### One complaint that UM players have raised about defensive coordinator Mark D’Onofrio is the players don’t feel they can give him suggestions about what they can do differently on defense. “He doesn’t want feedback,” one parent said. Conversely, offensive coordinator James Coley asks players for suggestions, a player said. In fact, Coley is open to feedback during games.
### Something to keep in mind if Al Golden stays at UM instead of going to Penn Stat. Even though several UM defensive players have praised coordinator Mark D’Onofrio publicly, some have expressed frustration privately because they want to play a more attacking style.

I agree with the players who are frustrated.

If the DL can't get pressure then D'Onofrio needs to fire up some Rex Ryan style blitzes. I'd rather give up 500 yards because we were aggressive with opportunities for turnovers and big plays than 500 yards of them just running circles around the defense and Miami just standing around allowing it to happen.

the secondary guys probably wanted to blitz more. this team only blitzed with deon, aqm, or tyriq. the dl couldnt pressure anyone and gaines, ambrister, and ty played like they have cinder blocks on their feet.

For the life of me I still don't know why Golden would keep No D on his staff...he practically has fielded the worst defense in the history of canes football

i think golden is giving him another year because he felt he didnt have experienced talent. his first year here we werent that bad.

What? The defense was an abortion in 2011. The scoring was only ranked 17th because we played an incompetent USF team and held them to 3. We consistently got torched that year.

After reading this, I've just about decided to put my support for this program on hold for a few years. At the rate we are going now, we'll be lucky to end up with a Div. 2 football team when the Nitwit Lions are finally done with us. Have been reading this and other Miami boards for some weeks now and it's just sickening to see what is happening to the Canes.I know I'm not alone in wondering what kind of Amateur Hour we have now in Coral Gables. It gets worse every day. It is beyond sad,

Did you watch the games? The defense sucked.

Of course it sucked. Heck Tim Walton was fired after one year after fielding a better D than Dorito had in 2011.

Ny, you have to understand the warped mentality of the staff we are dealing with here. Golden and Dorito look at 2011 as being a good tough D. No joke they really do. They just point to the #17 scoring D stat and think it's great. Man this is going to be one long off-season.

Yup, part of the reason we didn't give up more points in 2011 is because we played at a snail pace on offense.

How is the offense playing slow and keeping the defense fresh a bad thing? It has been well documented that the offense this season hurt the defense by low 3rd down conversion percentages or home run plays early in drives.

Would you read what you just wrote? What modern Miami defense/head coach ever talked about the offense protecting the defense. Defense has been the catalyst for our good to great teams since I was alive. Our defense made it easier for the offense. Now we've got Golden wanting the offense to protect his awful defense and people buying that line of bullshyt.
