As if you needed more news today...

Apparently Bimbo said last night he would give up play calling but came back this morning and changed his mind and said Coley could have the offense next year. They also offered him $625,000/year and he said said no.

noles are always in denial - it is a part of their heritage; so it should be expected. Imagine for a moment: they will now watch one of their alums and former coaches who left their program to come to our program help lead us to the MNC. That's evil genius at its best.

People bust out the "family" thing when they don't want to tell the truth. Truth is that he likely didn't trust Jimbutt. He doesn't want to say that publicly though, so I'm sure he'll resort to telling people he wanted to be closer to his family, which is more palatable for the people who need that sort of soothing.

Meh. Is that really an impressive list? I see about 5 guys I'd really want. Total. And, some of those guys are a little north of what I consider South Florida.

How many of those guys were true Miami targets? I think the majority of that list were guys Shannon paid little attention to. Now he should be faulted for that. But those all weren't true recruiting battles.
 
If any of those recruits that are between Miami and FSU pick FSU...they deserve what they are going to get. You got Coley, who was likely a big part of their recruitment at some point, basically saying "I chose Miami over Florida State...what do you think you should do?"...if they choose Miami...its gonna be their own fault.

How many of those guys were true Miami targets? I think the majority of that list were guys Shannon paid little attention to. Now he should be faulted for that. But those all weren't true recruiting battles.

Just because Shannon didn't see the obvious talent in the likes of Xavier Rhodes and Rodney Smith doesn't mean they aren't less of gets than they are. Of that list...Miami had legit offers out to 7 of them...recruited Reliford and Benjamin pretty heavy in the off-season and cooled on them during the season.

Yeah. I think only O'Leary, Greene, Joyner, Dent, and Freeman had Miami offers. Maybe we started recruiting Xavier Rhodes near the end of the year but he didn't go hard after him and I'm not sure he ever hard an offer; same with Freeman except I think he had an offer. Those were both mistakes, and both were probably 'Canes had we recruited them hard. But FSU hasn't really recruited South Florida well. They have a presence down here for good players Miami doesn't want and they make it hard for Miami to get the guys Miami wants, but Miami usually gets those guys. Now it won't be very difficult for UM at all. FSU used to recruit South Florida better than they do now.

That's not an impressive list and the top recruits there are O'Leary and Joyner, and O'Leary went to a Gator school.
