Best Single Game Performance By a UM Player?

Still think the answer is Jerome- D tackle with 14 tackles? c'mon.

South Florida Sports Paradise: Ghosts of the Orange Bowl: Jerome Brown

He introduced himself to the college football world on October 19, 1985. The Canes traveled to Norman, Oklahoma to take on the Sooners. Miami was a young team and unranked at the time, while Oklahoma was a top national championship contender. In a game that featured two future hall of famers (Michael Irvin and Troy Aikman) and dozens of future NFL players, Jerome Brown was the best athlete on the field. Late in the first quarter with the score tied 7-7, Oklahoma attempted a short field goal to take the lead. Brown charged up the middle, through the Oklahoma line, and blocked the kick. He then pumped his arms and screamed to the crowd it was going to be a long day for the Sooners. Brown almost single-handidly dominated the game. Late in the second quarter, he sacked Oklahoma quarterback Troy Aikman. Two plays later, he stormed by the OU offensive line and combined with UM teammate John McVeigh to sack Aikman again. The tackle was so violent, Aikman would fracture his leg. The injury ended Aikman's career at Oklahoma and lead to his transfer to UCLA where he would later emerge as a top pro prospect. Brown finished the afternoon with 14 tackles from his defensive tackle position, blocked a kick and a recovered a fumble. He did this despite being constantly double-teamed. The Canes won 27-14

Ted Hendricks against UF and Steve Spurrier. Didn't Spurrier get so mad he threw the ball at Hendricks?

Just read Hendricks sacked Spurrier 7 times that day, and it was the weekend after Spurrier won the Heisman. Miami won, 21-16. Sure wish there was film of that game somewhere.
I was in the Navy for the 66 season. However, in 67 I sat in a sea of gator fans in the OB. While we were kicking gator *** once again, the gator girl next to me said "too bad we don't have Spurrier this year". I not so gently reminded her that Spurrier got his *** kicked too. I don't remember her or her beta boyfriend saying another word before they left early.

**** the gators.

underrated post, post is underrated.

Yeah I'd agree, that should definitely be an individual performance in the argument. Another example of defensive players' performances/feats being overshadowed with the passing of time compared to those of offensive players.

This. I have watched A LOT of Canes football dating back to 1982, and all of the performances mentioned are definitely worthy of an all-time greatest performance label, particularly Sean Taylor and Edge, but for some reason when this question popped up, and notwithstanding any of his criticisms, I immediately thought of Sapp's performance, albeit in a losing effort in this game. I still talk about it to this day. The extenuating circumstances really make this an epic performance:
- National title on the line
- Historically, a Nebraska team that was one of the most talented in NCAA history (this was around their run where they won National Titles in 3 out of 4 years; incredible even by today's Alabama standards)
- They had geared their entire strategy to stopping Sapp (he was continually double teamed and in some cases triple teamed)

Coaches talk pursuit and never giving up on a play, well Sapp looked like he was in the camera frame on nearly every Nebraska offensive play. He never quit and was relentless the entire game literally trying to will our team to a win by carrying everyone on his back. When coaches talk about players leaving it all out on the field, I believe this performance should be shown to demonstrate that quality. Few times in my life have I ever seen someone with so much competitive fire in his belly. If you haven't seen this game, it is hard for me to recommend it since we lost, but if you can stomach it, it is truly legendary. I normally can't talk about a big game loss for days, but in this one, I really don't know what more could have been done, as we just got beat by a team with a lot more talent that day (I won't admit that often).

Brock Berlin comeback against the Gates was pretty epic. Dan Morgan against FSU 2000

Miami has had a lot of games by front 7 defenders that don't get as much pub as they should cuz there weren't actual points being scored unlike their offensive or defensive back counterparts, but yeah, some great individual games.

The one in 2000 by Morgan that you mentioned.
Vilma in the 2001 title game vs Nebraska.
Tiger Clark vs Notre Dame in 1989.
Daniel Stubbs vs UF in 1987.
Jerome Brown against OU sometime in the mid 80s.
The list goes on and on...

Warren Sapp in a losing effort against Nebraska.

If we could have mustered a few first downs in the final quarter, we would have won.
Also, Costa had a wide open receiver open for 6 which was overthrown. That would have put the game away.

Excellent performances mentioned.

Honorable mention based on it's affect on the program:
Jim Kelly vs Penn State in 1979.
One could argue that this game was the game that started it all.

Aikman may have won that game for OU if we didnt knock him out of it.

Ottis Anderson second half against Florida in 1978. 30 second half carries. Lou Saban road him the entire half. Miami trailed at half time 14-3 and won 22-21 for first win against the Gator since 1970. Might not have been the best but it was unbelievable to watch and he was doing it with a bad offensive line. And it was smoking hot on artificial turf.

Was going to mention that one. We enjoyed the game and the train ride back to Miami after game. Lowlife gator fans threw beer bottles at train. Great day

Another game that few here were alive to know about was in 1967 in the Orange Bowl when Ken CBC Corbin had 2 pick sixes. The ironic part was the CBC stood for Concrete Block Hands as he was known for being unable to catch a football. We won game 20-13

What an amazing game Jacory Harris! Two of the biggest rivals in all of college football, The Miami Hurriances and the Florida State Seminoles, battled it out for bragging rights and the Hurricanes prevailed 38 – 34. Jacory immortalized himself with one of the best quarterback performances in this historic rivalry. Harris threw for 386 yards -- including a 40-yard pass over double coverage to Travis Benjamin, setting up Graig Cooper's 3-yard touchdown run with 1:53 left -- and led the Hurricanes past No. 18 Florida State 38-34.

Harris was 7-for-9 with 122 yards after returning from a vicious fourth-quarter hit that left him feeling numbness in some of his fingers. Of those seven completions, three were on third down, and each gave Miami a much-needed first down. Throughout the game, Harris showed the ability to throw the ball deep effectively, especially when throwing more than 30 yards downfield.

Harris was 4-for-4 for 138 yards and one touchdown when throwing the ball 31 yards or more downfield.

Other Harris numbers:
-> Harris was 6-9 with 170 yards after a play action.
-> Harris really worked the left side of the field.
-> Harris did a lot of damage on 1st down
