Beau Sandland

Chase Ford part 2? Big hype, only two years with little production? I hope not.

Silly comparison. Ford got tons of playing time and repeatedly showed he couldn't do much. Sandland has had minimal playing time. He hasn't been given the opportunity yet to even begin equating the two.

I expect him to flourish next year without Morris. The drives Morris wasn't on the field at USF, Sandland was dominating.

Didn't Sandland say early in the year that the jump from JUCO to Miami was overwhelming.
Pierce College is a little crappy community college in The San Fernando Valley just off Victory Blvd.
it's far from big time football and their competition is weak.
Beau may have been a junior in age but in football IQ was just like a freshman.
The physical traits are there, but like every 1st year player he looks like he needs time to make the transition.

why would he leave when the next years QB will live and Die with TE's routes. Morris had a touch problems that's why those intermediate routes didn't work that well for him. But Williams will look to the TE more often then not, which will keep the chains moving.

Go Canes!

Williams threw to Beau a bunch when he was in. Al noted that he was surprised how much YAK Beau got. I guess he wasn't allowed to hit in practice. Morris never seemed to throw to him. Clive got some nice downfield action but not much for those shorter routes for Beau. Williams will make Beau a known actor.

So Beau is going to forego his Sr yr so he can transfer to a different school where he has zero eligibility left? Makes sense!:diaf:

Ford is in his 2nd yr in the nfl. Maybe it our qb who couldnt get him the ball. Just like he couldnt get Jimmy Graham the ball.

He was crowned before playing a down. He said himself it was tough adjusting to the speed coming from juco. He couldn't beat out Walford or Cleveland either. I'm hoping we see something out of him before he leaves.

Close the thread. This says all you need to know.

It was clear from the first spring practice that Sandland wasn't as athletic as we thought.

He will be better next year but he's not as good as Walford.

D, I know you are bullish on walford, but I haven't seen a more jittery player in a big game since that pacers backup point guard against the heat last year. My gawd

I hope beau is able to make a run at the starting gig next year

Walford played horrible against FSU. Worst game of his career. Messed him up for the rest of the season. But he was bulldozing people as a blocker against Florida, and that was a big game against a great defense.

I said it before the year when people were penciling in Sandland to start: Walford is the better athlete, he's bigger, and he's a superior all-around tight end. Sandland sat behind two guys that were recruited by the previous regime.

If I could have Walford's athleticism and Sandland's heart, then we'd have...... well

Another Jeremy Shockey.

If Walford had better hands imo, he would be a serious threat for us. He has made some huge drops at critical moments in games.

Walford is pedestrian as ****. We've been so deprived of a legit TE threat lately that we forgot what one really looks like. He's not a mismatch for anybody. Not explosive, doesn't high-point the ball well and has questionable hands. And there's nothing "sudden" about him, he's lumbering.

I'm waiting on Dobard, personally. He's the only TE on our roster that reminds me of a good ol' fashioned TE mismatch.

Was it?

From what I've seen Sandland is a better athlete and a much more dangerous receiving threat.

Coley/Golden obviously prefer TEs that can block.

I'm going to trust golden boy in this. After all, he was a TE when he played...
