from football. Per the Miami Herald.

The 49'ers must have told him to try the rodeo clown business. This guy was the worst safety in the conference and he decided to give the NFL a shot. It's more than laughable.

Dont be *** just wish him luck and move, yea he was terrible but he bled green so get over it HE GONE........

No need to trash the kid for being invited to an NFL camp. He wasn't a good player, but he was a Cane so need for this garbage.

Think of some of these safeties we have had at Miami over the last few years...

1. Telemaque,
2. Rodgers, and
3. Highsmith

These guys were able to change the game, for the other team's advantage, numerous times during their tenure.

he's a nice guy and it was a legacy favor from randy to alonzo who did and does a lot for the program. i have no problem with legacy favors as long as it does not negatively impact the team. unfortunately, he sucked and we had few ahead of him so he got playing time. in a better world, he would have ridden the bench and played on STs.

Didn't mean to trash the young man. But no way, he needed to start for Miami for two seasons. Unreal.

It is amazing to see some of the players that have gone through the program the last few years.

At least we have: Bush, Carter, Crawford, Gayot and Hester back there now.

It is not his fault that he was put in a position where he had to be a major contributor. That would be the fault of the guy who recruited him.

merriweather last great one...
until great safety play we are fooked...

I am hoping dallas is that guy..

only reason DUKE IS WHAT THEY ARE was CASH transferring from OSU...he made a huge difference for DUKE

C'mon fellas...the dude came here as a QB and decided to switch position to help his team. Also, I'll guarantee he'll be a part of this staff in some capacity in the future. He knows football, just wasn't as physically gifted has his dad. He's a Cane!

That this staff and the last couldn't recruit anyone to keep him off the field is the issue.

That he switched positions to help the team he will always get respect from me. He is still a Cane and bleeds Orange and Green.

In whatever he does now, I wish him the best.

Alonzo messed his son up by pressuring the staff for him to play db... The kid was short but he would have been a good back up qb... He had adequate speed for option runs and wild cat... He also had a decent arm... He should have let him stayed at qb... He eventually started but he no more than an average db and seem to have lost his speed...

They didn't switch AJ bc Alonzo pressured them. That's comical. They switched him, bc we had no one better, which explains why he was a starter. It's not AJ's fault we could not recruit someone to beat him out.

Some of you ought to think twice before trashing our players. Whether you believe it r not, it can factor in recruiting.

His dad's an nfl scout? I think if take his advice before yours

AJ was a legacy kid who if we were recruiting the way were supposed to doesn't see the field except special teams and is just a nice sideline story for commenters but with our cluster **** of coaches well you saw the results

tried his best
stayed out of trouble
carried himself accordingly
got himself a degree from UM

he'll be alright. best of luck to the kid in his future endeavors
