant McKinnie was playing the tuba a couple years before he got here. He wasn't a hugely heralded guy.

I applaud our new group of guys and can't wait to see them develop.

solid work as usual 'chise

I was going to bold the same part of the OP so might as well respond here.

I honestly think some people are very disapointed we didn't get some of the guys because there wasn't much talk about the ones we got.

***** is the clear example of waht I'm saying. I mean, the guy is a 300 pound fat slob diva son of a **** constantly yapping and running his mouth about how he's the greatest thing since sliced bread instead of grinding to get better, but we had a thread on here about him every single day. Subconciously, we made him bigger than he really is, hence the sting we feel that he didn't choose us.

Thomas on the other hand, was never the diva that ***** was, but he still was sorta playing games it looks like as he never really had Miami in the picture but left the staff hope they could get him (from what I understand at least). So he drags it into NSD, we talk about him a TON, and we feel like **** when we don't land him.

What if Carter had played those same kinda games? Or Burns? Or Olsen? Or AQM? We would've been talking about them a lot too, would've considered them MONUMENTAL gets on NSD and the loss of the other guys would've felt less painful I believe.

So what do we get? Hard working, straight forward and true Miami Hurricanes.

**** everyone else. We got who really wanted to come on board, and got some real ballers, 11 of 16 of which I highly doubt will be anything less than solid to elite contributors.

/By the way, great post, Chise, +Rep, and definitely deserved.

Excellence in execution, max. You hit a homerun on the psychology of what happened. The more attention those ***gots drew to themselves the more they got talked about and the more the fans thought we needed them. Meanwhile, guys like Burns and Carter just stayed quiet, and most people forgot about them.

After reading this post the only one that really hurts is Matthew Thomas. That dude just seems like such an old school Cane. I have no problem with not getting Keef, let him go clown it up in Tally.

In a small class there is a lot of quality here. Not much "Fat." Im a fan of the guys we got.

He might have been an old school 'Cane...just maybe...

Now he's just Marvin Jones...

and that ************ went 0-3 against the 'Canes.

Time to die.

I think he's an old school puppet **** dried seed towel.

I'd add anorexic. Can't wait to see Gus Edwards drill him.

Brilliant post, Franchise. Hope these talented warriors that chose to become Canes on this fine day remember every facking slight made towards the U today, and make sure they kick FSWho's and the traitor's teeth in for as long as he wears the upside down 9 for those ****. I think we landed a great class and can't wait for these young cats to get to the U. Karma is a biotch, and the traitor will soon find out it wears the orange and green. It's all about the U!!!

Amen brotha franchise!!!

Don't forget RL3, who bleeds orange and green. You know pops is going to be around more often, reminding these guys what being part of the canes family means.

Artie and burns solidifying what's going to be a great secondary. Tightend U is making a comeback with sandman and killastan. And we got some terrors on the edge two with bond and figs.

Can't wait to see this class shine. Love what golden and co. Are doing.

In terms of Matthew Thomas it makes you appreciate the straight forward message of a Joey bosa. Didn't want to be a cane nor did he care to be a cane but didn't yank the coaches around for a year plus making them think they had a shot when they never did. Being upfront from the get go is what I can respect even if you don't want to be a cane.

I'd love to see God'sGiftGus snap that Karen Carpenter looking ****** in half. Or have him running around on STs and just get ear-holed viciously by Figueroa like Sapp did to Chad Clifton (?) on that turnover.

Im honestly really excited about these kids. I dont see any entitled candy @sses that are just here because its "popular" to be here. These are the kids with the chip on their shoulders who come to work hard, and have that "us against the world' mentality. That is what the U is all about, that is what made this program what it is, what it was, and made us great.

Think about the de-evolution of Hurricane football. Think about the big shouldered gritty warriors who were a little underrated by the services who re-built this place (Reed, Wayne, Moss, Morgan, Dorsey, and the list goes on) with their hard work and determination. Then, think of the entitled bozos who were highly ranked recruits and tried to jump on the machine that those tough guys built and just coast to championships (Ryan Moore, Jolla, Willie, etc.). As much as people want to collect stars, it's absolutely integral to build a TEAM. And a great TEAM isn't always the biggest collection of HS stars.

I couldn't agree with you more.
Love our class. You can see that Golden is embracing what The U is all about with his recruiting classes.
Guys who are all athletic and play like they are rabid dogs.
Bond, AQM, Figs, Carter, and hopefully this killer from Louisiana Williams are going to be hurting people.
Good luck trying to cover Sandland, Dobard and Coley.
The Africans who are not just playing for The U but for their families and the pride of their countries.
And Baby Jesus.
In Nomine Patri et Figli et Spirito Sancti.
Amen.

That's what I'm waiting for. On Fig's tape he destroyed people on special teams.
I'm waiting for him to knock that traitorous ********** out on the first kickoff.

Chise, I must commend you on starting one of the best threads I've seen on this board since I came on board. Your original post brought some clarity and sense to often hysterical board.

We got some solid players, but you're sticking your head in the sand if you don't think missing on Alex Collins and Matthew Thomas was a huge FAIL on Al Golden's permanent record.

It is what it is.

Just win, and I'll forgive you Al. The honeymoon, however, is over.

I expect an old school Miami Hurricane season next year.

Big difference between "missing" and being the victim of a bunco scam. We didn't "miss" **** with those two ***gots. We got jobbed the f#ck out by a couple of do-boys who were too stupid and whose families were too stupid to see through the horseshyt their scumbag corches were pulling.

Collins mama saw it way too late. She shouldve put an end to this much earlier if she really wanted her boy close to home. Now he will be sitting in the middle of the armpit of the country with that fat **** Kirkland (if he qualifies)

Based on some of Jirkland's quotes from yesterday, he'd have trouble qualifying for Special Ed.

There's a reason Liberace's mom saw it too late--she didn't give a f#ck what he was up to until she started sniffing out that other people might be getting deals off of Liberace. She's likely holding out.
